Generaly the cost seems to be around £3,600 for both eyes. But i think it varies depending on your vision. You pay more, but you definatley get the best treatment – after all it is your eyes!

Go and see them at the clinic and have a consultation – you will know if it is the place as soon as you walk through the door and meet the people.

Good Luck

Fourteen years ago I made what was probably the worst decision of my life. I had corrective eye surgery. Not laser surgery – that was still in the experimental stage at the time – but the old so-called ‘Russian Operation’ or to give it its proper name Radial Keratotomy (RK). This had had some amount of publicity back in the late 1980s. At that time I had worn glasses for myopia for 16 years. I had loathed and detested them from the outset. At age 16 I progressed to contact lenses (my father bought me them as a present for passing all my ‘O’ Levels, probably the only reason I did any revision!) I subsequently wore them morning, noon and night and ended being told by my optician that my eyes would inevitably reject them at some time in the future. Panic set in until I saw an article about RK. It involved making between 4, 8,12 or 16 microscopic incisions in the cornea which would then flatten it, thus reducing the myopia. To cut a long story short I had the operation in June 1989. The plan was to do my slightly worse right eye first then follow on with the left when this had stabalised. I went into the operating theatre confident that it would work. I was sadly disillusioned. The refraction was reduced by a paltry dioptre and I was left with eight scars on my right eye. I was devastated. Fortunately I was still able to wear contact lenses but the fit on the right eye was never as good as the left. As the years went by and laser surgery began to gain momentum I bitterly regretted having the RK – if only I had waited. I was led to believe by various opticians that I should count myself lucky I could still wear contacts and that no laser clinic would ever touch my damaged eye. Then I discovered this web-site and posted an account of my problem. Accuvision were the only clinic to return a comprehensive reply. On studying their web-site and the comments made on lasik-eyes I soon realised that if anyone could help then they could. The only thing I found slightly off-putting was the location – I live in Leeds – but I didn’t feel any of the local clinics could offer their level of expertise. Subsequently I booked a consultation on August 11th 2003.

I went to the consultation thinking in the back of my mind that Accuvision would not be able to help. I was wrong. After a thorough 2 hour assessment I heard the words I had been waiting for for so many years – I could be helped! I was to have Customised Lasik which would correct the defects to my own individual eye topography not just my prescription. I was made aware they may not ‘hit zero’ with the right eye due to the scarring but I was prepared to take the risk as I had such confidence with them by this stage.

4th September was the day of reckoning. It went like a dream. No pain, no needles, just a slight feeling of pressure when the clamp was put in. The next day my -4.75/-.75 left eye tested at just under 20/20. The right eye (previously -3.75/-.75) had been left with a bandage contact lens overnight so was not quite as good but as soon as the lens was removed it seemed to glide into place. A week later I returned to the clinic to find that the right eye had obtained 20/15. The left eye was slightly behind (but still very good) which had been done deliberately due to my age (42) to allow a longer time before I need reading glasses.

I realise there are a lot of people out there who have had sub-optimum results from eye surgery and I would not hesitate to recommend a consultation with Accuvision. They are, quite simply, the best.

I never thought I could be helped. I was. I feel as if my life has started over. Fourteen years ago I made the worst decision of my life. On 11th August 2003 I made the best.

To everyone at Accuvison .. Thank You.

I had Lasik treatment about 6 weeks ago at accuvision in Fulham. My prescription was r-8.00 / -1.00 x 180 and l-6.50 / -1.50 x 180. I was absolutely sick and tired of wearing glasses and was actually told by my optician to stop wearing contact lenses completely because of a lack of oxygen getting through to my eyes. I found i could not wear my lenses any longer anyway, it just got too uncomfortable.

The surgery was painless and the recovery was amazing. 6 weeks on and my eyesight is fabulous, i have better than 20/20 vision without any post op problems, whatsoever. My corneas were slightly thinner than average, but given the advanced customised technology that Accuvision use, they are able to customise flaps which saves more tissue, which meant it was safe for me to have the treatment.

The team at Accuvision, all the way from admin at inital enquiry to the surgeon on the day have been brilliant and i cannot thank them enough for giving me my eyesight back.

When it comes to deciding who to trust your eyes to, check out the team at Accuvision, after all you only have one pair of eyes.

well this is a year & half update for +6 & +6.5 with big astigmatisms.

It was scary, it was expensive & my eye sight still fluctuates (i have one bad day per three weeks where i would not drive if i knew how to).

