Op Date: 26th Feb 2004, Wavefront, £2900 total. Now almost 2 weeks since my operation and I could not be happier. The pre and post op staff are excellent, always explaining everything well and ensuring I was happy with the process. Service on the day was more brisk, but I appreciated that as I didn’t want to mess around. Some people may have expected more preparation on the day but I suspect that the team knew how I wanted to be treated and would take more time with some other patients. The procedure was completely painless but at the same time was one of the horrific experiences of my life. I hate things touching my eyes so maybe it was worse for me but the array of clamps, tools and liquid that they put in your eyes was truly terrifying. Concentrating on the green light was very difficult while they are doing god knows what to your eye! You do smell burning flesh but that was the least of my worries. Having said all that I could not be more pleased with the result. Vision has been excellent since the next day and has steadily improved over the last 2 weeks. I have always had dry eyes in the past and vision is not perfect when they get dry but a couple of drops solves that problem which is becoming far less frequent now. I can read most of the bottom line on an eye chart with both eyes together which I had not expected at all. Accuvision have been excellent all they way, I can not recommend them highly enough.

I went to Accuvision having been advised by another clinic that my corneas were too thin for normal Lasik and I wouuld need to wait for wavefront technology which they didn’t have yet. A few months later I saw Accuvision advertising this technology and having spent ages on their website I decided to go for a consultation at Parsons Green. I was hugely impressed with the great care taken over this. The battery of tests I was put through lasted nearly 2 hours and the final result was that yesthe corneas were quite thin but they could treat my eyes. It was going to be expensive because of this tricky prescription (£1800 per eye!) but they were confident of a good result. I went away to think about it for a couple of months and to make sure it could be afforded and then made the decision to go ahead. There was no pressure from Accuvision at any stage and they were quite comfortable with a number of extra questions from me at various times. MY wife came with me on surgery day and the whole procedure went exactly as described. Slightly uncomfortable perhaps but not actually painful. Very quick and carried out by people who made me relax simply by their professionalism and easy friendship. Keeping your eyes closed whilst being driven across London on the way home was not something I would recommend to anyone and at that stage I felt quite car-sick. My suggestion would be to have the surgery in the morning and then go to a local hotel so that you can be reasonably refreshed for the next visit 24 hours later. My experience was exactly as suggested in the literature. Vision was substantially improved after 4 hours and really good after 24 hours. Now, some 5 months since the treatment I am just absolutely delighted at the results. I occasionally need reading glasses for close-up work but only indoors….if I am outside, natural daylight means no glasses needed. My latest test at Accuvision showed better than 20/20 vision. THe staff at Accuvision were quite superb. My first consultation was with Joan and her blend of professionalism and Irish friendliness was just what I needed in the way of reassurance….I probably would have chickened out at some point but for the trust that she engendered. Incidentally she had had the surgery herself and was a great example. Ten out of ten Accuvision and thank you! I don’t think the process could have been done better in any way!

I have been a contact lens/spectacles wearer for over 20 years and when I heard of laser surgery, I wondered how it would feel to live without glasses or lenses. Booked a consultation and I was very impressed with the overall assessment procedure. Vikash was very thorough in discussing my eyes, the actual procedure, what to expect pre and post operation and also in answering all my questions. I had to call the clinic twice for more information before I finally decided to go ahead with it. My operation involved undercorrecting one eye for reading and the other eye has perfect vision for distance, ie monovision. It is now almost 3 months since I had the operation and aside from having dry eyes every now and again, everything is great. I can only thank everyone at Accuvision for all the support they have given before, during and after the operation. If anyone wants to ask me any question, please feel free to email me. I will be very happy to help.

