I HAD WORN GLASSES FROM THE AGE OF 12, I HATED WEARING THEM. IN ADULT LIFE I BECAME A SOCIAL MOTORBIKE RIDER WHICH WAS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT WITH WEARING GLASSES, IT WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WEARING A HELMET AND TRYING TO KEEP MY GLASSES ON STRAIGHT. I STARTED WEARING CONTACT LENSES BUT WITH MY TRADE AS AN ELECTRICIAN I FOUND THIS VERY DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF THE DUSTY ENVIRONMENT. AFTER YEARS OF PUTTING UP WITH EITHER GLASSES OR CONTACT LENSES I DECIDED TO LOOK INTO LASER EYE SURGERY. I ENQUIRED AT OPTIMAX AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO OFFER ME LASER SURGERY BUT OFFERED PERMANENT IMPLANTABLE CONTACT LENSES BECAUSE OF MY PRESCRIPTION, WHICH WAS +4 AND +4.25 WITH ASTIGMATISM. I DID NOT WANT TO HAVE IMPLANTS BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING WITH NORMAL CONTACT LENSES. I THEN APPROACHED ULTRALASE WHO ADVISED ME TO HAVE A CONSULTATION. I ATTENDED AND HAD AN EYE EXAMINATION AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT DO LASER EYE SURGERY AS I WOULD LOSE THE ABILITY TO READ A LINE ON THE EYE CHART. AFTER BEING REFUSED I WAS DEVISTATED. A FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS WORKING IN SOLIHULL ON THE NEW ACCUVISION CLINIC, WHERE I MET NICK AND MIKE WHO ARE DIRECTORS OF THE COMPANY. I TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY WITH THE OTHER COMPANIES AND THEY WERE NOT SUPRISED. THEY WERE VERY REASSURING AND EXPLAINED ABOUT THE NEW STYLE LASERS THAT THEY USED, WHICH MEANT THAT THEY COULD DO HIGHER PRESCRIPTIONS AND ASTIGMATISMS. I ARRANGED THEN TO HAVE A CONSULTATION AND HAD A VERY THOROUGH EYE EXAMINATION WHERE I FOUND OUT MY EYES WERE ACTUALLY +4 AND +5 WITH ASTIGMATISM, I EXPECTED AFTER FINDING THIS OUT THAT THEY LIKE THE OTHER COMPANIES WOULD REFUSE TO DO THE PROCEDURE BUT IN FACT THE OPPOSITE WAS TRUE. I WAS REASSURED THAT THEY COULD INFACT DO THE PROCEDURE AND GIVE ME BACK 20/20 VISION. I HAD THE PROCEDURE DONE IN OCTOBER 2004, WHRE I ADMIT I WAS VERY NERVOUS BUT THE STAFF WERE BRILLIANT. THEY WERE TOTALLY PROFFESSIONAL AND VERY CARING TO EVERYONE INCLUDING MYSELF THAT HAD THE PROCEDURE DONE THAT DAY. AFTER HAVING THE PROCEDURE THEIR AFTERCARE IS EXCELLENT, I HAD VARIOUS CHECK UPS AT ROUTINE INTERVALS. MY VISION IS STILL BEING MONITORED, I NOW HAVE 20/20 VISION WITH SOME GOOD DAYS AND SOME BAD DAYS, BUT I AM REASSURED THAT MY EYES DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF MY OLD PRESCRIPTION CAN TAKE UP TO SIX MONTHS TO SETTLE DOWN. IT IS BRILLIANT AT LAST NOT TO HAVE TO RELY ON GLASSES OR LENSES I CAN DO MY TRADE WITH NO WORRIES NOW AND CAN AT LAST RIDE MY MOTORCYCLE WITHOUT THE INCONVENIENCE OF GLASSES. I NOW FEEL IT HAS BEEN A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR ME I CAN SEE THINGS CLEARLY THAT I NEVER COULD WITH GLASSES/LENSES. THE SOLIHULL CLINIC HAVE BEEN BRILLIANT I WOULD RECCOMEND THEM TO ANYONE LOOKING AT HAVING CORRECTIVE EYE SURGERY.

After starting to wear glasses circa 1997 just for reading and working at the computer and ten years later having to wear them practically for everything, I knew it was time for action. Having thoroughly reviewed many many eye clinics offerings (including Harley Street)and conducted research over a period of six months, I finally based my decision on four key ingredients, listed now in order. Surgeon qualifications and availability, top technology, the best rating on this site after taking into account the number of people rating the clinic in comparison to the actual rating score and finally, value for money (not that one should ever put a price on eyesight). There was only one, in my opinion, that stood out head and shoulders above the rest – Accuvision. I’m not going to go into masses of detail ‘cos it’s been highlighted many many times in the many many reviews you read here. I will simply make these observations: they do what it says on their website, 110% professional but with good humour and the most wonderful way of making you feel relaxed, comfortable and SAFE. Cannot thank the entire team enough. 24 hours was all my little miracle took and I’ve never used glasses since the surgery was done in early June 2005. 99.9% 20/20 vision and mine was complicated!! 10 x better than a dentist visit and 100 x better than a female healthcheck 😉 Get your appointment booked now.

