I am 32 years old and have been using contact lenses on and off since I was 18, and had already developed repeated eye infections caused by using lenses too much. The private Doctor I saw for the infections suggested to consider laser treatment since he knew I didn’t like wearing glasses and I started to study clinics on the internet. I found Accuvision convincing and asked my Doctor for his opinion on my choice. He said it is a reputable clinic and asked me for the price they had offered me and said that also the price was in place. Now I felt confident to make my appointment for the surgery!

Everyone at Accuvision was very caring since the first visit and I felt that I was being explained about the choices well. My biggest fear was my repeated infections and I was making sure that the optometrist and surgeon knew about this in case that I would be in risk of infection post-op. They considered Trans Epithelial laser treatment because of my infections but then came back to me and said Wavefront Optimized LASIK would be fine, and so it was!

It is now 3 weeks after my surgery and I feel completely happy about everything!!! At the day of operation I just tried to think that this is a voluntary small operation that takes just a few minutes and that I have decided to do in order to see without glasses and that there really isn’t anything to be worried about. Accuvisions Lifetime Care Commitment also made me feel that everything will be taken care of.

In the actual surgery I was talked trough the whole procedure and that really helped me to feel secure, and when the second eye was operated a nurse called Jane held my hand since it was a bit more unnerving (THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH) and the taking me trough the process all over again kept me quite calm trough the whole operation, and after just a few minutes in the operation room I could sit up and was amazed that I could see clearly all ready! I was all smiles after that, and happy to have a loved one with me to the surgery, since it felt very good to share the experience trough out the day with somebody and to just be amazed together about how well I could see:)

About ten minutes after the operation I was being examined again and confirmed that all had gone well. Also at my one day and one week post-op checks everything was fine, just some dryness of the eyes that I feel is now starting to settle and I just use about 6 drops per eye a day and normally when I wake up in the morning there isn’t any discharge anymore!

I would like to thank everyone at Accuvision for taking so good care of me, both the optometrists (Jane who first examined me remembered my particular needs all the time even though it took me a while to decide to go trough with the surgery) and Neeha at the reception was also very understanding and caring all the time. And in the surgery I appriciated the talking me trough everything very very much, and of course holding my hand too, thank you all ever so much, I am grateful that you did such a fantastic job on my eyes! Having perfect vision is such a miracle, THANK YOU!!!

I have just had my second cross-linking treatment for my Keratoconus and thought I would share my experience, especially as cross-linking is quite a new procedure.

I was diagnosed with Keratoconus by my High Street Optician – from this point I spent a lot of time (as many of us do) researching what it meant on the internet. As I had been diagnosed at an early stage I was keen to look at some of the processes that intended to prevent the keratoconus getting worse. After reading up – i had to appreciate that any process would not give me ‘perfect vision’ but the emphasis is on arresting the progression of the coning.

I found a few places that offered Cross Linking – I was attracted by the concept of the procedure and the fact that the procedure was done while I was awake and was a quick process.

I ended up going to Accuvision in Fulham. I live in Hampshire so I had to make quite a few trips up to London – but it was worth it. Everyone at Accuvision was fantastic. The pre op, op and post op care was faultless. This daunting treatment was explained every step of the way and the surgeons talk you through the process as it happens (which lasted about an hour all-in-all).

The op itself is totally painless. The most discomfort I had was in the first night, with the eye being quite sore. But eye drops and pain killers help with this and from the second night onwards I had not trouble sleeping.

I had my left eye done in November and that has been a massive success. The vision has stabalised and I can now only need a weak prescription for that eye. I am now waiting for my right eye to settle down before I get my final prescription.

Thank you Accuvision. This treatment has undoubtedly improved my quality of life.

Treatment at Accuvision, Parsons Green.

Excellent service, having had vision correction done before at Optimax, the service that I got from Accuvision far exceeds that elsewhere.

Accuvision were able to correct my vision to almost perfection which Optimax was unable to do. After-care service is second to none. Vikash Patel, my optometrist made the whole experience absolutely hassle-free and easy. Definitely recommend to others thinking about vision correction. Well done!