I decided to look at laser surgery back in May. As I had been wearing hard c/l for 20 years I had to make the sacrifice of wearing glasses for a while! My first stop was Optimax in Leicester due to its location in my nearest city. I was advised that 3 weeks of non c/l wearing should suffice and so off I went. as the clinic had only just opened it was a little disorganised and I had to wait an hour to be seen. I was told that my corneas were too thin for lasik but I could have Epi-Lasek. However my corneas hadn’t demoulded enough for a proper examination so had to wait another 3 weeks to see if I could have epi-lasek. The lady I saw wasn’t very helpful and I felt she was too bored to give me all I needed so decided to go to BUPA. Again was told my corneas were too thin and advised to have lens implants. The consultant I was passed to gave me little information and wanted me to sign up after 5 mins, after telling me there were no risks. I was dubious of this advice and wondered whether the fact that England were playing that night had anything to do with his lack of time! Next stop was a gentleman I found on the net who was independent and specialised in implants. He was great and went through ALL possibilities although he only performed implants. The risks he advised me of about implants put me straight off – glaucoma, cataracts, retina detachment etc. Again I went back to the internet – whereupon I found a man who had thin corneas like me who had had lasik and it was successful; he had been to accuvision in Fulham. So I made an appointment (1st one that was free!) and decided to see LCRS in Harley St while I was down in the big city to make my trip worthwhile. LCRS specialise in cutting the eye so it then heals giving corrected sight (very much layman terms I know!). They said laser surgery was rubbish and had stopped performing it years ago – wasn’t overly keen on having my eye cut and the fact that I could only have one eye done at a time and 3 months apart meant a very long process. So back to Accuvision – very professional, very informative, very expensive. They could deal with my corneas and also told me I had large pupils (something no on else had mentioned), but this wasn’t a problem. They went through the risks, dry eyes, halos, starburst etc but my main concern was that they couldn’t make me blind! After much research (think I may have done a little too much) I decided to book in. I went in on my own (would recommend taking a friend), as I didn’t want to inconvenience my rural friends and practised deep breathing to keep calm. Was laid down and my eyes were anaesthetised. A nurse offered me her hand to hold but I decided against it. I was asked to concentrate on a green light and my eye was clamped open. Then the uncomfortable part – pressure put on the iris to hold it in place and all goes black. At this point the nurse grabbed my hand – I think she was more nervous than me, so I decided to squeeze hard just to make her feel needed. After that I felt nothing and breathed through my mouth as otherwise you can smell burning! Then my left eye was done and as I knew what to expect it wasn’t too bad. You are then left to lie still for a few minutes (eyes shut of course) – by the way everyone speaks to you throughout so you don’t feel ‘left out’. Then I was asked to sit up and open my eyes – I didn’t want to but eventually I did only to see a man peering at me. I shut my eyes again as he was a little scary and then proceeded to cry! I don’t think it was because I could see and certainly not because I was in pain, I think it was just relief that it was over. After that you sit with eyes closed for 30 mins and then get checked over. I had a c/l put in place to help the cornea flap stay put and was told that it would actually make recovery less painful as well. This all started at around 2.30 and I was in my hotel for 4pm. by 5pm I went to the bar (in my sunglasses), for medicinal purposes only, as I felt like someone had punched me in my right eye (left eye was fine). By 6pm I felt fine, no pain and I could see. You are advised to keep eyes closed as much as possible so I ordered room service and listened to the TV. You have to tape eye shields on at night to stop you rubbing your eyes in your sleep, so when I woke up expecting the joy of being able to see the alarm clock I was disappointed, as all I could see was tape! Not to worry, as soon as I had ripped off the tape my vision was pretty good – little fuzzy in right eye. The clinic took out my c/l and said I was legal to drive, as I was 20/40. I had to use steroid eye drops for the next week to keep infection at bay and also tear drops when necessary. By the 2nd day my vision was good but fluctuated a little – nothing serious though. I went to a rugby match (obviously as a spectator) and could see well, went to the pub after and again all was well. Went back for my week after consultation and was told I was 20/20 with room for improvement! My eyes were only a little bloodshot after 10 days and I wasn’t scaring children anymore (shame!) To summarise – I’m glad I did it. It didn’t really hit me that I could see unassisted until I went on holiday 6 weeks after treatment, without 2 pairs of glasses, contact lenses, solutions etc! My details – was -4.00 and -5.00 with a slight astigmatism. Last visit I was -0.25 and +0.25 respectively. My corneas were 480 thicknesses and the flap was 80 and cornea removed was 67 and 84 respectively, so leaving more than the 250 recommended untouched. Should anyone thinking of having this done want more details then please feel free to email me catherine@cdns.co.uk