I had surgery at Solihull on 28th July. After my original consultation I was very impressed with the clinic, the atmosphere was excellant.Nick was superb during my examination and answered all the questiones I had, even looking at the ones Id printed from this site. I was shown the operating room and the laser. I was so confidant and relaxed. The consultation lasted just over an hour. Anyway I checked out another clinic but they just couldnt live up to the standards shown by nick danash, who was very easy to talk to and honest. On surgery day I arrived at the clinic, some people were waiting for surgery others sat with their eyes shut (this was advised after surgery as it helps the healing process) The atmosphere was relaxed and the clinic staff were friendly and helpful, I felt totally at ease, as did the majority of people in the clinic. My prescription was -3.00 and -2.75 with an astigmatism in one eye, I also had a thinner than normal lens and my pupils were very large. I went in for an examination on machines that fed the laser information, then went to meet the surgeon who checked my eyes and was happy with proceeding. I was taken through to the laser room and given drops, the staff were 100%, a nurse asked if I wanted her to hold my hand and apologised because her hands were cold. The first eye was started, drops were added and then the machine which cuts the lens was put on my eye, the cut lasted approx 1-2 seconds (at which time everything goes black) once lifted off everything was very burred, more drops and I could see the surgeon brushing my eye, the laser was switched on and I could smell burning (this is not your eye it is apparently the laser evaporating the drops on the eye)this lasted 13 seconds, more drops then the lens put back and a contact lens placed on my eye(to help the healing and stop infection)
A wait of maybe 5 minutes followed whilst the laser was checked and reset. The same procedure for the other eye but the laser was actually on my eye for 30 seconds this time. The time goes very fast. I was amazed by the number of drops that the surgeaon kept putting in my eye throughout the procedure. Immediatly after I could see (blurred slightly ) the surgeon examined my eyes immediatly and was happy. I walked back to the waiting room and sat with my eyes shut. Approx 15/20 minutes later further drops were added to my eye and I was ready to leave, I had to put drops in my eyes every hour until bed time when you tape hard clear plastic lens to stop you rubbing your eyes in the night, (I worn sunglasses until bedtime to stop me rubbing my eyes.
THERE WAS NO PAIN DURING SURGERY. The only discomfort was for the 4 hours after surgery and this was similiar ro an eyelash in your eye, or when you leave your contact lenses in too long -this went off when the drops were added.
The next day I returned to the clinic and the contact lens was removed – my vision was really good, very slightly blurred, this improved when the lens was removed. I could see clearly – my vision was 20/20. I have been for my second check up and stopped using the drops, Im going for my third check up tomorrow. My vision is 100%. I can read a book, work at the computer, drive its amazing.
The staff at solihull are amazing, 100% professional and worth every penny.I wish Id done this sooner it really is fantastic.

Had consultation with Nick at Solihull on Mon 8th Aug, was so impressed that I booked surgery for Wed 10th. My prescription was -6.00 and -5.75, extremely short sighted. I basically chose Accuvision because Ultralase and Optimax I didn’t find very friendly on the phone but Accuvision were totally different, nothing is too much trouble. Was very nervous on the day (I have been known to faint at a check-up at the dentist!)I pleaded with my husband to take me home, I even convinced myself I liked my glasses, but luckily he stuck to his guns and made me stay! At that point I was called in and became very calm really, I think because they are so friendly at Accuvision it really does put you at ease. I lay back and prepared myself for a horrendous experience of eyeballs being squeezed and stinging and all sorts of uncomfortable things BUT my goodness me it was almost a pleasant experience (well nearly!) really you do not feel anything, just lots of flashing lights and a slight smell of burning which for me was probably the worst bit, I actually think that a visit to the dental hygienist is a worse experience. The operation was extremely successful, a week on and my vision is as good as with my contact lenses, although Nick has told me that it will get even better as time goes on, which I know it will because it has got better and better over the past week. It is a fantastic feeling not having to rely on glasses and lenses and for anyone out there who is thinking of having it done go ahead and do it the whole thing takes a few seconds, and for me it has certainly enhanced my life. I cannot thank Accuvision enough and would most certainly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of having laser eye treatment.

I cant praise Accuvison highly enough from the moment you walk in you instantly feel comfortable with the surroundings, i was welcomed by the lovely Monica at reception – gorgeous smile. Vikash Patel conducted my consultation and was very thorough and relayed my initial fears as i effectively have only one working eye. I chose Accuvision as they were able to accomodate for my tricky Prescription which was L (EYE) +5.50 Astigmatism of 1.75 & axis of 145. i had surgery on the 8th August 2005 and i can honestly say i have not looked back since, for me it was the best decision of my life and i now have vision just shy of 20/20, The surgery team consisted of Darius, Mr Roston & Joan, throughout the painless surgery i was constantly spoken to – which made me feel at ease. The whole team at Accuvision are so friendly and extremely Professional, i can now wake up and not have to worry about putting contact lenses in or wearing glasses, i actually feel free and totally confident as i will not have to worry about getting red eyes through contacts. i throughly recommend you to Accuvision. Remember one thing Accuvision is the best forget the rest. Thankyou to everyone at Accuvision.

