I had my eyes corrected just over 3 years ago, having been rejected by other clinics due to my cornea being too irregular. It has been absolutely brilliant to live life and do sports without glasses or contact lenses.

Due to my age I had monovision done, which turned out to be a really important choice. So from the beginning I wore glasses at work to provide the best 2 eye corrected vision. Yet at the weekend or on holiday never needed glasses for anything.

A friend and his father have had Lasik on my recommendation and my sister is in the pipeline.

Thank you Accuvision for potentially saving my life and vision…

On a different topic I had an eye infection recently which I went to see Accuvision about for advice on 4th Nov 2008. This had no relation to the past surgery.

Vikash empatically stated that I had Orbital Cellulitis and that I should go to an eye A & E and be treated with intravenous antibiotics.

By this time I had already gone to one hospital. It took visits to 4 different hospitals to get correct treatment. Two different Moorfields Eye Units disagreed with the referral letter that Vikash had written for them and said I just had conjunctivitis / viral infection.

Without Vikash’s diagnosis, I would not have persisted to find people who knew what they were doing with respect to eye infections.

Eventually I did get properly diagnosed and treated, and over 3 days had elapsed before I was connected up to be given IV Augmentin initially, then IV Vancomycine about every 12 hours for 3 days.

Search ‘Orbital Cellulitis bsac’ for a good summary of how serious this was.

This has resulted in a formal complaint to both Moorfields Eye Units who really should have better procedures for dealing with this emergency condition.

7 days ago I was -4.75 with astigmatism in both eyes and large pupils. Today I have gone back for my one week check up to be told that I have no prescription whatsoever and have better than 20:20 vision. Furthermore I’ve been at work all week in front of my laptop (for 14 hours on Wednesday) and experienced no sight problems or discomfort at all!
The surgery itself was unbelievably easy. Waiting in the waiting room beforehand I ought to have been worried, but it was impossible to be as every 15 mins someone emerged from the surgery room with an enormous smile on their face. Very reassuring. Then it was less than 20 mins from when I was called in to when I myself emerged. There was just no time to get worried. Personally if there’s pain to be felt, I’ll feel it. So when I read everyone else saying there’s no pain I was a little doubting. But they were right, there really is none. In fact, the most pain I experienced was when I woke up the following morning and had to take off the eye shields which were stuck to my face using a type of tape. It was like removing a plaster.

When choosing my clinic I had had no recommendations so they were all starting from an equal position. After reviewing this site I decided upon Accuvision or Optical Express (I also booked with Ultralase and Optimax but their appointments were not for a month and I was so sold after seeing Accuvision I booked the surgery for two weeks later. I had been considering surgery and been to see Ultralase 3 years ago so I didn’t feel that I was rushing things but felt that I should go and see another clinic to be sure. Optical Express was booked for the following weekend so I decided to attend that appointment. We got off to a bad start when I turned up on time and then waited for 20 mins before going into my appointment and the staff were not particularly informative or apolgetic about it. My optician was very nice, although had to get some help working the first piece of test equipment as it was set to the wrong settings. I tried asking some questions about the surgery and laser that I had from my research but she was unable to answer properly and I got the impression she had her script and did not know enough to detour from it. After quoting me a price higher than Accuvision I was sat in the waiting room again before speaking to a ‘Sales Counseller’ who was basically a sales person. Accuvision do not offer Intralase. Optical Express do and think it’s amazing. My sales lady proceeded to answer every question and argument I had for the microkeratome with ‘But we are best. I can tell you Intralase is best’. that failed to convince me and instead annoyed me. I left knowing that I wanted to go with Accuvision as they had been so helpful, so knowledgeable and completely un-forceful. I felt totally relaxed at the Fulham branch, whereas the reading Optical Express branch left me feeling bothered and untrusting. However I knew I needed to look into the Intralase vs Microkeratome issue further. After much research I concluded that the two techniques are excellent in terms of risks etc. Both have slightly different risks i.e. flap complications (fixable) with the microkeratome or blade and increased light sensitivity and more suction on the eye with the Intralase. I decided that both would give excellent results and that I didn’t want to pay an extra £1000 to go with Optical Express. So I phoned to cancel (I had put a deposit down to secure the coming Friday as I was being impatient) which took 4 phone calls. I had to speak to a sales counsellor again who pretty much told me that i would be stupid to not have intralase and made cancellation very difficult and stressful. Their basic technique is to not take no for an answer and eventually wear you down.

Anyway. Accuvision have been amazing form the beginning. From having the phone answered by Joan (one of the optometrists) who was lovely and knowledgeable from the start. My consultation was then with her and as I said before she answered all my questions and seemed to know and understand what she was talking about.

To conclude this long spiel (sorry it’s so long!! but this site really helped me because of the level of information some people provided and I wanted to do the same). The procedure itself is amazing, and whether you go with the microkeratome or intralase the risks are very low (do some of your own research and decide whether you want to pay more for Intralase. The high street clinics sing it’s praises but that’s because it sounds better – who likes the idea of a man with a blade near your eye, although during surgery it looked just like a metal ring, not a blade – and they can charge you more for it. I did also conclude that I would probably have got excellent vision with most of the clinics, I went with Accuvision because they gave me the best feeling. And as everyone says, anyone with glasses should do this. There is NO reason not to.

