It came down to 2 clinics – Accuvision and Ultralase. Both offered same price, but Accuvision had the edge on customer service and convinced me that their procedure was more up to date. I have no regrets and almost 3 weeks after surgery all is well, but for a little dry eye and some bruising of the eye ball above the eye lid. I have 20/20 vision for the first time in my life and it’s amazing. I would definately recommend getting Wavefront Lasik and Accuvision surpassed themselves in customer service.

My eyes were originally approx -6.75 (right) and -5.5. Originally operated on in August 2004 (Wavefront) and the initial results were VERY poor. After one month they had improved alot..but only to -0.75/+0.75 left and right -0.75. I was after having them redone, but I knew I would have to wait slightly longer anyway for a re-op. 2 months later my eyes had not changed more and they re-operated. Before the 2nd op I could go about my daily business just fine and was feeling reasonably happy viewing the world – just slightly short sighted, strong second image in my weaker eye (with wavefront surely this should never happen?!) , but I had no haze and low light levels were fine. After the second op, I came off with a hazy view of the world, although I could tell of a slight refraction improvement behind it. The main problem I have now 2 months after the 2nd op is the continual presence of haze all day long, which in my honest opinion hasn’t changed since the days after the op and is really getting to me – big problem regarding my visual acuity and my general confidence in how I go about in the world. Viewing things .e.g. number plate distances.. seems very poor..at times not being able to read them until right on top of my car. Night vision – I seem to be noticing trouble now (even though I have large pupils anyway)..changing to stronger light bulbs and using more lights in the house. Having been through 2 lasing of my eyes and witnessing the healing 1st time round, I am starting to strongly worry about the outcome of my eyes – another 2 months, 1/2, 1 year’s time, the same strong haze afflicting my view will still be with me?…nobody can say for sure. Now I wish maybe I never had the second op done. But also I wish I never had the WHOLE thing done altogether. I had completely perfect vision with contact lenses – I miss that ALOT – being able to read signs properly in the street and seeing into the distance clearly. Although my reason for having the op was the discomfort of the lenses after years of wearing them….my eyes still feel dry and irritable at times now anyway. My advice – it IS a gamble people..there are people who wish they didn’t have it done – like myself. I was no boarder line case either – health, age condition of my eyes. One massive long waiting game for myself now with no sure outcome at the end. A rating of 3*….a little meaningless.. how can anyone really rate a service like this against another one – you only have it once/twice with the same clinic.

I visited a few clinics to get different opinions, and I’m very pleased I chose Accuvision. Their service was first class, the staff were friendly and informative and the results have been excellent. If you’ve made your mind up that you want treatment, I’d definitely recommed this place to anyone.

My husband and I had our eye surgery about 9 weeks ago, and I think it’s time to consider the results.

My husband (with a real strong prescription, -11 / -9, that means blind as a mole and not allowed to wear contact lenses any more) and I (-3.5 and -1.5) had been interested in eye treatment for many years, but we had the feeling that eye treatment in Germany is not as common as in other countries. If somebody talked e. g. on TV about it, in most cases it was quite a negative report showing the risks, side effects etc. So we were very hesitant.

Nevertheless, two years ago my husband went to a prestigious ophthalmologist in Germany for a first consultation. He was told that his eyes could be treated by lasik, but a dioptre of about -2 would still remain. Continuing to wear glasses after eye surgery was not the result my husband wanted to have. So we again postponed the project “eye treatment”.

As fate would have it, my husband’s brother has been working in the lasik business for a few years. Travelling around the world, he has got access to specialists around the world, with a lot of experience, best staff and equipped with the best technology, etc., and so, fortunately, he got to know about Accuvision.
He had his own eye surgery there last year and he was so enthusiastic and happy about the result, that he convinced us, in many and detailed discussions, to take a trip to London.

Our flight was very early on March 17 and, a little bit tired, we arrived at the clinic at around 11 am. We got a warm welcome, and after some relaxing minutes and cups of coffee we both were called for parallel consultations. The consultations were very thorough and everything was explained to us in great detail. The outcome of the consultation was that we met all requirements for lasik surgery with optimal results. What a surprise for my husband, who hadn’t expected that!

As we felt ourselves to be in the best of hands at Accuvision we didn’t hesitate, and decided to undergo the treatment the same day. My husband went first. He was very nervous when going to the operating theatre, but when he came back after about 15 minutes he was all smiles and said that it was completely painless and there was no need to worry. My turn came later in the afternoon. The whole procedure also took no more than 15 minutes – I found it a little bit uncomfortable, but painless.

