Review by John Herbert - Posted on 25/06/2006 - Rating:5/5
I never intended to have my eyes treated until I saw the results of my partner. She was absolutely over the moon and could read the sign across the road better than I could with my glasses. So I took the plunge, and believe me that was quite a dive considering I've been a baby about my eyes all my life. The actual treatment took about ten minutes and I never felt a thing! And would you believe I've now got 20/20 vision - without my glasses!!
OK I still need glasses to read but at £7 a pair, it's a slight difference to the normal varifocals that I used to have to buy at £300 plus.
Don't even think about it - book up Accuvision NOW!!!

Review by Jinny - Posted on 20/06/2006 - Rating:5/5
Hi my name is Jinny
and I had my eyes done at accuvision 24th April..........I was + 3.00 left with astigmatism and +2.5 right................I am very pleased with my eyes. My 2 sisters who are older then my (I am 50) had an even higher plus script and they are also really pleased with their eyes. I hope this helps you.

Anyway the consultation is free and the best eye health check you can get. I was told by Mr Halliday that my scans show that behind my eyes are very narrow and this is an indication that along with my long sightedness I could develop glaucoma at some point. So now they have this info they will keep an extra check on me from now on. So not only have I got great vision now I know that my future vision is in very safe hands.........Email me if you want to kind regards Jinny.

Ok, lets try again...... All done now and absoluteley amazing, had the surgery last Tuesday, and can not beleive how painless it was, ok a little unpleasant but nothing to worry about at all, for a couple of days before all sorts of thing were going though my mind, I actually thought about cancelling and going back to contact lenses, thank god I didnt.

On the day I was shaking from head to toe and all the staff were so fantastic in reassuring me, they said that they love to see people like me because I was -7.00 in both eyes, the results are so amazingly different. The surgery from start to finish took about 8 minutes, and I could see better after than before.

I went home that night and sat with my eyes closed for the evening (although I kept peeking), my husband said its like having a porsche sat on the drive but not being able to drive it!, football was on tv and I kept peeking, it was amazing I could see the names on the shirts.

Well now perfect, almost 20:20 on next days check up and going back again on Wednesday, but for anyone in two minds just go for it, it is absolutely fantastic, I just keep chuckling to myself, people think i'm mad.

Thanks very much to all the staff at Accuvision, they have changed my life so much, they asked me to trust them with my eyes, and I am so glad I did, words cannot possible explain how greatful I am.

I initially visited Accuvision approximately 8 weeks ago, and booked my surgery for 13th June, my prescription was -7.00 in both eyes, on Monday night all sorts of things were going through my mind and at several points I actually thought I was going to cancel and go back to contact lenses, god what a mistake that would have been. I arrived at the Solihull branch at 3pm and was totally shaking from head to foot, I could not keep still, firstly I went in and had another couple of checks done, and I let the chap know that I was petrified, I seemed so much more so than anyone else there, anyway fifteen minutes later it was my turn, I almost got up and ran out of the room. I went into the room and saw this huge contraption and thought, come on girl this will be over stortly, and it was, fifteen minutes later I was back in the waiting room with my eyes closed. The surgeon came out and said come on Sarah open your eyes, and I just burst in to tears I could already see. Now day three, sight perfect, health of eyes seems perfect, no soreness, no irritation, I just cannot beleive it, absoluteley amazing, anyone not sure - just go for it. Finally a massive thank you to Accuvision, what fantastic, amazing people, I owe them so much, I would have paid £20,000 for the feeling I have at the moment.

I STRONGLY recommend this clinic.

I had -1.75 sphere on both eyes, plus 2 and 2.75 cylinder left and right respectively. 16 hrs after surgery I could see 21/20.

The operation was 5 mins long and very interesting to "watch". I could actually see clearly straight after, but was asked to keep my eyes closed for 30min for obvious reasons (the eagerness was strong, I tell you:-). I used the drops as instructed. Minor itching. I was actually a bit negligent in the immediate post-op because I went shopping and staid up late. The morning after, they took the contacts off. Now, 3 days after, my eyes feel and see absolutely perfect. I'm even tempted to stop using the drops altogether.