I’ve been to an indpendant optisions who said i had over 2020 vision & slight astigmatisms & when the looked at my last prescription nearly fell of the seat in amazement & now recomments it to customers who ask as my eyes are so healthy & vision so good.

I would do it again, i am always recommending it to people & have so many friends who had it done i wonder if i could get some money back…?

please feel free to contact me for specifics i have posted before & am always happy to talk about my experiences.

My story is fairly simple;
About November 2002 I read all the websites and found the clinics that were reviewed best.
Made a list of the top ones.
I thought that whichever of the top rated clinics I go to there should be little difference in the outcome probability. It’s just in the chance/luck of the operation if you have any problems.
Accuvision was in walking distance so I thought that’s good enough for me!
I walked into the Fulham branch on a Friday late November 2002.
Had my initial consultation and was found to be suitable -5 or -6 in both eyes (Don’t remember exactly).
Made an appointment for next the available space – Monday.
Walk to the Accuvision on Monday.
Had operation.
Waited about 30 min for eyes to settle.
Left, and hailed a Taxi to drive me the 5 mins home.
Vision little foggy and unclear for a couple of days.
By about 1 week vision was excellent.
On return to clinic found vision was 20/20 in one eye and one line better than 20/20 in the other.
Very happy. Almost a year later not a single problem and have forgotten that I was ever short sighted at all!
When having lasik you roll a die and take a chance as to the outcome. The chances are small that anything will go wrong but it can always happen.
I rolled my dice and ended up with better than 20/20.
Accuvision was excellent and everything workout great for me

I decided to get my eyes done about a year ago and looked into various eye clinics and after doing a bit of research was a bit dismayed that most eye clinics only treat hyperopia (long sight) up to around +3 dioptres. I have or did have a high prescription, my right eye was +6.00 with astigmatism of +1.75, and the left eye was +6.50 with astigmatism of +1.75. However I saw the advert in the paper for accuvision and how they can treat patients with high prescriptions with wavefront guided lasik. I phoned up for a booklet and let it at that.

Fast forward to the beginning of June and having two weeks off I decided to see if I was compatible in having the surgery. I phoned up for a consultation and went down the following week on the 11th of June. The consultation was roughly an hour long with Vikash, it was found that I did indeed had a high level of long sight, the thickness of the cornea and the dilation of the pupil was measured, as well as the overall health of the eye. The consultation was very professional and what struck me, was while Vikash pointed out that Accuvision could treat my eyes because they had the technology, what was also pointed out was the fact that this is surgery and things (although extremely rarely) can go wrong. The cornea could get infected amongst other things, and because of my prescription there was only a 10% chance of achieving 20/20 vision. On hearing this my thoughts were how professional Accuvision were in telling you the risks that can happen as well as the benefits and were not just after your money. I concluded in my mind that indeed I had chosen the right clinic. I was compatible to my delight, the cost would be £3600 and I was left to think it over.

I had thought about the surgery all weekend and decided that I would get it done. I phoned up on Monday the 16th June and it turned out that there was a slot available that afternoon. I got down to the clinic signed the confirmation form and had it done. I was a bit nervous at first, but during the operation I started to relax it didn’t hurt and the only real discomfort was at the start when I had the eye drops put in. Yes it is true! parts of your cornea being vaporised does smell a bit but it is not as bad as made out, I think!

Coming out of the operation I was groggy and sat down for roughly ½ hour at the end of which my first lot of eye drops were administered, and Vikash explained that they were to be taken every hour for at least 6 hours and the eyes were to be kept closed for as much time as possible.

I woke up the next morning and I could see everything, a friend of mine had sent me a text asking how it had gone and I was more than pleased to be able to see the letters on my phone to text them back, as well as reading the paper without the need of glasses. That afternoon I went back to Accuvision for my 1 day post op check-up and I was 20/20 overall being 20/20 in my right eye and 20/30 in my left, with both eyes healing nicely. I was more than pleased. Vikash took the contact lenses out that you wear for the first night that help the healing process and said that my eyes may fluctuate and gave me some more drops to put over the coming days leading to my 1 week post op check-up.

I wake up the next morning and am dismayed that my eyes had fluctuated quite badly, I take a walk into town to go to the bank to get the bankers draft to pay Accuvision and wonder if it is worth paying them!! I can read a number plate of a car from only 8 paces. However I have to remind myself that it was said that my eyes might fluctuate and I did have a high prescription (I did send the cheque to them though!).

Accuvision were right in the days leading up to my 1 week post op check my eyes had strengthen I could now read a number plate from 57 paces. I get down to the clinic in the afternoon and my eyes are still 20/20 with my right eye being 20/20 and my left being 20/40. I make an appointment for my 1 month post op check.

