After extensive research I found Accuvision came out top over all of the other clinics. I could not find a bad word said about them, simply because they are brilliant. I am 19 years old and underwent laser eye surgery on the 8th of July 2014 and could not be happier. I used to have +7.00 vision in one eye and +6.00 in the other and now I have 20/20 vision. Not to mention I had a turn in one eye which has now completely gone and cannot express how much of a change to my life this has been. I first wore glasses when I was 11 months old and I am thrilled to not have to depend on glasses or contact lenses any longer. Accuvision really take care of you and talk you through everything in the initial free consultation with no pressure whatsoever. I was encouraged to go home and think about it before making a decision, though my mind was made up. On surgery day they talked me through everything and reassured me when the surgery was actually taking place. It only takes around 5 minutes per eye and is a completely painless procedure. After being at the clinic for only an hour and a half I was able to go home, then I came back the next day for a check-up and as everything went perfectly, returned to work a couple of days after having the surgery. Over two months later I am extremely pleased with the result and the level of after-care provided. I cannot stress how much this has changed my life and if you are going to get laser eye surgery done, you should go with Accuvision.

I was used to having poor vision during my childhood and as a teenager when I was growing up. As I got older I was getting more fed up going through the same old routines of glasses and contact lenses each day, was just slowing my life down.

My prescription was in the right eye, +7.00 with -3.00 astigmatism and in the left eye, +7.50 with -3.50 astigmatism. During my research into treatment for my eyes I didn’t think I would be able to have laser eye surgery, the only possible solution I could find was the implantable contact lenses.

So we were quite surprised during the consultation at Accuvision that we were actually able to have the laser eye surgery. I felt very comfortable with the Optometrist Vikash who was very professional in his approach and this gave me the confidence to go ahead with the procedure at Accuvision. I knew from the beginning that due to the strength of my prescription I would still need glasses or contact lenses to achieve good vision although they would not need to be very strong.

On the day of surgery the operation was so quick, in just a matter of minutes my vision changed instantly and completely and since the operation in June of this year I have not worn glasses or contact lenses at all.

I had little to no side effects, just a little bit of halo on street lights for a time. It was like my world had changed to HD vision.

Everything else has changed since the surgery in June too, absolutely life changing. It just opens up your world. And it’s all the little things that you do every day that you find the greatest difference. All the things I no longer have to do before I could feel confident to go out. Things like having contact lens solution in my back pocket just incase my eyes dry out while out or not wearing contact lenses when playing rugby or in the gym.

I would recommend investigating laser eye surgery for long sight and astigmatism and I would also recommend spending some time with Accuvision to find out what can be achieved for your own vision.

Had treatment for long sight, +4 and +2.5 with amblyopia, as I was informed due to the pupil not being exactly centered over the cornea. Not only did they cure the long sight issue, but they realigned everything so the amblyopic eye is getting correct vision. Literally life changing. Even after just 24 hours I can see better and in ways I have never done before. Vikash, the optom who dealt with me on the day (and day after follow up) was very professional and took the time to explain everything in detail, as did the surgical team. No pain just some odd discomfort during the procedure and could see really well immediately. I was turned down by all the other clinics due to the +4 eye, Accuvision had no problem with this. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get surgery done.

Can’t fault the service and results of the consultations and the surgery at all. My prescription was +4.25 left +7.00 right with astigmatism in both eyes. Within 24 hours my eyesight was 20/20 according to my post op check with Nick. Currently on day 2 and my sight is improving all the time. For those considering surgery, it is completely painless and takes 2-3 minutes from lying down to sitting back up again. I would recommend Accuvision for a few reasons: 1 – initial consultation is highly informative and there was no pressure at all to sign up to anything. They leave you to make the decision based on what they have discussed with you. 2 – the surgeon and his staff were fantastically reassuring. I had a few people chat with me just prior to the actual surgery to make sure I was happy to continue. They really sow a few doubts in your mind to make doubly sure both you and they are happy that going ahead with the surgery is the right decision. 3 – the cost is competitive. 4 – My surgeon, Mr Mathew was very friendly, reassuring, and above all in my opinion, an absolute genius. After the surgery and for the rest of the day, I had none of the symptoms mentioned on various sites. My eyes didn’t sting, run, or looked bloodshot. Yes they felt as if I had been up all night and looked like it, but the following morning, they felt perfectly normal. No reviewer can truly communicate how wonderful this surgery is, particularly as the reader will always be in two minds as to whether to go ahead or not. My view is that those who are very pleased will write a review and those who are very disappointed will write a review. On that balance of reviews I decided to go ahead with the surgery and do not regret it all all. In fact it is the best chunk of money I have spent, probably ever. Dear reader, trust Accuvision to deliver. They did in my case, and in abundance.

