well this is a year & half update for +6 & +6.5 with big astigmatisms.
It was scary, it was expensive & my eye sight still fluctuates (i have one bad day per three weeks where i would not drive if i knew how to).
I've been to an indpendant optisions who said i had over 2020 vision & slight astigmatisms & when the looked at my last prescription nearly fell of the seat in amazement & now recomments it to customers who ask as my eyes are so healthy & vision so good.
I would do it again, i am always recommending it to people & have so many friends who had it done i wonder if i could get some money back...?
please feel free to contact me for specifics i have posted before & am always happy to talk about my experiences.

My story is fairly simple;
About November 2002 I read all the websites and found the clinics that were reviewed best.
Made a list of the top ones.
I thought that whichever of the top rated clinics I go to there should be little difference in the outcome probability. It’s just in the chance/luck of the operation if you have any problems.
Accuvision was in walking distance so I thought that’s good enough for me!
I walked into the Fulham branch on a Friday late November 2002.
Had my initial consultation and was found to be suitable -5 or -6 in both eyes (Don’t remember exactly).
Made an appointment for next the available space - Monday.
Walk to the Accuvision on Monday.
Had operation.
Waited about 30 min for eyes to settle.
Left, and hailed a Taxi to drive me the 5 mins home.
Vision little foggy and unclear for a couple of days.
By about 1 week vision was excellent.
On return to clinic found vision was 20/20 in one eye and one line better than 20/20 in the other.
Very happy. Almost a year later not a single problem and have forgotten that I was ever short sighted at all!
When having lasik you roll a die and take a chance as to the outcome. The chances are small that anything will go wrong but it can always happen.
I rolled my dice and ended up with better than 20/20.
Accuvision was excellent and everything workout great for me

I decided to get my eyes done about a year ago and looked into various eye clinics and after doing a bit of research was a bit dismayed that most eye clinics only treat hyperopia (long sight) up to around +3 dioptres. I have or did have a high prescription, my right eye was +6.00 with astigmatism of +1.75, and the left eye was +6.50 with astigmatism of +1.75. However I saw the advert in the paper for accuvision and how they can treat patients with high prescriptions with wavefront guided lasik. I phoned up for a booklet and let it at that.
Fast forward to the beginning of June and having two weeks off I decided to see if I was compatible in having the surgery. I phoned up for a consultation and went down the following week on the 11th of June. The consultation was roughly an hour long with Vikash, it was found that I did indeed had a high level of long sight, the thickness of the cornea and the dilation of the pupil was measured, as well as the overall health of the eye. The consultation was very professional and what struck me, was while Vikash pointed out that Accuvision could treat my eyes because they had the technology, what was also pointed out was the fact that this is surgery and things (although extremely rarely) can go wrong. The cornea could get infected amongst other things, and because of my prescription there was only a 10% chance of achieving 20/20 vision. On hearing this my thoughts were how professional Accuvision were in telling you the risks that can happen as well as the benefits and were not just after your money. I concluded in my mind that indeed I had chosen the right clinic. I was compatible to my delight, the cost would be £3600 and I was left to think it over.
I had thought about the surgery all weekend and decided that I would get it done. I phoned up on Monday the 16th June and it turned out that there was a slot available that afternoon. I got down to the clinic signed the confirmation form and had it done. I was a bit nervous at first, but during the operation I started to relax it didn’t hurt and the only real discomfort was at the start when I had the eye drops put in. Yes it is true! parts of your cornea being vaporised does smell a bit but it is not as bad as made out, I think!
Coming out of the operation I was groggy and sat down for roughly ½ hour at the end of which my first lot of eye drops were administered, and Vikash explained that they were to be taken every hour for at least 6 hours and the eyes were to be kept closed for as much time as possible.
I woke up the next morning and I could see everything, a friend of mine had sent me a text asking how it had gone and I was more than pleased to be able to see the letters on my phone to text them back, as well as reading the paper without the need of glasses. That afternoon I went back to Accuvision for my 1 day post op check-up and I was 20/20 overall being 20/20 in my right eye and 20/30 in my left, with both eyes healing nicely. I was more than pleased. Vikash took the contact lenses out that you wear for the first night that help the healing process and said that my eyes may fluctuate and gave me some more drops to put over the coming days leading to my 1 week post op check-up.
I wake up the next morning and am dismayed that my eyes had fluctuated quite badly, I take a walk into town to go to the bank to get the bankers draft to pay Accuvision and wonder if it is worth paying them!! I can read a number plate of a car from only 8 paces. However I have to remind myself that it was said that my eyes might fluctuate and I did have a high prescription (I did send the cheque to them though!).
Accuvision were right in the days leading up to my 1 week post op check my eyes had strengthen I could now read a number plate from 57 paces. I get down to the clinic in the afternoon and my eyes are still 20/20 with my right eye being 20/20 and my left being 20/40. I make an appointment for my 1 month post op check.
I go down to Accuvision for my 1 month post op check with Vikash my sight overall is still 20/20 my right eye being 20/15! And my left eye being 20/30 -2 (reading some of the letters on the 20/30 line bar two of them) with a slight astigmatism. The eyes have healed nicely. I and Vikash discuss it and we come to the conclusion that I am very happy my sight overall being 20/20 and although the left eye is not as strong as the right is not viable to perform surgery on the left eye with the left eye as it is. I make an appointment for my 3 month post op check and it on the 31st of October.
I am now at 10 weeks post op writing this. I have had no complications and am glad that I had the surgery done. To those with a high prescription and/or are afraid of having surgery go and have a consultation you never know. I thought I would be wearing glasses for the rest of my life now thankfully I don’t, and I have Accuvision to thank for that. If any of you who are reading this and have a high prescription like mine or you are a bit nervous and have any questions feel free to e-mail me at leetaylor55@hotmail.com.
All the best, Lee.

I had my surgery on 3rd of July which was excellent and definitely not worth worrying about for as long as I did. I was -3.75 in both eyes, which became 20/20 in my right eye and just under in my left after only 7 days. Everything about your eyes continuing to heal is true, as mine feel better (albeit slightly - don't expect massive change on a daily basis) every day. The best thing is the fact that the op really is painless. The only thing I felt would be best described as mild discomfort when the clamps were put on my eyes. The actual surgical stuff (cutting, laser etc) was absolutely painless. having a filling is 100 times as painful..easily. I recommend Accuvision to everyone because they are excellent. Everyone from Vik who did my initial consultation to Darius (who is excellent at making you feel relaxed, especially when you are lying on the laser bed worrying to yourself). Thanks also to Mike who reassured me brilliantly on the phone as well as immediately post op, and to Joan for further excellent post op care and 1 week check up. I am about to book my next check up (1 month) so I post again with any relevant changes.
Basically Accuvision are as good as you are going to get. Read about every clinic on this website, then see the cases that Accuvision treat that others don't.
Yes, I would do it again, and yes Accuvision were brilliant for me.

Just a quick update. I had my eyes done early December 02. After going back for my 6 month check last week, i cannot stress enough how good the staff are. They still remembered me and the problems i experienced and were concerned for me still.
(I would like to just clarify that the problem was servere bruising to my eyes, but that it is completley gone & there are no negative effects from this). You only have one pair of eyes - trust them to Accuvision...
