At first I was thinking of going with Accuvision for my surgery purely on the competitive prices they had. It was only when I went for my consultation when I realised they were definitely the most reliable and professional eye surgery clinic on offer. I had been to consultations with other companies and I felt that I had met more salesmen than I had actual professionals on the day. One particular company even tried to tempt me to book it ASAP so I could save a further 10% on top of my NHS discount, which is absolute nonsense when it’s life altering and irreversible surgery that you’re considering. With Accuvision this was not the case at all. The Optometrist fully explained the procedure required for my prescription and answered any questions. There was an incident where one company had said I wasn’t suitable to have Lasik treatment whereas Accuvision said I was. This other company stated that if something was to go wrong then I couldn’t get any re-treatment. I voiced my concern to Accuvision and the Optometrist explained that the only reason for this is the difference in the equipment each company uses, as they have to work around safety guidelines in regards to your eye’s corneal thickness. But Accuvision were also very concerned how the other company told me what would happen "If it was to go wrong", which is an excellent point. The surgery was quick and almost completely painless, a moment of discomfort in each eye and it’s done. My eyes have healed perfectly and have had no problems at all. I would highly recommend Accuvision for professional and affordable service.

Is it worth the expense? Is it really that good? Is Accuvision the right choice? YES, YES AND YES! I am a 23 year old male who has been dependant on glasses and / or contact lenses for as long as I can remember. Right from an early age it was apparent my vision demanded a high prescription and as such have had ‘milk bottle’ type spectacles ever since. At 18 I decided to make the transition from glasses to soft contact lenses mainly for freedom and ease of use. A few years passed and my eyes became irritated with over use, I swapped to rigid contact lenses which seemed to work until recently…. The irritation on my eyes coupled with numerous trips to the opticians led me to seek for an alternative. After weeks, perhaps even months, of trawling internet sites and in-depth research into laser eye surgery I decided to contact a few different clinics to discuss possible options, unfortunately though due to my high prescription (+6.25 and +5.50) I was told by most that I was an ‘unsuitable’ candidate. I then contacted Accuvision who claimed to be able to treat people who have been turned away by other clinics, (They can! But I’ll get to that a bit later on…) I made contact with Accuvision and after they had answered all my questions (and believe me, I had a lot,) I arranged a consultation at my nearest clinic, Solihull. On the day of my consultation I was met by an optometrist who answered a further list of questions honestly and with integrity, making it quite clear to me all the risks involved and likely outcomes. I think now would be a good time to say that after speaking to other clinics Accuvision didn’t once over promise and then not deliver, they were clear and consistent with their answers and made me feel as though I could approach them to obtain any amount of information. After a huge amount of thought and due-diligence I decided to take the plunge and book my surgery. On the morning of surgery I was naturally anxious but excited. The treatment itself was short and painless; at the most I would describe it as being ‘uncomfortable’ for a few minutes. After the treatment I was told to go home and rest, keeping my eyes closed as much as possible before returning the following day for a post-op check up. The morning after I was honestly shocked, I reached to put my glasses on, and everything became blurred, I took them off and everything was in HD (I still sometimes do this to this day!) It’s difficult to comprehend vision like this with out an aid if you’ve never needed glasses, but I knew instantly that the treatment was worth every penny. Over the next few weeks my vision varied in quality but soon found a level and seems to have maintained this. A few months down the line I’ve just been for my six month check up and I’m delighted to say I now have 20/20 vision. I’d therefore have no hesitation in recommending the surgery to anyone and would highly recommend the team at Accuvision.

I had Astigmatism, Lazy Eye, with my short sightedness, I was so fed up and hated my glasses, I had my eyes lasered at Leeds clinic, best decision I’ve ever made its like winning the lottery to me, my right eye was -3.75/-1.50 now it’s 20/20 and my left eye which was my Lazy eye was -10.00/-3.50 and now it’s 20/40 which is driving standard. Worth every penny thanks to the whole team who looked after me, they have changed my life, I’m more confident, I can now do things I couldn’t before. Thank you to everyone at the Accuvision Wetherby clinic. X

Happy to share my story that spanned across 12 years. Initial Lasik in 1998 that went terribly wrong – to 2010 Lasik correction that has me now functioning without glasses for the first time in my life.

The following link provides access to my recent blog which shows more than appreciation for the successful correction by the Surgeons at Accuvision in London. The blog shows comparison X-Y plots revealing the actual botched Lasik results that the Accuvision team was presented with, right next to the successful results by the Accuvision Surgeons. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I’ll leave each person to his or her own observations.

