I was 2.25 short sighted in both eyes. Had operation (wave-front) on 4.08.05 after feeling very confident with the very thorough and professional eye examination prior. The operation itself was not painful, I was made to feel very safe by the team and was pleased to be accompanied in the room by 5 staff all together. Though it is totally painless, I only felt anxious at the process about to take place, but was made to feel calm and safe by the surgeon who contiously explained what was happening and what he was going to do next. Once over, I was thanked by the surgeon and team for ‘trusting them with my eyes’. All went perfectly, they said and I was very happy. I waited, took the drops and was advised to keep my eyes closed and rest. Before I left, I sarted feeling a shart scratch-like pain in one eye, but was told this will pass. Indeed, when I got home, i could not open my eyes, they were very watery, sore, and I was in quite some pain for about 6 hours after. The pain was similar to someone scratching the eyeball with a pin. This was the only thing I experience which I did not expect to, as most others reported only feeling uncomfortable or gritty sensations. I did not, they really were sharp pains. They would come and go, sharply every 10-25 mins or so. The next day, the contacts were taken off and after the check-up I was told my eyes were perfect. The amazing thing was that every day my vision got better and better. The blurriness went, the pain dissappeared and a week later I was very pleased to read 20-15! I cannot stress the professionalism and friendliness of the whole team at the Fulham site. Absolutely fantastic.Thank you, you have changed my life. I CAN SEE!!! A month on, and my eyes do not feel dry at all, I do not have trouble with lights when I drive at night or at any other time, which I understand can be quite common. So I feel very lucky that I have not experienced this, bar the first few days after the operation. I recommend Accuvision highly and thank them warmly for all their care. Mirona Istrate.

Well, here I am typing this with no glasses on! It’s still very strange and I’m totally overwhelmed by it all! It’s stunning to be able to see for the first time in my life. Anyway, you probably get how excited am I by now 🙂 I have wanted to get my eyes done for the longest time and spent the last six months researching in earnest. I went to a couple of other clinics first as I wanted to try out three – word to the wise, avoid Optical Express if your prescription is over a + or -3. Having been turned away, I discovered Accuvision. From the start they were efficient and very friendly. Not pushy at all. They agreed to take me on and I had my surgery last Wednesy 29th June 2005. I was +6.5 in my left eye and +5.5 in my right. The surgery itself was pretty yucky – have a valium! But totally painless and over very quickly. I could see straight away, and promplty burst into tears all over Mr Pandit who carried out the procedure. I had very little discomfort afterwards and apart from a little blurring, all is great. I am so thrilled I can’t put it into words – Cloud 9 doesn’t even get close. Went back the day after and am already 20/20 in my right eye! The left will take longer and may never be perfect as I have an astigmatism. I will check in again in a while to let you all know how my eyes have settled down. But if you have been thinking of having Lasik, go for it!!!! xxxx

Its been 2 and a half years since my Wavefront-Guided laser op. I was -3 in both eyes. I had a terrible first 3 months while my eyes settled to the dryness factors. One day I would have 20/10 vision and the next I would hardly be able to read the print on my screen with my face 5 inches from it – incredibly frustrating, since you obviously can’t get glasses to aid you when the prescription changes everyday. However week by week this improved greatly. A lot was due to the fact I tend to sleep with my eyes ever so slightly open. They settled down to 20/20. Although I haven’t had them tested for 2 years, I am confident, because I am able to stand back from the crowd (by at least 4 yards) as we all look at the train times in Waterloo Station. Very happy I spent the £3k. No more glasses to bend, break, scratch or lose and no more dry, itchy and irritating contact lenses to fiddle with. How many times had I put them inside out on my eye only having to remove them and put them back in correctly, only slightly dirtier; worst of all – how about putting in monthly lenses without having neutralised the peroxide – Ow!; then those ultra thin ones as they slip behind your eyeball where they get stuck for a couple of hours or simply just ripping the little buggers! Couldn’t be any happier with my new eyes.

So far the results have been fantastic! I had the surgery on Monday 17th January 05 and the whole experience from the initial consultation in December 04 through to the surgery itself couldn’t have been handled in a more professional and caring manner. At all stages you are kept fully informed of everything going on around you/happening to you. I was always put at ease either by Vikesh or Mike or any other member of the support team. I noticed an immediate difference in my long sighted vision (I was short sighted), but experienced some blurriness in my short sighted vision, which I had been warned of in advance. Also some blurring on lights/traffic lights, but this is to be expected and can take a few months to subside. (But if you broke your leg, you wouldn’t expect to be playing football after a week!) I was given clear simple instructions in relation to aftercare and the antibiotics I needed to take, which were to avoid me getting any infection in the eyes. I have just had my week’s check-up and the results are very good and Vikesh is very pleased with the results. I am now back to doing everything normally – driving, playing squash, using the playstation and using a computer on a daily basis. Although rubbing my eyes if itchy is still a no no! I would definately recommend Accuvision to anyone. And thanks once again to everyone for their professionalism and support.