Achieved an excellent result!!! Better than I expected. Having suffered with poor vision for many years, I can now see better than I did as a teenager. I only wish that I had laser surgery earlier and not delayed.

Accuvisions’ staff have been wonderful, explaining the procedure clearly.

Thank you to all the staff

It’s now just over 12 months since I had my treatment so feel it’s right to add my voice to the list of positive experiences regarding Accuvision.

I was treated at the Parsons Green clinic in London and from the first visit to my last check up it was all I could ever hope for from medical professionals. Everyone at the clinic was warm, approachable, knowledgable, professional and dedicated to me and the long term care of my eyes.

There was no hard sell. Instead I got free, impartial and in depth information about my specific condition (approx -4 and astigmatism in both eyes) and a number of options, including recommendations and costs, for me to consider. I had no hesitation whatsoever in wanting to pursue surgery with them (I had previously had consultations in 2 other major UK clinics but had left them feeling decidedly like a number rather than a person).

The surgery itself, as others have commented, was painless and quick. There are quite a few other technicians in the room with you which I didn’t expect but they all had specific jobs to do and were there to ensure my surgery went well so it didn’t really bother me. I was talked through every step so always knew what to expect. This, combined with the friendly disposition of everyone around you, really put me at ease.

A handful of minutes later we were on to the second eye and after about 10 minutes the whole procedure was complete. Once I sat up I was able to see around me clearly and painlessly. It’s quite mind blowing actually after so many years of glasses.

The only minor discomfort I felt during the procedure was a few seconds of pressure when the clamp is applied – but that was all and really it’s nothing to be concerned about.

After the op, I was seen again after about 20 minutes to make sure the surgeon was happy. I was talked through what to do for the following 24 hours and given everything I would need. I went through my 24 hour, 1 week and 1 month check ups with each confirming the growing strengthening of my sight (now better than 20:20). I had no infections just a case of mild dry eye for the first few weeks. It’s common, totally managable with drops and goes away by itself.

12 months on my vision is crisper than ever, day and night (especially important for driving) and I have developed a healthy collection of sunglasses. I have recommended Accuvision to a number of my glasses wearing friends and having seen my progress they could not be restrained from having surgery themselves. They too have had a similar experience to mine with Accuvision.

I would like to thank the various people I met during my many visits to Parsons Green. They do a terrific job with sunny dispositions and I wish them continued success. I am happy to recommend them for impartial advice, excellent care and fantastic results at a price that puts many of their competitors to shame. Finally, if you are unsure whether you are suitable for surgery or think it might just be too expensive or painful for you, what have you got to lose by finding out in a pressure free and informed environment?

Best thing I’ve done in a long time, only wish I’d done it earlier!

I had my treatment on 25th March, having thought long and hard about doing this. At the age of 43, I wondered whether I would be free of myopia only to find that a few years later I would need reading glasses. I had been told my my optician that they could under correct one eye, but I did not really like the idea of that, as when I had a weak contact lens in one eye but perfect in the other eye it gave me headaches.

At my initial consultation the optomotrist spent a long time talking to me about this, and put glasses on with the under correction . I didn’t even notice it until she pointed it out, and she did it so subtly that I did not have a chance to reject the idea. It made me really examine what choices I had to make.

I was put under no pressure to sign up there and then, and I left the clinic with no one giving me a follow up call. It gave me time to think.

What is impressive and gives you confidence is that as you are waiting for your appointment, people who have just had surgery sit inthe waiting room recovering. None of them are shaking or crying, but sitting quietly with their eyes closed. It makes you realise that the procedure cant be that bad.

I booked my appoointment for a few weeks time, and followed instructions to the letter about pre-care. I was very nervous on the day. I was told by the surgeon that I had made a good decision to try the one under correction, and was told that if I could not get on with it, they would do the full correction in 3 months time at no extra cost.