I had been turned down by every other clinic I had been to, and was in the end very happy as it meant I got the best treatment and not just the cheapest! I had a fairly strong prescription and an astigmatism,  (+7.00 hyperopia and -4.00 astigmatism in both eyes) and was right on the limit of what Accuvision could treat. The surgery was quick and painless, though a little nerve wracking as I’ve never been good with eye drops! Two days after surgery I could read at 20-20, and now, a few months later, my sight has settled and although my vision is not "perfect" I do not need glasses at all and can finally enjoy sport and gigs without fear of breaking or losing my glasses! The staff were all very helpful, though the surgeon did seem a little aloof.  I didn’t have much interaction with him and it was clear he knew what he was doing. I was booked a taxi to take me to a nearby hostel where I stayed the night, and I have received all the after-care I have required. I would highly recommend getting the surgery. Even though I didn’t mind wearing glasses the freedom from risking breaking them is so liberating! As a young man I can now enjoy the benefits for many years to come 🙂

I was the walking worried, it took me two years to put contact lenses in, and two years of talking about having laser to make the appointment. There is nothing to fear, it was so simple the procedure was over before I realised. No problems after – follow their instructions, no irritation. Great vision the next day and improving all the time. I chose Accuvision because they are interested in you; no hard sell, good price, quoted first time – no chasing phone calls with discounts. DO IT. I would highly recommend Accuvision.

This has to be one of the best decisions I have made to date. Work is much less problematic and the simple joy of being able to see without having to reach for glasses is a joy! The actual procedure was quite traumatic but so quick I would recommend it to the most squeamish. After care is ongoing but so far I am delighted with the professionalism of Simon. Thank you.

I decided to have my laser eye surgery at Accuvision, Birmingham after being declined treatment at another clinic due to the shape of my cornea. I read that Accuvision had different technology and could treat some people that other clinics could not. I had my initial consultant with Nick who made a thorough examination of my eyes and explained the difference between Accuvision’s technology and other providers. I was delighted when he said, though I was just at the edge, I was suitable for LASIK surgery. I was delighted. I then went away and did really, really thorough research all about laser eye surgery and the benefits and possible complications. I also researched various forums about Accuvision directly. The benefits are obvious and highly desirable but no surgery is without risks and the real query for me was the fact that I was ‘choosing’ to have this done. Despite looking very hard for people who gave Accuvision a bad review I just couldn’t find any. Everyone raved about how good they are and the difference laser eye surgery has made to their lives. I got great benefit from these forums which is why I am writing about my experiences. Yes, it is huge decision to make but I am so pleased that I made the right decision and that I chose Accuvision. All my questions and fears were answered in a ‘no nonsense, tell it as it is, factual manner’. No dramas, embellishments of what to expect or not. Nick gave me the reading card and told me that I will still need to wear reading glasses for close up reading but he was able to tell me exactly where on the reading card I could expect to be. I really appreciated that because I knew exactly what I was going to get. I now have a £1.99 pair of +1.5 ready readers instead of the expensive varifocal glasses I used to have. Before I booked my surgery I had a couple of queries and I rang and spoke to Anthony who again, answered my questions in a straightforward and technical manner but in layperson’s terms. On the day of the surgery I was so stressed and nervous but everyone was very calm, ordered and professional. They assured me that they were in complete control and I didn’t need to do anything except what was requested and try and stay calm and breathe deeply. I was the first patient of the day and two people looked at my eyes and checked them again. Everything was explained in great detail and I started to relax. The actual surgery took less than ten minutes from going into the room and coming out. When I’m stressed I count; it took less than 100 seconds from the speculum going in my right eye to it coming out. Treatment done, finished! I was very worried about the speculum but I can honestly say I didn’t feel it at all. The pictures look far worse than the reality! It looks really painful but it is NOT! The surgeon talks to you all the time telling you what he is doing and what to expect so nothing comes as a surprise and it really gives you something to focus your attention on. Afterwards, I was given some drops and instructions which I followed to the exact letter. I went home and rested totally for the remainder of the day and listened to a talking book and dozed on and off. When I went back the next day for my check up and to remove the bandage contact lens Sam was really pleased with the way it had healed. One week later, I had another check up and Sam told me my vision was now 20:15 which is better than 20:20. On a practical level, before treatment I couldn’t operate the coffee machine in reception without my glasses, but at my one week check up I could see it quite clearly. I couldn’t read the posters in the waiting room without glasses before surgery, I could just about make them out at my one day check up and at my one week check up I sat in my seat and read them all! The service I received from Accuvision was extremely professional and courteous. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I did my research and I was certain that I was in the best hands going into my surgery. Yes, I was stressed – but it was a waste of stress because in reality it was not painful nor uncomfortable – just less than ten minutes in my life that makes a huge difference and frees me from being so dependant upon glasses all the time. If you are thinking of laser eye surgery then do your own research and give Accuvision the opportunity to look at your eyes. They are not pushy in the slightest because they do understand it is a big decision to make. I, for one, am glad I chose Accuvision. Thanks Team!