I think it's important to go for the best surgeon and trust him/her with everything else. Those of Accuvision have A LOT (Dr Rostron has a 25 pages CV!) of VERY RELEVANT and FIRST GRADE Experience.

Accuvision's Allegretto Eye-Q 400's are very recent and advanced german technology. Note that Germany is home to companies like Zeiss (the best lenses), Leika (the best cameras), Leo Electron Microscopy (very advanced electron microscopes). Competitors of Accuvision were very vocal with me about their Visx S4's because they know a lot has been publicized about them out there. It's only because they are American and they have a strong market penetration there. But the situation has been changing rapidly since the Eye-Q 400 was FDA-approved in 2003 and a big part of the new machines sold there since 2003 are Eye-Q's. A clinic with weak surgeons will certainly try to sell how great and popular their Visx is.

I am 22 years old and had Leukemia when I was 7 years old, this was treated with a bone marrow transplant. I have had problems with the new bone marrow fighting against my body giving me various problems like Rheumatoid Arthritis and cataracts. The cataracts was removed when I was 8 years old but needed to wear glasses.
After looking on the internet I found a place in Bristol called Ultralase so I decided to book my self in for a free consultation. So I went all the way up to Bristol from Cornwall for my free consultation but when I got there I was told that they would not do the treatment because I had Rheumatoid Arthritis and was sent home very disappointed but I was not going to give up so I got on the internet again and found Accuvision in London so I booked up for a consultation and traveled up to London when as soon as I stepped in the door I felt at home, all the staff where kind and caring. I had my consultation and was told they would do the treatment (I couldn’t believe my dream come true).
After I had the laser treatment my eyes felt like I had grit in them and my sight was blurry for the first few day but each day that went bye my eyesight just got better and better. Now I am a month past my treatment I feel my eyesight is better now then what it was like wearing glasses.
Thank you to all the staff at Accuvision for treating me so kindly and making my dream come true.

It's been nearly a month since I had my treatment and I'm so pleased with the results. Accuvision were fantastic throughout the process and I simply cannot fault the service I've received.
Although the surgery was completely painless and the staff were very calming, I nevertheless felt pretty freaked out when I lay on the table and the procedure begun. However, after the first eye was underway & I realised that it really wasn't scary at all, I was much more relaxed - just lay back and enjoyed the "light show". My vision was excellent when I came out of surgery and I really wanted to look around rather than keeping my eyes closed and rested. My eyes were a little uncomfortable (slightly "gritty") for the first two days - but I found resting them helped a lot & was a great excuse to listen to books on tape all weekend. I then had pretty dry eyes for about a week afterwards which were relieved by artificial tears. Overall, it was well worth a little discomfort and I'm now amazed each day at how great my vision is. I no longer need eye drops and my concerns about my night vision becoming poorer are completely unwarranted. I've already recommended Accuvision to two of my colleagues (one who has already had her eyes done there now) and would recommend it to anyone considering laser eye surgery.

What can I say: fabulous staff, fabulous service and now fabulous eye sight!!! I got 'zapped' 4 days ago and it's just amazing. The procedure itself is painless and so quick. The only irritation I found was on the first night due to the protective contact lenses they put in, but these were removed at the 1 day check up. Since then - brilliant!! I would highly recommend Accuvision. They were so efficient and professional, yet super friendly.

I'd worn glasses since I was 4, and was long sighted with a very uneven prescription. Knowing that lasik had historically been used for short sighted people, I was pleasantly surprised to be told that I was suitable.

I was zapped in September 2005, and to my way of thinking a trip to the dentist is far more unpleasant. The procedure is slightly surreal, but quick and painless.

Having been long sighted I was told that it would take some time for everything to settle down, and it did. I am now delighted with my 20:20 vision, albeit my left eye is still slightly dominant, and I do get the odd day where computer text can be slightly blurry round the edges. I now work without glasses, and eyestrain which was a real bugbear for me is pretty much a thing of the past.