I am so glad I did it. It is incredibly liberating to be free of glasses. The mono vision has taken some time to get used to, but every day it gets better, and less noticeable. 3 weeks in, I hardly notice it now. My optician (a friend) looked at my eyes under her microscope a few days later and said that they had done a brilliant job and that it was healing really well.

I would say that if you choose to have this done, make sure you follow the pre and after care to the letter. It is vital that you respect the fact that your eyes have been operated on and that you must reduce the risk of infection.

I would recommend it to anyone. The worst bit is sitting in the reception waiting for it to happen. It does not hurt and is only really mildly uncomfortable.

Good luck with whatever choice you make.

One week after my surgery I have excellent vision. I am aware that there may be fluctuations because accuvision have been open and honest about the possibilities but I’m delighted so far. The staff were friendly and supportive throughout the proceedure and the level of care and service is outstanding. As the second person in my family to have successful surgery I will be recommending to anyone interested in lazer eye surgery that they approach accuvision for assessment. I travelled from Norfolk to have my treatment and it was worth the inconvenience of travelling to know that I would be treated by experts.

I initially visited Accuvision earlier this year for an assessment. A friend had previously been treated there and highly recommended them. Prior to that I had visited one of the major High Street chains. After my experience in the High Street I was not positive regarding what the outcome of my visit to Accuvision might be.

I could not have been more wrong!

At the High Street chain I was greeted by a young lady who was to be my “mentor” throughout, taken by her into the clinic area above the opticians’ shop, and after going through a few basics left to wait for the optician. When he arrived and took me into his room, he seemed more interested in telling me that he didn’t really want to be there, but as they’d allowed him to bring his wife and family for the weekend, he’d agreed to do it. Then he complained that he’d had no lunch. In the circumstances, I really wanted to hear all of this!

When he did eventually get around to the matter of the assessment, he quickly informed me that my left eye, which has been weak from birth, might not be suitable for laser treatment – and if it was treated it would be very expensive. Ultimately he pronounced that my left eye could not be treated, and he recommended that I make an appointment via my mentor to be assessed for lens implantation at their Harley Street clinic. When I asked what the cost of this would be, to say the least, his estimate was very expensive.

The optician took me downstairs to the shop to look for the mentor, and it transpired that she had gone out to lunch. Another mentor told me that if I would like to wait for about 20 minutes, she may have time to deal with me. I left at that point, asking them to get my mentor to phone me the next working day to make the appointment. I am still waiting for her call! Thank goodness she couldn’t be bothered!

When I visited the Accuvision clinic, things could not have been more different. My faith in human nature was restored! The clinic itself is very professionally appointed, and all of the staff are very friendly and efficient. I immediately felt relaxed and in the hands of professionals.

The optometrist put me through various tests, using modern computerised equipment. At every stage he explained what was happening and why. He told me that it WAS possible to have laser treatment, gave me the cost there and then (which was very good compared to the estimate received at the High Street chain), explained more about the treatment itself, and left me to decide if I wanted to go ahead. There was not any pressure. I was invited to go home and discuss the whole thing with my wife, and to give them a call if I wanted to go ahead.

Needless to say I called to arrange for the treatment to take place. I am ecstatic at the results that were achieved.

I was only at the clinic for a total of about an hour, of which the treatment itself took about 10 minutes. The rest was preparation time and after care. Again at every stage I received an explanation of what was happening, and I felt fully relaxed and in the hands of true professionals, who were very friendly throughout.

During the treatment itself, I only felt what I can describe as a very slight vibration on each eye – and only for a few seconds in each case. There was absolutely no discomfort. That evening there was minor discomfort, but again very professionally, I was told in advance exactly what to expect, given drops for my eyes and told to rest them for the rest of the night.

The next day it was amazing, the minor discomfort had gone. I went for a check up and already the sight in my previously better eye was perfect, even my other eye was almost perfect – that had not been the case since birth!

As I write, it’s now just over a week since my treatment – and my vision is still improving by the day. I can even read without glasses now – which I certainly wasn’t expecting.

Thank you to everyone at Accuvision for a very professional job extremely well done.
