before – a lazy left eye that had an astigmatism of -6.5 and a perfect right eye. Most of my life i had perfect vision thanks to my right eye but recently it had gotten tired so thought about laser surgery for about 2 years.

During – did a lot of research into many surgeries based around london and found accuvision to have great reviews. was messed around by optical express so gave accuvision the benefit of doubt. my consultation was sales free, vikram was very clear in what was achievable (not 20:20) but an improvement was possible. at this stage i knew it would be gamble as to what i would achieve.

surgery – to be absolutely honest it wasn’t pleasant but it was painless, i’m a bit funny about my eyes and i didn’t like seeing somesone poke around my eye ball.

post surgery – everything went fine! vision was very blurry for the 1st week, loads of halos and vision that fluctuated between good and bad.

1 month on – vision seems to have stabilised, after several check ups my eye has improved from a -6.5 to -0.5 wow! as my right eye did most of the work i don’t have a wow factor in improvement but what i do have is far greater periphery vision, i no longer see in a monocular affect but binocular which is great!

i’ve been very impressed by accuvision care and attention, although for now it’s not a life changing experience for me due to my circumstance i can only speculate as to what it must be like for spectacle wearers. i wholeheartedly recommend accuvision for all that they have done for me.

at the very least go and have a chat with them

Quite simply the best decision I ever made. I had -3.5 and -4.25 and the results were text book, and ended up with one line of vision better then 20/20! I went for my 6 month check up yesterday and everything is perfect, I was dischagred although they emphasise that they will be there for support anytime…. The staff are the most amazing, caring people and the after support is fantastic. The procedure is very fast and painless, and your back to normal after 1 days rest. Incredible…Its changed my life. I would highly recommend ACCUVISION to anyone….!

Had my yearly check up last month & have been discharged from Accuvision (althought they assured me I could contact them at any time if I felt I had any problems).

My eyes are still fantastic & I had my 1st holiday in about 20yrs where I was able to swim underwater & not have to worry about people splashing.

I’m still amazed that I now have 20/20 vision after all these years & I would recommend this treatment to anyone (Infact I have which resulted in 3 more people having their eyes done all of which have been as pleased as me with the results)
Thank you to everyone at accvision for helping to change & improve my life

Well, I have waited more than 6 months since my surgery before filing this report and I have to say that initially it was a bit of a roller-coaster ride (wasn’t really sure what the final outcome would be) – but I’m very pleased with the results now that everything has settled down.

In the first five days after surgery my eyesight went from very blurred (first couple of days) to superb long sight but with less than perfect mid/short distance vision. However, on the sixth day after a somewhat cloudy start everything began to get a whole lot sharper – which was a great relief, to say the least! I guess I should add that I’m 58, have worn glasses since I was about sixteen and have had varifocals (i.e. a need for reading correction to go along with my short-sightedness) for the past ten years – so maybe these were factors in terms of my initial problems with mid/short distance vision?

Today I have 20/20 vision – or very close to it – and any interim problems I had such as night driving difficulties (bleached out headlamps etc) and somewhat variable vision in my left eye are no longer an issue. I should explain that my expectations pre-op were that I would still need glasses for reading once the surgery had been done (which is the case) as I had opted for ‘best possible’ distance vision for sport – didn’t want to compromise that in any way.

I suspect that I may not be a typical case with regard to age and a prior ‘reading’ prescription, so perhaps my account will be of interest to anyone who is over 50 and thinking of laser eye surgery.

As with the majority of other testimonials I have read, I cannot fault AccuVision in any way – their care and thoroughness throughout have been ‘spot on’. Thank you AccuVision.

I had laser surgery just over 2 years ago. I was persuaded to go by my Dad and brother, who have both had it done also, but I was apprehensive as I had just turned 21 and hate anything to do with eyes! The staff were lovely, and were very patient and kind while I was worrying and very nervous. Two years on and after a check up today, I can safely say it was the best decision I made; my eye sight is 20/20 and it’s great not having to wear glasses anymore. The on-going support and friendliness of staff is wonderful. I always feel very safe in their hands.

Anyone who is like me; nervous and scared – go for it as you wont regret it.

Thanks Accuvision!

Thought I’d report back my experiences in the early post op stage then report back more later. Following far too much research I booked a consultation with Accuvision, Moorfields and London Vision Clinic. Accuvision were by far the cheapest of the 3 options but I was lucky enough to not have money play any part in my decision. Although all three clinics were fine, I chose Accuvision for several reasons. 1. I liked the fact that all of my tests were done by the same person(Vikash – all round nice bloke). 2. They were very straight about what to expect with no hard sell at all. 3. I spoke to a random selection of Accuvision patients all of whom spoke very highly of their experience.
I had the op on Monday. My surgeon was Chad Rostron. He had a very pleasant and relaxed manner and kept me fully informed of what was happening. The whole experience was so quick that you barely have time to say thank you (for changing my life!)