The staff at Accuvision were fantastic both before and after the operation. You do not meet the surgeon until the day of the surgey, which some may find a little odd, but didn't cause me a problem.

On the proviso that you are realistic about yuour expectations, go for it. Was it £2K well spent? Definitely.

I had my eyes done 7hrs ago, and already i can see well enough to drive. Before the surgery i was so nervous but when i laid on the table all my worries seemed to disappear, it wasn't uncomfortable until about an hour after surgery then it was like getting shampoo in your eyes for about half an hour, now the only thing that feels a little uncomfortable is the contact lenses they put in to protect your eyes. Would recommend it to anyone, and Accuvision are brilliant, Thank you.

I had my surgery carried out on the 23rd May. I decided to have my consultation and both eyes done at the same time which resulted in a discount of £300. My eyesight was previously very poor as my prescription was almost 10. I am extremely happy with the wavefront lasik surgery I had as I now have 20/20 vision and only need 1.5 lenses for reading. The treatment was absolutely painless and I had no after effects whatsoever. My vision was a little blurry immiediatley afterwards, but soon improved to the extent I was able to drive to my local supermarket in less than 6 hours after the surgery. I am really glad I took the decision to have laser surgery and highly recommend Accuvision.

5 weeks now and I cant remember what it was like not to be able to see. I have been to Dorset for a week and seeing all the wild flowers in detail is just fantastic. Also I went swimming, I did wear goggles as I was worried about irritating my eyes and everything was fine. My night vision is better now than it was when I had glasses so thats another plus for me.

If you are reading this you must be thinking about having this treatment. It is one week since I had double wavefront in Solihull and so-far so-fantastic. I was really anxious about the process but my desire to chuck away my specs was just strong enough to see me through. The actual operation bit was a doddle - in fact watching the kalidascopic light show was quite interesting. My op was in the afternoon and I had no lunch - unfortunately I nearly passed out after the first eye so the team quickly rallied round, gave me a while to recover (and a Mars bar) and slotted me back in to do my other eye about 3/4 hr later. On the second day after having the contact lenses out I was really disappointed because although my vision was improved it was nowhere near 20-20 and I thought it hadn't worked. After my first good nights sleep it got clearer and clearer and today Nick observed that my vision is better than 20-20 and will probably get a little better over the next few weeks. Anyway - the habits I can now drop are: reaching for my specs when I get out of bed, taking off my specs to put up/take off a jumper, panic when toddlers get near my face. And finally I can wear cheap shades! Go for it!

WOW - can't believe how different life is. Loved travelling on the tube the day after and being able to read the map on the opposite side without having to push up my glasses! Go for it if your thinking about it - wish I'd done it sooner!!

After having my surgery at Accuvision on 25th April thought it was about time I posted a note on how I am getting on.

After wearing glasses since aged 6 and full-time since age 19 (apart from few years with contacts) it is wonderful not to reach for my specs in the morning. I am very very happy with my "new eyes".

I went to 3 consultatations - Ultralase, Accuvison and Optical Express. I also liked being seen by one person (Joan) who was very informative and answered all my many questions that day and the days leading up to surgery. I rang her a number of times before coming to my decision and the all round experience made me choose Accuvision.

As I am 46 I knew that I would still need reading glasses after surgery which I was quite happy with and Joan confirmed this.

I was extremely nervous of the procedure but Brett Halliday and his team were great and it was all over very quickly. I could see wonderfully straight away and it was hard to keep my eyes closed on the journey home as I could see so well!! I did have a couple of sore days due to a slight allergic reaction to the tear drops given to me the next day but this was soon sorted. Had a check up last Friday and my left eye was 20/20 (in fact I could read the bottom line so I think it was even better). My right eye which was - 4.25 was - 0.25. This eye is a little lazy (and even with my glasses it wasn't great and they told me before surgery that this eye would only be as good as it was with my glasses). This is the reason I didn't go for mono vision. Joan explained this all to me and we decided the best option for me would be to go for best distance. It is still very early days -both eyes are healing really well and they told me my right eye will hopefully get a little better.
It is quite normal for vision to fluctuate at this time.