During the evening vision was a little bit blurred, but the next morning the “aha” experience came when we woke up. We could see details in the room and in the gardens outsight of the hotel very clearly without glasses. The consultation on that morning at Accuvision was again very thorough and professional, and we were pronounced with 20/20 vision. What a touching moment! We enjoyed the next two days in London very much with sightseeing tours, a musical and so on. Without glasses!!
After some ups and downs in the next two weeks (which were predicted by Accuvision) we now have constant perfect vision. We still have moments when we can’t believe that those 15 minutes changed our lives so positively. It was the best of decisions to have our eyes treated, and to have had the surgery done by Accuvision.

The friendly Accuvision team does such an excellent job that, with a clear conscience, we can advise everybody who is interested in having eye treatment by lasik to get in touch with them.

It is about two years now since I had laser eye surgery at Accuvision. Prior to deciding whether to have treatment I looked at a number of sites & found this one the most useful. I was interested to know what peoples experience was some while after surgery, rather than just after a few weeks. As I am now in that position myself, I thought it might be useful to recount my own experience. I had laser eye surgery two years ago when I was 51. The entire process was speedy, without pain & completely successful.

Pre-treatment, I had short sight. My prescription was between -8.5 & -9.5 with severe astigmatism in both eyes. I became aware that some clinics only dealt with less severe conditions & after some six months of looking at the web, dithering & irresolution, I decided to make an appointment at Accuvision who seemed to cover all eventualities. They had received almost evangelical praise from people having used them & I think that was what tipped the balance for me. When I visited, there was no hard sell & I felt that I was being given space to make up my mind. Measurements were taken & I was assured that I was a suitable case. After a few more days pondering, I made the appointment for the surgery a few weeks hence – in May 2003. I did nothing in particular before surgery other than have a couple of days off work to rest (if not relax) before the treatment.

The actual treatment was a pleasant anti-climax. I recall having some form of drops put in my eyes a few minutes before being ushered into the treatment room. The laser didn’t look much different to the sort of equipment I’d see in a dentist’s room (but of course my sight wasn’t very good!). I think I recall some checks to line up laser & I. There was no discomfort as such, but there was some form of fitment to make sure I didn’t blink mid-zap.

Each eye took only about 30 seconds to a minute. I could hear whirring & it looked like I was looking through an old fashioned kaleidoscope. The instant it was over, I could see better albeit through slightly watery eyes. I doubt I was in the treatment room for more than 10-15 minutes. After treatment, I sat out in the main reception area for some minutes & then back in to another room to check that all had gone to plan. I was already seeing well, but it was emphasised that I should keep my eyes shut for the rest of the day & take drops in the eye for a two or three days at gradually increasing intervals. I was told that the first 24 hours were very important & to stick to the regime suggested.

Although I’d read of others going straight out after surgery, I followed my instructions to the letter. We took a cab home & I had a very boring afternoon & evening with my eyes shut, but with the consolation of Radio 4. I took the drops at the times recommended. There was no pain. Once at home, I found the first two or three hours mildly uncomfortable – a bit like your eye might feel if you’ve taken a lash out – when it still stings a little, but that was all. For the first couple of nights, I had to wear goggles (to protect the eye in case you rub it unintentionally when asleep) & could do a fair imitation of a human to bluebottle mutant. I took a further week off work to give my eyes a good rest. Personally, I think this is a good idea. You might not feel you need it, but having paid good money out to get good eyesight, it seems worth taking a few extra days just to make sure. If nothing else, it gives you time to get used to what you look like in a mirror!

And that was that! I returned the day after surgery & was assured all had gone well. I could see perfectly. I returned at the requisite times – as I recall it, a week after, a month after & three months after. For good measure I returned after a year & (finally) recently after all but two years. Each visit confirmed that the treatment was a success, that there was no problem with the eyes & that all was fine. I have no need of glasses, I can read perfectly, use a computer. I have no problem driving – day or night & experience on ‘night-vision’ problems. I’ve no need to go back to Accuvision anymore – but I think I will actually miss it! I felt I owed them a debt, for what they have done for me – hence this message.

This surgery really can be life changing. I had worn glasses for 40 years & resented the fact for about 39. The psychological effect of my not wearing glasses has been immense. I feel far happier inside my own skin & I think my dealings with the outside world – friends, family & work have all been enhanced. This is a big step & you would be well advised to think it through at your own pace. If my experience is anything to go by, Accuvision are well worth a visit. For me, everything promised has come about with minimum hassle & to considerable effect. I really cannot emphasise enough how much better it has made me feel – hence my recommendation & thanks to Accuvision.