I recently had my laser surgery just over a month ago my prescription was very high and I was generally getting very fed up with wearing contact lenses and also the fact that I was wearing glasses for nearly twenty years.

I visited Accuvision for a initial consultation and I was very impressed with the friendly service they provided.

They were very informative about the whole procedure and explained everything to me. They made me feel very relaxed about the whole process and made me feel more confident about having the corrective surgery done considering I was very nervous about the whole process.

When I finally underwent the corrective surgery, they made me feel very calm about the whole process. The surgery was over within minutes and I was unable to feel anything. During the first few hours I experience some discomfort but they explained that this was normal. I went home to sleep and the following day I woke up and my vision was excellent it was like I was this new person and I was so excited about the fact that I could wake up and be able to see everything again without having to reach for my glasses also the fact that in the long run I considered this to a cheaper option rather that continuing to wear glasses and contact lenses.

I was given the all clear the following day when I visited the clinic and I was able to resume back to my normal working life. I was able to drive and use the computer. When people say that you cannot drive and use the computer for a couple of weeks I found to be a myth. I recovered within 24 hours and I was fine.

I would say that I found the whole corrective surgery an experience and has made me a new person. I found that the staff at Accuvision help me achieve this as they calmed me down during the whole process, were informative and very helpful which I felt was top of their priorties when I first visited them.

I would recommend corrective surgery to anyone who is considering it. I would also recommend Accuvision as a Clinic who are committed to achieving the best results possible for you.

I had laser eye surgery on April 20th 2005. Let me admit at the outset that I am one of life’s worriers. I reasearched Laser eye surgery for over two years following an initial consultation with Ultralase in London, and I mean RESEARCHED!! I was in two minds – I wanted it done, but didn’t really think I could trust anyone to slice into my eyes. When I met Nick Dash at Accuvision, Solihull I was incredibly impressed by his obvious knowledge, experience and genuine continued interest in Laser surgery. He very thoroughly answered all of my questions (I was there for a LONG time) and showed me the operating room which helped remove some of the mystery/fear of the unknown. I left with his email address for further questions. I also saw the CV of the surgeon who would be performing the surgery – Dr. Jyotin Pandit.
I have large pupils and had learnt early on that I should have wavefront treatment and boy am I glad I did. I was offered ordinary laser eye surgery for much cheaper (£1200) by a company who said my pupils weren’t large by their standards. As many others have said on this site money shouldn’t really come into this decision. I willingly (and this is someone who is generally financially cautious!) paid £2000 to Accuvision. I wasn’t buying a pair of shoes. I didn’t want to be treated with archaic technology, wanted the best possible outcome and professional, intelligent and sensitive staff to treat me.
Before I decided to go ahead with the surgery I read a sensible review from a guy on this site who like me was delighted with his new perfect vision. However, he added with it a word of caution that you cannot guarantee anything and that is exactly how I feel now.
I would hate for someone to read this review and solely on the basis of my experience be influenced to decide to have it done. See, I told you I was one of life’s worriers!:) In my case I looked at the statistics on the web of what can go wrong and had to choose that I wanted to give it a try (I’ve been blessed with a very smart mentor-type of father who encouraged me by saying ‘Hey, with those odds I’d bet the farm!). Accuvision seemed good and indeed they are. Links that I particularly remember as useful were www.nurseowens.clara.net/lasik_diary.htm for a description of a personal experience of surgery and for statistics and risk http://www.londonvisionclinic.com/process_risks.html .
My prescription before was -2.75 & -3.75 with significant astigmatism. I now have almost 200% vision! Good luck.

I am back at work 48 hours after having surgery which says a lot about how easy the procedure is. My initial check-up said better than 20/20. My prescription was -3.00 in each eye. I compared 3 clinics, Ultralase, Optical Express and Accuvision. I went for Accuvision because the environment felt right and the surgeon, Chad Rostron works in the NHS which is listed as an important criteria on the choosing the surgeon page on this site. The surgery was very quick and their approach was very calming. Nevertheless, you do worry that you are completely mad in deciding to have your eye cut into! If you are nervous of dentists etc ask if you can take a valium or something. Fortunately it is over very quickly and is completely painless. I kept my eyes shut from surgery until the next morning as this helps healing. It basically feels like you have some soap and an inside out contact lense in your eye for about 2 hours post surgery. The next day feels like you have been wearing contact lenses for too long and now, 48 hours later, I just feel like I have contact lenses in, I always found my vision slightly blurry when scrolling down a computer page too quickly with contact lenses in and this is exactly the same sensation. I will post again in a couple of months to confirm that my eyes feel 100% normal but so far I am really happy with the result.