I have another check up at the end of June and will update my comments then.

Anyway just wanted to say thank you to my new "laser" friends whose advice and support in the past few weeks have been invaluable and, of course, thank you to the Accuvision team for making it all possible. I am very pleased that I decided to have my surgery at Accuvision.

I have spent many years considering having laser eye surgery. I had been to consultations with other companies and was still not comfortable with the process. When I attended the Solihull branch I felt reassured and understood the procedure. The staff showed me the room were the procedure would take place. I felt comfortable and booked the procedure straight away. On the morning of the procedure I was feeling apprehensive and a little scared. The procedure was slightly strange and uncomfortable but by no means painful. As soon as I walked out of the room the procedure took place in I could see. It was a little hazy, as if the room was filled with smoke. When I got home I noticed one of my eyes was quite blood shot. I made enquiries with staff on the phone number who were very helpful and reassured me this was normal and would go within 10 days. I was back at work within two days and the blood shot eye went back to normal. It is the best thing I have ever had done. I am frustrated with myself for being scared for so long and not having it done.

Thought I'd report back my experiences in the early post op stage then report back more later. Following far too much research I booked a consultation with Accuvision, Moorfields and London Vision Clinic. Accuvision were by far the cheapest of the 3 options but I was lucky enough to not have money play any part in my decision. Although all three clinics were fine, I chose Accuvision for several reasons. 1. I liked the fact that all of my tests were done by the same person(Vikash - all round nice bloke). 2. They were very straight about what to expect with no hard sell at all. 3. I spoke to a random selection of Accuvision patients all of whom spoke very highly of their experience.
I had the op on Monday. My surgeon was Chad Rostron. He had a very pleasant and relaxed manner and kept me fully informed of what was happening. The whole experience was so quick that you barely have time to say thank you (for changing my life!)

Yesterday I walked into work(along the sea front) and was astounded at the clarity of vision I had. I then worked with a computer for half of the day and had very good near vision as well. Today my vision is less good, so maybe I overdid it yesterday. I was also warned that the vision will fluctuate during the healing process. I'll report back more in a few weeks.

Well its been 10 days since I had my eyes corrected, and I have to say the thing I found the strangest of all in the first 3 days was the fact that I went from being long sighted to being short sighted. But that is normal with long sighted people so it gave no cause for alarm. Today I had a check up and I am please to say I have 20/20 in my right eye and 20/15 in my left. My vision is very clear in the daytime. My night vision is still poor and I am not yet driving at night, but Vik assured me that this will improve over the next few weeks. (as I was already night blind any improvement will be great). My flaps are compleatly sealed and my eyes are looking brilliant on the scans. So its all looking good and that makes me one very happy bunny

I found in Accuvision the confidence I needed to go ahead with this operation. I desperately wanted this surgery but wouldn't have gone ahead with it if I wasn't 100% confident with them.
I had been looking into this procedure for about a year and had been to 2 other clinics. One of which was extortionately expensive and out of my budget and one of whom wanted to give me "lasek" . As "lasek" is usually associated with thin cornias and has a slower healing time and can regress whilst healing I was advised by an independent surgeon not to have this and that I did not need this.
Accuvison were the only people who discussed with me my longterm vision with regard to my near sight and adjusted my lasik surgery accordingly. This was something that I had already discussed with my own optician but which neither of the other two clinics I visited had addressed.
I cannot praise highly enough the professionalism of the Optometrists and the staff at Accuvison. I was given the CV of the surgeon who would perform the operation and this only made me feel more confident in my choice. The procedure itself was absolutely painless. I did wear sunglasses for the first day to help with the day light brightness but was OK following this. I did have some fluctuation in my vision during healing (about 5 weeks) but now have 20/15 vision better that 20/20. I am really delighted and hope that if you are reading this you will also make Accuvision your choice.