I have just had laser surgery done by the Accuvision team this week. From start to finish I have recieved only proffessional treatment from all members of staff there. Please rely on my words when I say this company is very good at what they do!!! When I was reading a lot of positive reviews about this company I decided to take a chance and go for it and I am so glad that I did!!! Take it from me I have not worn my glasses since the procedure and I keep thinking I have left them somewhere and I am missing something..I was treated for short-sightedness so now everything I do in my daily life such as driving or watching the TV is very much clearer. When I left the clinic I could not help but notice the smallest details around me, from the tiles on the roof tops to the leaves on the trees..My advice to anyone is just go for it!!! My experience has been so good that normally I would not even write a review on anything however I HAVE to make a exception this time due to the profound impact that this has had on my life. This is the new way forward that realy works!!!! The company will give you all the information before the day and are always happy to answear any questions!!! The procedure was over so quickly that I cant believe I did not do this sooner!! A very worth wild experience I would 100% recommend ANYONE to do this!!!

On Thursday 5th february, I had eye surgery at the above clinic having been turned down twice in the past two years by Ultrlase as my corneas were too thin. Following my first consultation with Accuvision they completely reassured me that this would not be a problem for them using the technology available. Three days after my surgery I sit here with perfect vision having been minis 10 in my right eye and minus 8 in my left. The whole procedure took a matter of minutes and was completely painless. My only regret is not having found Accuvision years ago.

I first had a consultation at Acuvision in September 2003, following the very successful treatment of my cousin’s and aunt’s eyesight using Lasik. I am 22 and have been short sighted for 10 years, my vision being stable at a level of -6 and -6.5 in the right and left eyes respectively. At my initial consultation I was told that I had a steepening of the cornea towards the bottom of the iris area and was asked to return for a second consultation in a few months to distinguish whether the steepening was stable or progressive. I returned in January 2004 and was delighted to discover that the steepening was considerably milder that origanlly thought; as I have very watery eyes, the tears were distorting the shape of my cornea, exaggerating the steepening. I would need to have my flaps cut upside down, though, with the hinge at the bottom, to protect the slight steepening, and would need to wear a pair of contact lenses for a day after surgery to help keep the flaps in position. I decided to proceed with surgery. Although other patients have said that the operation is not painful, I did find the proceedure uncomfortable and somewhat painful, but it only lasted a few minutes. Maybe I just have a really low pain threshold! I would have been happy with a visionary outcome of -1 or even -2, just so that I didn’t have to wear glasses or contacts all the time.

However, after opening my eyes immediately after surgery I was astonished to have pretty much perfect vision – a little watery looking perhaps – but I could see I would have superb vision. I was so shocked I said ‘I can see perfectly!’ and the surgeon replied ‘but of course you can see! What did you expect!’ That day my eyes were very sensitive to light and I did have an aching feeling behind my eyes, which disappeared after a I slept for an hour. The next day my eyes were a little dry but otherwise I was fine. I went back to the clinic for a check up and my contacts were removed. My flaps had healed in place brilliantly and I had 20/20 vision. What more can I say. I’m delighted!