Finally, thanks to all at Accuvision; Optometrists Vik and Joan were so good, and my surgeon Dr Prashant Jindal and Darius did an amazing job on the day. I went out in the rain today and and didn’t get rain all over my glasses. Amazing!!

I had laser surgery at the Fulham branch of Accuvision just under 4 weeks ago. I had been saving up for ages and when the goal had been met, I still didn’t believe that I might be able to be spec and contact lens free! I am now 20/20 and it has changed my life!

I am an actor and lenses were always popping out on stage under the lights, and I was always a bit lazy with them, opting for glasses but then being annoyed by them moving/smudging/steaming up all day.

I went to the heavily advertised laser company for my first consultation and was scared off by the seemingly inept optomotrist that conducted my consultation- my pupils were dilated and sensitive to the sun for at least 36 hours! This was just the consultation! There was definitely more talk of finance agreements than facts about the surgery and it was all rather impersonal and brash.

Then a friend of a friend recommended Accuvision, the consultation was a different ball game all together, so professional, reassuring, thorough and no hard-sell! I knew I was in safe- and gentle- hands.

I had to go to the operation alone, but I wasn’t worried because I knew I would be so well looked after by the waiting room staff. I had watched at least 3 people come out of the operation alive, but when my time came I was still a bit nervous and accepted the nurse’s offer to hold my hand! Everyone was utterly friendly and reassuring. The clamp IS odd, intense is the best word..but never painful. I found the flashing green light a great point of focus during the surgery and before I knew it, it was done. It’s true the procedure on the 2nd eye feels longer, I guess because I was more conscious of what was happening and what was coming. Still, it was so quick.

I was taken home by a friend and lay in bed with my eyes closed (for quicker healing) listening to Radio 4 for the rest of the day! I had an audition less than 48 hours after surgery and managed to follow dance steps and read scripts without any problems.

I have had some dryness, which made one of my eyes a little blurry but I was given jelly type drops which helped, and the problem cleared in a few days. It is now 4 weeks later and I can see perfectly!

I am very pleased with the service. I can see what I was not able to see for last few years. It’s like Accuvision has given me a new pair of eyes.

Absolutely fantastic!! The surgery only took a couple of minutes and was completely painless, you honestly cannot feel a thing (I was about -4 in both eyes with slight astigmatism in one eye). I was on my way home only 10 minutes after I had the op. I was reading number plates on the way home and in the afternoon I could read things in the distance as good as my boyfriend who has perfect vision, I was so impressed, couldn’t believe how quick I could see clearly.

After my check up on the second day I was told I could now drive as my vision was so good, so I drove home, no problem. I needed extra drops for a few days as my eyes were a bit dry.

Had my 1 week check up yesterday and was told I have 20:20 vision. It is amazing.

I chose AccuVision from reading the testimonials and I am so glad I did, I would like to thank everyone at AccuVision in Fulham, they were very professional and made me feel at ease.

I had lasik at Accuvision in Solihull last April and it has changed my life!

The procedure was pain free, extremely quick (15mins) and I only had to take 2 days off work.

I am so happy to have had the surgery and to have ditched the glasses and contacts! This is especially noticable when you go on holiday and want to do activities such as swimming and snorkelling.

The team at Accuvision were so professional and friendly that it made the whole experience a lot less daunting, and practically a breeze.

I would recommend it to anyone!

My wife and myself, both had the laser surgery in 2007, and it is by far the best money we have spent. To be able to read and drive without glasses again is fantastic, and we have had no problems whatsoever. You treated us both as individuals, and with great care so that we were put at ease immediately, and the day of our operation went very smoothly. Your aftercare is second to none and we have already reccommended you to our friends Thank you for changing our lives

I had my surgery on 27th October at about 4pm.

My initial consultation had been held in Fulham some 6 weeks earlier. The consultationwas fantastic and very professional and caring. At no time during the following 6 weeks was i put under any pressure to go ahead with the surgery.

i chose to have the surgery on the Monday afternoon and stay overnight in a nearby B&B, retunring to Accuvision on the Tueday morning for a check up.

I have to admit the surgery was a little more uncomfortable than i was expecting, but still better than going to the dentist!!!! Post surgery i felt far less discomfort than i was expecting. I walked from Accuvision to the B&B after the surgery and then at about 7.30 pm went to a local Thai for a meal. Only 3 hours or so after the surgery i was able to read the menu without glassses (albeit slightly blurred).

The next morning my vision had improved and today (Friday 31st October) it is better still.

I have nothing but the highest praise for all the staff i came into contact with at Accuvision. If only every company/firm in the UK dealt with its clients/customers with such care.

i can now read newspapers, teletext, my computer screen at work without the need for glasses. For the first time in my adult life i owna pair of sunglasses and I can’t wait to use them on my next foreign holiday.