After reading some testimonals on the Accuvision website and following research of other clinics, I decided to go ahead and have a consultation for laser eye surgery with Accuvision. I had my consultation on Friday 26th August and happily was told I was suitable for treatment. Bearing in mind my prescription was +5.25 left eye and +5.00 right eye I was not overly optimistic I would be accepted. I booked my surgery day for last Wednesday 31st August. I can honestly say that the whole experience was totally painless and all the staff were very helpful and willing to discuss any questions and worries. I only had slight gritty feeling on the actual day and woke up the following morning with brilliant vision. I could even see the GMTV clock! I went for the first checkup on day 2 and had excellent vision, even able to do the crossword on the train. It has been getting better and clearer each day and I cant for my weekly checkup on Thursday. I will update the entry. All those ‘thinking’ about it, go for it. I just wish I had done it years ago.

I had custom wavefront guided lasik on the 3rd August. I chose Accuvision mainly because of the laser they use and the fact that it uses less corneal tissue than all the other lasers. The service has been very professional so far.
I was -4.00 and -2.75 with astigmatism in both eyes. Surgery was uncomfortable but not too bad, post surgery was like having onions rubbed into my eyes and this effect lasted for about two hours. After that I just had the feeling of having left my contact lenses in too long.

I could tell straight away that the vision in my right eye was perfect and as a result I have started to worry about my left eye. I know it’s early days (only two days post op) but I’m wondering if my left eye will get better.

Vision in my right eye in the follow up session the day after surgery was better than 20/20 – which I knew myself as my vision was just crystal clear. My left eye however was only just 20/20 and the vision was blurred.

This is still the case after two days and I’m worried I’m stuck with blurred vision in my left eye. Has anyone else had this experience? Can the vision in my left eye improve? I can’t help thinking that they’ve undercorrected the vision in my left eye…

It’s still great to walk around without glasses or lenses and I can’t fault Accuvision so far. I’ll update this forum next week once I have my checkup.

Cheers Ian

My short sighted astigmatic abnormal eyes were treated 48 hours ago by the team of Darius (centre founder), Dr Chad Rostron (surgeon) using the Wavelight Industries Allegretto laser. Some months before the surgery I had two very comprehensive and excellent consultations with Vikash preparing me for my decision.
In my research I was interested in specialist clinics which were not part of a large chain and which also had a large number of positive reviews on the lasik-eyes website. My list was then narrowed down to just three clinics.
Due to my abnormal corneas, one of my selected clinics turned me down flat, another other said they were 70% certain they would not treat me. This left me with a difficult decision as some of the “top guys” with the top prices in the industry advised me not to proceed with laser eye surgery.
Accuvision were the first clinic I went to see because I was impressed by the patient write-ups on the lasik-eyes website and also my web research into Wavelight Industries. I emailed a doctor in the states who has written a number of lasik articles and has experience of both Allegretto and Technolas. He came back with “They are both top line. The Allegretto has performed better in the individual FDA trials in the US (accuracy-quality of vision)”.
I now realise that because the team at Accuvision gets such a large amount of other clinic “rejects” their range of experience and expertise in the area of lasik is a lot higher, particularly with complicated cases and they are able to more finely differentiate between the unusual cases and definitely untreatable cases.
I know this is very early after the operation and am aware that with lasik over time vision can go down as well as up, but so far 48 hours on I’m over the moon to be driving around and enjoying life without contact lenses and glasses. (Right eye from -2.75 SPH, -0.5 CYL, Left eye from -2.5 SPH, -0.75 CYL. Requested target was right zero and left -0.75 for slight monovision. Age 43.)

It’s now 2 1/2 years since my wavefront guided lasik with accuvission and about 1 1/2 years since my last review on this site. To recap I had +6.5 long sight & it took over a year for my eyes to settle down. I still have 20/20 vision within the conditions of an optition – however they do notice my astigmatism which Accuvision said they sorted out. I recently failed a driving test on not being able to read the number plate. My vision is poor in dim lighting, in all but the most overcast days I need sunglasses. My partner thinks it’s the worst £3k I ever spent! However I still feel liberated by not wearing glasses, sunglasses I can cope with (that’s what they’re for!) & lights are there at night. I have phoned Accuvision but was told by the receptionist I’d have to pay for extra treatment as it’s more than a year since I had it done.