You may need to scroll down on the blog link to find my February 7. 2011 blog ‘To See or Not to See’… American, Jim Barrett

Additionally, at the bottom of the blog is the video testimony I made just after my second eye was successfully corrected by Accuvision in July 2010.

Regarding your quest to find if the industry has minimized complications, well my personal experience is that many Lasik providers lack in-depth knowledge of the equipment they purchase, and its theory of operation. They are unable to recognize miscalculations and therefor initiate mistreatment, albeit with good intentions, that results in many poor, if not terrible, results.

During my 12 year search, and wait, for technology and expertise, I saw or communicated with over 25 Lasik professionals world wide, including major Laser Mfg point Surgeon’s and R&D Doctors, one of which would have left me blind, OS, if I had followed the recommended course of action.

Sadly, I found that individual country politics bans some of the best technology from their shores, and thereby inhibits developing expertise to use it – even if it were made available.

Insurance companies fall in a similar category of tunnel vision, at least in my case, when after I explained my situation the insurance representative believed that Lasik is Lasik and explained that even for corrective Lasik the procedure would only be covered if done in America. If that were the case, well check out my 1998 Lasik compared to my 2010 Lasik results…..so much for Lasik is Lasik.

From the start of my experience at Wetherby clinic, with Simon Falk I have nothing but good things to say about my treatment for Hyperopia. Everybody is so nice and helpful and make you feel at ease. The surgery itself take’s a matter of minutes and is painless completely. It is definitely the best money I have ever spent. Thanks again to Simon and all the team at Wetherby. Kind Regards Ged Beadle

Comments: On December 8th & 22nd 2011 I had intra ocular lens transplants. I went through a long process before getting to this point over a year of consideration and looking at two other companies. It wasn’t until I met Vikash Patel at Fulham that I got the consultation, reassurance, and advice that I needed. A big thank you to him, also to Chad who was brilliant and delivered exactly what he had predicted. Also a thank you to the other patients who replied to me via their testimonials with help and advice. If you are looking to get this treatment, look no further.

It took me some careful research before I was happy to proceed with laser eye treatment. I chose Accuvision from amongst three providers of laser eye treatment and I know that I made the right choice. I was made to feel welcome, personally cared for and that the treatment I would receive was specifically designed around my needs. The results were excellent and I can now see better than I ever recall in my 40 years of wearing glasses and contact lenses. What a gift! I would recommend without hesitation the Leeds clinic to my closest friends and family. Be assured of individual and sensitive care and high quality professional treatment. I now wonder why I waited so long.

I wore glasses and contact lenses for 20 years and from having -5 sight I now I have 20:20. Its unbelievable. I had the treatment just over 3 months ago and I still haven’t got used to not needing my glasses as soon as I wake up! It is incredible being able to see without aid. I am so happy. It is a life changing experience. I am a teacher of small children and it has made life easier at school, I don’t have issues with my contacts or have my glasses sliding down my nose at unhelpful moments. I was incredibly nervous of the procedure even though I was told everything that would happen. I had the surgery where they cut the flap (which freaks everyone out) but infact was fine. On the day of surgery it all happened so fast. I was in and out so quickly. The team were so professional and I felt safe all the time. There was no pain, just discomfort for the first few days. Thank you everyone at Accuvision London. You have changed my life and I am still astounded. I can not believe the clarity some days!

After quite a few years of research into laser eye surgery I came across Accuvision. After reading other patients testimonials I decided that I was going to take the plunge and book a consultation for the Leeds Clinic. I met with Simon Falk at his practice in Leeds in September 2009 and was immediately put at ease. After a thorough examination of my eyes by Simon I was told that I was suitable for laser eye surgery and was offered the option of Lasik or Lasek surgery. I decided the best option for me was to go with the Lasik surgery. As the clinic in Leeds was due to open in October I decided that I would wait for a few months before going ahead with the surgery. I finally booked my surgery date for 16th February 2010 and arrived at the clinic at 11am for my surgery. To say that I was a little nervous was an understatement, but I was greeted by Vic and immediately put at ease. I met with Simon again and was given a final check before I went ahead with my surgery. The whole procedure lasted less than 5 minutes and I had both eyes treated at the same appointment. It was an intense feeling but no pain what so ever. When I went back the following day for them to check my eyes, it was the first time in 15 years that I could see without my glasses.
I have just been for my one month checkup this week and I now have better than 20/20 vision and am thrilled not to have to wear my glasses any longer, it has made such a difference!
I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Accuvision for their care and support, in particular Simon, who has put me totally at ease throughout all my visits. Thanks once again!!
Sarah