My perscription was not very high -2 and -2.5 but I wanted to do the treatement to make my life easier. Travelling all the time and going out was often uncomfortable due to the contact lenses. I had the surgery in October 2004 and everything has been perfect so far. During the consultation I was told everything I needed to know so when the time came for the operation I felt confident that all will be fine. I have to admit that the first 4 hours after the surgery I got a bit scared because my eyes were so watery and the stinging didn’t let me relax. After the first night however everything was even smoother. I trying to be careful when I was out the first couple of days so that nothing would get in my eyes. I have not heard any problems so far apart from some dryiness but I had that problem before the surgery so that is not something new to me. I was very happy with the staff and I really felt that they cared. I still feel that I would be welcome to call them with any questions I might have. I don’t regret going ahead with my laser treatement at all! My life is much simpler now.I would recommend Accuvision to my friends and this of course is from my personal experience.

Having had to wear varifocals for as many years as I can remember, the idea of never having to wear them anymore seemed to me a lot to ask. I made enquiries to ultralase but after an examination they said they did not have the eqipment to perform the surgery. This was not what I wanted to hear but I went away thinking that was the end of the matter and that I would have to wear glasses forever. Then about a year later I saw an advertisement for Accuvision showing results for someone with a prescription of +8.0 and mine were +4.5. I telephoned them and was invited in for an eye test and they were confident that I would be suitable for the treatment. Because my prescription was high I was told that even after surgery I would need glasses for close up work but my long sight should be 20/20. My appointment was in August 2004 and was competely painless which meant the nurse did not have to hold my hand so I missed out there but the results were amazing. On the way home on the train (I live in Kent) I could not resist raising my sunglasses to have a look around and everything was in focus which of course delighted me. After about three months I noticed that my close up work was becoming difficult and it was suggested I may need an enhancement to correct the eyes with an adjustment of just 1.5+. This was performed in January 2005 and a week later an eye test revealed that the target of 20/20 had been achieved.
I am very pleased with this result and can recommend anybody who has worries about laser surgery to speak to the very nice people at Accuvision who will not only offer you great support but will not perform surgery if you are not suitable or they think you might be at risk. Our eyes are very precious and I only wanted people that I trust to look after them and Accuvision was the right decision for me.I still find it strange not wearing glasses but it is one of the best things I have done.

The whole team at accuvision were great. Initial consultations were very informative and surgery time was quick and efficient with lots of support from the surgeons and whole team. The surgery itself wasnt painful, just uncomfortable for a few minutes, with a lifetime worth of benefits. After care is also great with a 24hr number should you need it. Highly recommend going to accuvision if you are considering laser treatment.

I thought about having Laser Surgery about 3 years ago, but that was as far as it went until my friend had hers done and said how fantastic it was. So I rang round a number of companies only to be told that they could not do my prescription, it was Accuision and one other company that said it could be done. I opted for the other company as it was only 300 miles from where I live in Scotland and Accuvision was 600. I went for my consultation in July this year and all was well, I told them that I have Ulcerated Colitis and it was put in my notes and nothing mentioned about it. I booked to have the surgery at the end of July. My husband and I travelled overnight so we could get to the clinic for the 9.50 appointment. I was very excited and also very scared, but the thought that I would be able to see spurred me on. I was called into the consulting room and the surgeon looked at my notes and straight away said he was unable to treat because of the colitis, he had to tell me 3 times before I was able to take in what he was saying and I just cried and cried, I couldnt understand why it was not mentioned to me at the consultion. Over the past 4 months I have been in contact with the company and they keep saying they will be able to do it some time when they have some new equipment installed. A month ago my daughter had her eyes done and it made me want mine done even more when I saw what great results she had, so my husband told me to ring Accuvision even though it would be a long journey. I rang and made an appointment for 6.12.04, consultation at 10am and the treatment at 2pm if all was well, we travelled down on the Sunday and stayed overnight so we could get to the 10am appointment. I had my consultation and was told the surgery could go ahead and would I like to have it done straight away, so I said yes and was out of the clinic by mid-day. It was a very quick and painless treatment and I could see straight away. Everyone in the clinic was so nice and made you feel you was the only person they had to deal with that day. We went back to the hotel and I kept my eyes closed for the rest of the day as much as I could, we had a meal in the hotel restaurant so I wouldnt have to go outside incase dust got into my eyes. Next day we went back for the check-up and my right eye that I couldnt read the top letters with the day before could read the bottom line of letters, fantastic. I had no pain or discomfort at any time, I just get dry eyes which is quite normal and I use tear drops throughout the day. I have been to Aberdeen to have my first week follow-up and the optician was impressed by my new eyes, all is well and I am just delighted with the results. My right prescription was Sph+4 Cyl-5 Axis22. I am so glad that my husband made me ring Accuvision as I would still be waiting and waiting on the other company, I just wish I had rung them first. If anyone is thinking of having Laser Surgery, dont hesitate, it is so great to be able to see. I am 50 and have worn glasses for 43 years, it takes a bit of getting used to not putting on your glasses when you get up. If you would like to email me about the surgery I would be more than happy to answer any questions. Linda Powditch. Scotland.