I had PRK surgery on both eyes in 1993, and went from -7 / -7 to 20/20 vision following the procedure.
Over the following 6 months, as the course of steroid eyedrops was reduced, my vision regressed to -6/-3. A repeat PRK surgery to my right eye in 1995 resulted in the same regression. I underwent Lasik surgery at Accuvsion on September 25, 2003. It is now almost 5 months since the Lasik procedure, and my vision is excellent. My prescription was -6 in the left eye and -2.5 in the right eye. I now have 20/15 vision, though I have a slight astigmatism and I would benefit from glasses if watching a cricket match or night driving. My night vision is not brilliant, but that was also the case pre-lasik. My vision was at it’s best 1 month after the operation. The astigmatism has worsened from December to now, but my vision is still crisp, and I don’t feel the need for any corrective lenses. I’m looking forward to the next check up in May to see whether it has stablized. In light of my experiences with PRK, I am very happy. Because I had corneal damage from my initial treatments, and I needed a clinic that could handle this. After reviewing the top rating clinics on these pages, I chose Accuvision. The team at Accuvision put me at ease.. they had performed lasik on other patients who’d previously regressed after PRK surgery, with good results. I also had a thinner cornea, due to the previous treatment, so was dependant on a procedure that used a very fine laser to reduce the amount of corneal treatment removed. The surgery itself went smoothly, but I found the pain afterwards excruciating. Immediately after the operation, a contact lens was inserted into each eye to ensure better healing, as a precautionary measure given my previous surgeries; I was told this made the eye less confortable, but no-one else I have ever spoken to experienced pain of this degree. This pain (think chilli paste in the eyeball, and the occassional stab with a pin to make it really exciting) lasted approximately five hours, and over this time, I could not open my eyes at all, except to apply the hourly eyedrops.. And I could not take any knockout medication, because I had to apply the drops every hour for the first six hours. After five hours, the pain decreased rapidly, and I slept like a baby. I had functional vision the following morning, and brilliant vision by day 2. The pain was similar to what I suffered on the worst of the three PRK operations I had (except that lasted for 3 days!).

So, yes, a happy customer. Thanks to all at Accuvision, particularly Vikash, who put up with me Mr Grumpy post-operative misery.

I had my eyes lasered, using wavefront guided lasik at accuvision on 02/06/02, basically coming up 3 months ago, and little did I appreciate at that time, that that day would be the first day of the rest of my life – with the freedom that I had never had before in my life. for most people, being able to see clearly is something taken for granted, for me it was a gift, a miracle. I am 21, and had a -10 prescreiption in both eyes, to give u some idea, I had to hold a packet of cigarettes 2 inches from my face before i could read the ‘smoking kills’ writing. worrying indeed. Accuvision were nothing but kind from start to finish, and are still surpassing themselves in the after treatment checkups. because of the severity of my prescription, despite such amazing technology, I was told the best that I could hope for would be 20:20, and at worst, a -1, so basically still functional vision, which i might add, in would have been ecstatic with. I had a checkup about a month ago, so just slightly less than 2 months post op, and I see better than 20:20 in both eyes, I have 135% vision, meaning I see 35% better than people with so called ‘perfect’ vision. By using wavefront, accusvision can perfect even the slightest of imperfections on your cornea, hence, the normal ‘human’ imperfections are removed, hence, you see better than a normal human would. Absolutely amazing, I can’t thank them enough, I rarely ever miss a shot on a pool table, and can read the small print on anewspaper from 4 feet away. (you would be amazed how handy that is) My night vision, far from having any of the side effects, is also amazing, much better than before, I have no side effects from the operation, and 135% vision. Even the slight problem I had with dryness, (i have been using artifical tears) is clearing up, I used to have to use drops at least 5-10 times per day, plus once before bed, and once as soon as I got up, (sometimes more often) now, in the space of 2 months, it is unusual for me to use them more than just the once when I wake up, (and even that is lessening as time goes on). This laser experience has totally opened up my life, I really dont even believe it has sunk in yet, I still try and put my glasses on occasionally, then realise! Thankyou to accuvision, You have given me a life I could only dream about before. So go to them! theyre amazing from start to finish! I can never thank them enough! And finally, thankyou so so much to my grandparents, they paid for my operation as a 21st birthday and graduation present. thankyou so, so much nan and grandad.