I had my surgery done on Monday 24th April and I am thrilled with the results and with Accuvision. I had originally been for a consultation back in June 2005 however due to a 'bruise' at the back of my eye I had to get this checked out and sorted out before I was allowed to go ahead with surgery, however due to time lapsing and going backwards and forwards to Moorfileds to get this sorted, I decided to put laser eye surgery on the back burner.
March 2006 I got the bee in my bonnet again about having the surgery, and so after being initally impressed with Accuvision for my first consult, I decided to return to them.
Once again I was met with friendly and professional staff, who I immediately felt relaxed with. They checked my eyes again, and of course the for the 'bruise' (which had now completely gone) and dicussed any queries I had. I was impressed with the profesional manner in which they dealt with me and not once did they make me feel obliged to take up the surgery with them.

On the actual day of surgery I was petrified, I felt sick in the morning of basically the 'unkown', the not knowing what I will experience, through my eyes, on the day. The staff on the day were excellent. I was seen immediately and there was no hanging around. I met the surgeon and was taken to the surgery room. Mr Brett halliday and his staff were excellent. I felt nervous, however they kept me calm, they talked to me all the way through the procedure, explainng what was occurring and what to expect. This really helped.
The surgery itself was unconfortable and definitely daunting however, nothing to worry about. Your eyes are numb, held securley and you are in very very good hands! Immediately afterwards I felt overwhelmed as I could not belive my sight!!!
It is now four days after my surgery and my eyse are great - they are still slightly adjusting however the results are amazing, even at this early stage!
I chose Accuvision due to the reviews I read, the experience I had on consultation, the staff and overall research! I am so pleased I went with them.

I meant to post my comments after a week/month/six months but am just getting round to it 16 months after I had my op at Accuvision. I am totally satisfied with all aspects of Accuvision's service and the results. My prescription before the op was -9.5/-10!!! and I now have 20:20 vision. I am 45 and had worn hard contact lenses and then gas permeable lenses since I was 14. After 30 years of assisted sight it is fantastic to need no glasses or lenses. I had an initial problem with dryness for 6-8 weeks post op and used a gel supplied by Accuvision rather than drops. Now I don't use anything. I work on a computer, drive, go on long plane journeys and have no problem. Far from regressing my eyesight has improved since I had my check at 6 months.(I didn't have my final check until last week). Accuvision tell me (which I knew from before the op) that my eyes will probably become longsighted due to old age but that as regards my short sight I am like a "normal" sighted person. Incidentally I have no particular problems with night glare (which I was concerned about) In fact I know have less glare than I did with my lenses.
I also have a friend (who recommended ccuvision) who had the op 6 months before me. She started at -6 (with relatively thin corneas) but is now 20:20 and is very happy.

I was sad to see the poor rating below because the perfect 5 rating was one of the things that helped me choose Accuvision.

My husband and I had the surgery done over 2 weeks ago and we can't fault Accuvision on anything. We both have better than 20/20 vision and found the whole experience to be very positive. I was also very impressed with the prices that Accuvision charge as the service is excellent and you don't feel like you are picking the "cheap" option, just rather not being overcharged. They are able to offer better pricing because their laser is less expensive to purchase and maintain. We had seen Mr Pillai too (Advanced Vision Care) who was also excellent, but far pricier. I was not convinced that I would be left with vastly different results so opted for Accuvision.

The surgery itself was not at all painful for either of us, leaving rather a slightly gritty, tired feeling in both eyes. We rested for 6 hrs after the surgery (we had downloaded Ricky Gervais pod casts before hand - highly recommended!) and then took the following day off work.

Our sight was initially clear but hazy and when we woke up the next day it was much clearer. Over the next week I continued to be impressed even though it fluctuated a little as it healed. Putting in drops every hour became a way of life! We were back working on our laptops from home the day following our day off with no problems. Eye just got tired towards the end of the day.

Now two weeks after and we are so happy that we did this. I don't miss my contacts at all and after almost 20 years of them it felt great to throw them out! We are off travelling for a year in July and this is what made us take the jump into surgery. I now wish we'd been a bit braver before.

I can't recommend Accuvision highly enough.