I go down to Accuvision for my 1 month post op check with Vikash my sight overall is still 20/20 my right eye being 20/15! And my left eye being 20/30 -2 (reading some of the letters on the 20/30 line bar two of them) with a slight astigmatism. The eyes have healed nicely. I and Vikash discuss it and we come to the conclusion that I am very happy my sight overall being 20/20 and although the left eye is not as strong as the right is not viable to perform surgery on the left eye with the left eye as it is. I make an appointment for my 3 month post op check and it on the 31st of October.

I am now at 10 weeks post op writing this. I have had no complications and am glad that I had the surgery done. To those with a high prescription and/or are afraid of having surgery go and have a consultation you never know. I thought I would be wearing glasses for the rest of my life now thankfully I don’t, and I have Accuvision to thank for that. If any of you who are reading this and have a high prescription like mine or you are a bit nervous and have any questions feel free to e-mail me at leetaylor55@hotmail.com.

All the best, Lee.

Have been investigating laser surgery for 7 years including unsuccessful consultations with Optimax and Ultralase. Sick of contact lenses and specs. I hate feeling dependent on solutions and stuff. I regularly travel abroad and hate the hassle of packing them…always in the hand luggage along with specs in case the luggae doesn’t make it.

Heard about Accuvision 2 years ago, but when I called they sounded in their infancy so I left it.

Went last Wednesday for test as a birthday present to me for my 40th (in July). Delighted to learn that I could be treated and immediately asked for the operation that same day. The next slot was the next day. The team at Accuvision are very professional and I detected they are passionate about their job, which gives them the edge. Worth the money that I paid. In fact 20 years ago I remember putting a value of £10,000 on the price I would pay to restore my eyesight without artificial aids!!

For me the anticipation around the surgery was perhaps the worst. Around 5 mins on the bed awaiting preparation. I was very aware of the ‘flap bit’ and although I saw no blade I had a distinct sensation as it was cut, a kind of stinging. For me (being a bit of a woose) my own cruel mind games were the worst, my brain playing out the whole scenario over and over during and after surgery. The truth is there is no way they would have done the other eye if I really felt anything! The discomfort was on the same scale as having a filling in reality. Hypnosis might be an idea, but then it is really only 4 mins per eye!

A few minutes later and I was in the waiting room. The rest of the day I rested at home with a slight gritty feeling in both eyes. Next day eyes were fine. Eyesight not quite as crisp as it was with contact lenses, but better than it was with specs.

Next week I have my 1 week post tests and I am expecting some further improvement based on previous reports.Today my sight didn’t feel quite as crisp…but maybe this is tiredness after a hectic weekend?

Before op -6.5 in both eye. 1 day After op 0.00 and -0.5.

By the way I offloaded something like 6 bottles of contact lenses, 3 cases, saline and all sorts. Its a great unburdening to do that on the same day as the op!

If you want your real eyes back then go see Accuvision!

I had surgery on Monday 19th May. Accuvision were very good – the surgery was not painful – the eye clamp was a bit uncomfortable but that was all – it just felt a bit odd. Most importantly for me is that you can’t really see anything happening – so many drops are put in your eyes that everything in blurred anyway. I had no pain afterwards and my eyes didn’t stream at all.

I am pleased with the results, although a ‘little’ disappointed as my eyes are not as good as they were with my contact lenses – I have 20/20 vision with both eyes but slightly less than 20/20 individually – I must have had better than 20/20 with my contact lenses but didn’t realise it. Apparently, it could still improve – time will tell.

I would highly recommend Accuvision – the consultation was very thorough and the aftercare has been fab.

Accuvision – Parsons Green

Surgeon – Mr William Ayliffe

Surgery – April 2002

I had my surgery just under one year ago and have just been back for my first year check up. My prescription has remained stable over the course of the year with only the tiniest deterioration in the right eye. This is so small I hadn’t even noticed.

After the first year of being rid of glasses and contact lenses I can only thank all the team at Accuvision for their support and understanding of my concerns. All aspects of my life are now back to as they were in my early twenties before my sight deteriorated (and of course my fitness!). Sport, driving and daily activities are infinitely easier. I am sure I am not the only person who doesn’t miss waking up after a night out with a pair of contact lenses glued to my eyelids!

Particular thanks must go to Daryus who inspired such confidence that when I had the surgery I was not in the least concerned that it may have complications. I can only say my trust in his and his teams professional approach was fully justified, I could not be happier or more pleased with the outcome – thank you to you all.