Yesterday I walked into work(along the sea front) and was astounded at the clarity of vision I had. I then worked with a computer for half of the day and had very good near vision as well. Today my vision is less good, so maybe I overdid it yesterday. I was also warned that the vision will fluctuate during the healing process. I’ll report back more in a few weeks.

This is my second posting
A quick note to say just had my 6 month check and am delighted with the outcome. Due to my age 46 only using my cheap readers for close reading at night. For everything else no specs required – wonderful! Many thanks once again to Accuvision !

I was a self confessed contact lens abuser, wearing my lens from the moment I woke up ’til the moment I went to bed (often falling asleep in them) for 14 years. This resulted obviously in numerous eye infections the most recent of which excruciatingly painful and resulting in my optician banning me from buying any more lens’ and a couple of visits to the Eye Clinic at St Thomas’ Hospital. I had been warned in the past about wearing my lens for so long but figured that I wasn’t as bad as I used to be, now that I actually own a pair of glasses at least.
My prescription was -5 & -5.5 which of course meant I had to wear glasses or lens’ going without was not an option. However my wearing my lenses was damaging my eyes so badly that even with the lens or the glasses I was still having difficulty seeing more than a few meters away. After 2 weeks of no lenses my optician was still not happy to supply lenses until I had a check up at the hospital, they gave me the all clear but it seemed time to make a change before it was too late.
I didn’t feel confident in going to a surgeon that operates out of a shopping centre, not much different from a show shop with the emphasis on get them in get them out, these are the only eyes I’ll ever have and I’ve ill treated them enough. I made an appointment with Accuvision to see if I was suitable for laser treatment, I didn’t hold out much hope as the optician’s moans were ringing in my head about the permanent damage I had done to my eyes. I had to keep my lenses out for the days leading up to my appointment so they could properly assess my eyes. They confirmed that my eye sight seemed worse than my prescription but said this was due to the surface damage to my eyes due to my contact lens habits and would be difficult to rectify with lenses or glasses. They then took scans of my eyes. Your eye should be a smooth surface; mine however looked like the Himalayas, inflamed and covered in scar tissue. A second opinion was called for and it was decided that I could have surgery but Epi Lasik not Lasik, due to the state of my eyes. I know they never guarantee 20/20 vision for anyone but they were very honest and said that they doubt I’ll achieve this due to the condition of my eyes, all due to my years of contact lens abuse. I was told that even if I did not have the surgery they recommended I never wear lenses again. I was mortified at the thought and figured that even if I am left wearing glasses for driving or close work it has to be better than being dependant on my glasses like I was then. I agreed to the surgery and to the pre surgery instructions, no lens at all between now and the surgery. That’s a whole month, in my case, of wearing my glasses!!!! Also for the 5 days prior to the surgery I had to put anti inflammatory drops in my eyes 3-4 times a day. The day of surgery came around and much to my and the surgeons surprise my eyes were so much better that they said I would be better suited to Lasik. This was due to the simple course of anti inflammatory drops and no lens, so disappointing that the doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital never prescribed them before. It was decided that Lasik it was, much to my relief. I am not a big fan of pain or surgery of any kind and a bit of a girl about anything like that but was so pleased that everything was over so quickly and completely pain free. You just keep looking at the light, there’s a brief smell, not unlike burning hair a few drops in your eyes and away you go. As simple as that, or at least that’s how they make the experience feel for you. As soon as I sat up from the bed I looked at the surgeon and was stunned I could actually see him!!!!!
The care throughout has been brilliant, I returned the next day for my check up all ok vision just a little like a foggy day. At my week check up I was reading 20/20 something neither myself nor the surgeons ever expected, to say I am over the moon is an understatement. I still go to take my lenses out at night and still wake up thinking “damn I slept in my lenses again” but I can live with that confusion, I’m sure it will pass.
The wearing glasses for a month combined with no make up for a few days before the surgery was a nightmare for someone as vain as myself but I can’t explain the joy of now being able to see better than I’ve been able to see since the age of 12
Accuvison may not be the cheapest option for surgery but what price do you put on your eye sight! Personally I don’t think I could’ve made a better choice of surgery and thoroughly recommend Accuvision to anyone considering the procedure. I can not fault their expertise and levels of care throughout. They exceeded both mine and their own expectations and I am forever grateful.