Had the treatment this week. I was -6.5 beforehand. Pretty pleased with the outcome at this stage and my vision is still improving. Brett Halliday was the surgeon and the whole staff were very efficient and professional - as you should expect. The actual procedure was a bit uncomfortable but certainly not painful. Once the anaesthetic wore off my eyes felt very sore for about two hours, but that quite quickly wore off.

I had this procedure done on the 24th April 2006, and it is the best thing that I have ever done.
For someone who has been wearing glasses for years, and could not see anything when I got up in the morning without the help of them, this treatment has been heaven sent. For me to be able to get up in the mornings and move around without looking for my glasses this is a miracle and I only had it done a few days ago.
The treatment it self was painless and after wards I only had a "gritty" feeling in my eyes which was bearable. All the staff and surgeons were fantastic and they kept me informed of what was going on and what was about to happen, both before and during the procedure.
I am very happy both with the service I recived at Accuvision, the staff and the results. I would recommend this treatment to anyone who is thinking of having it.
Thank you to all the Accuvision staff.

Had my surgery scheduled for 24th April and I must admit I was extremely anxious. But reading the reviews on this site made me feel better. The icing on the cake for me was getting in touch with so many lovely people some of whom have had surgery, and some like myself who were anxious. So as you can imagine when I read the review by "unhappy" I was now totally confused. I sat down and wrote out a list of questions for Mr Halliday that I would put to him, I would then decide whether or not to go ahead. I went along with the attitude that If I offended him by my questions then I would have considered that very unprofessional . Mr Halliday was not fazed by my questions (more like an interrogation really) he answered with clarity and I felt very confident that I had a Snr consultant surgeon and a fanatic support team on my side. So I had the surgery done and I was totally amazed at how quick and painless it was. I had no pain after, and only very slight stinging sensation. The bit I found the hardest was keeping my eyes closed for so long. I would recommend anyone planning to have this done go to the library and take out some audio books to keep yourself entertained.

My advise to anyone that has been thinking about having laser surgery at Accuvision and is now somewhat put off owing to the negative comments made , please do your self a favour go and have a Free consultation and list all your concerns on paper and don't be frightened to ask your questions. These Guys are professional. I am glad that I asked

From start to finish the staff were excellent and I was very pleased to be in the hands of Mr Brett Halliday(surgeon) as he made me very comfortable and talked me through the whole procedure as it was occurring. The procedure itself took about 4 minutes per eye, and I could not believe how quickly it all went. I cant thank Accuvision enough, they have been very supportive, friendly and professional through out and I have no hesitations in recommending them!

After spending many years thinking about laser eye surgery and researching it on the net I was finally persuaded by my aunty (an optometrist) to at least have a consultation. I choose accuvision on the basis of their exceptional results and feedback; and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. So fast and virtually painless (apart from being a bit teary the first day), the most difficult parts were forcing myself to keep my eyes shut for the first few hours (i wanted to try out my fab new vision!) and wearing the eye shields the first night - which had my boyfriend in hysterics! Previously I had a relatively straightforward -2.75 in each eye, and no astigmatism; one day after surgery I was 20/20 in each eye. Amazing. The staff were all great too- they instilled me with great confidence and calmed my nerves. I can honestly say I would rather get my eyes lasered than go to the dentist- so if you are considering it - go for it!

I had my surgery last summer in the London clinic. It was a painless procedure that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. The quality of aftercare was exceptional. I am delighted with my new vision. I travelled from the furthest regions of North Wales to London for the treatment as a colleague recommended the clinic to me. It was all thoroughly worthwhile. My husband will be making an appointment for laser treatment in the same clinic in the very near future as he is so impressed at my results.

I had laser surgery at the AccuVision clinic in Fulham on monday. I am posting this message as a very delighted patient. All the staff from the bird at the reception to the optometrist and the surgeon were absolutely fantastic. I am still getting to terms with the fact that I wont need glasses ever again. It's no surprise to me that AccuVision have a 100% positive rating on this site. The actual surgery only lasted about 8 minutes (that's 4 minutes per eye). The weird thing is it doesn't hurt. The whole thing was painless. I felt a massive difference to my sight as soon as the surgery was over. When I left the clinic (ie about 30 minutes after surgery), I could read car number plates, road signs, the departure board at the train station! This amazing experience will stay with me for the rest of my life. I'll definitely recommend AccuVision to anyone considering laser treatment.

I have worn glasses since I was three years old. I was severely long sighted and no clinic was able to offer me treatment as my prescription was considered to be to high (+6.75 and +5.00) Then I heard about accuvision and travelled from the lake district to london for a consultation. The service I received was fantastic and they were very honest about what I could expect due to having such a severe prescription. I decided to go ahead and I had the surgery done in monday. I was very nervous but the staff were fantastic and explained everything clearly and said I would feel no pain though it would be a little uncomfortable. Did it hurt? Absolutely not, it was the most amazing ten minute light show ever. First they clamp your eye which did not hurt at all then they get to work and ten minutes later its done. No pain at all during or after the procedure. I came out of the surgery and my son was in the waiting room and I had to sit with my eyes shut for ten minutes. After this I opened my eyes and could tell straight away that my vision was changed for the better. I Rested for the remainder of the day and put in drops as instructed. I awoke the next day and reached for my glasses as I have done for 43 years, realised I had eye shields on took them off and I could see the world like I have never seen it before. It is now wednesday, two days after the operation. I have had no pain or soreness, just a little sensation late at night like leaving a contact lens in too long. My vision is fantastic and I am sooooo happy after struggling with my vision all these years. This is without doubt one of the best things that has ever happened to me and it is worth every penny. If you have any doubts forget them and if you want the best go to accuvision - you won't regret it.

When I went for my consultation with Accuvision in Solihull, I wasn’t too optimistic as I’d already been turned down for treatment by Optimax, Ultralase and Optical Express. My prescription was +4.25 with astigmatism in both eyes and a prism. The prism was the main reason the other clinics turned me down! After the comprehensive tests, Nick Dash informed me that not only could they treat me but that I was well within their prescription range due to the fact that they use an advanced laser with 400Hz technology which results in a much higher resolution of treatment. I don’t pretend to understand it but Nick convinced me that they have the best technologically advanced equipment in the UK and this enables them to treat people that other clinics turn down. I had the operation 3 weeks later and went through a nervous but painless 10 minutes in the operating room with the surgical team talking me through each step as they went. That evening, I almost felt guilty that I’d suffered no pain or discomfort what so ever. My vision, although greatly improved, was still a bit blurred which I was told to expect. Feeling slightly disappointed, I arrived at Accuvision the following morning and saw Nick again. This is where he does his party piece and within 30 seconds I’m reading off the chart with pinpoint clarity down to 20/20 and beyond! (Email me if you want to know more! ….andyberry@blueyonder.co.uk). As far as I’m concerned, these guys are the dogs bol***ks…. Don’t hesitate a moment longer for this life changing opportunity.

After a disappointing experience at Ultralase (you can read my experience in their page) I went to Accuvision for the initial check-up. It was a completely different story, staff was very friendly but what impressed me the most was that the outcome of each exams was discussed with me, I was shown graphs, numbers and explained their meaning and what they meant in terms of surgery for me. Because of the shape of my right eye, I was told that I was really borderline and that the only surgery they would perform is Epi-Lasik which is relatively new for the UK and was explained all the differences in terms of surgery and possible results. I went home and did a lot of reading about Lasek (offered by Ultralase) and Epi-Lasik and found the latter a much better and safer solution. Booked my surgery the day after. I had it on the 6th of February, the surgery was completely painless and so was the first week. I was told that Epi-Lasik can be more painful than Lasik but I did not feel pain at all, the first day I was in tears most of the time and the first 2-3 days I was very sensitive to light but that was it.
Yesterday I had my 6 week check-up, my left eye is 20/15 which is amazing and my right eye (which was the one difficult to predict) has 20/20. Night vision is very good too. I can only spot a slight difference in night vision acuity when I'm really tired.
I would not have any doubt in recommending Accuvision to anyone looking into eye surgery, it was the best thing I've ever done.

I plucked up the courage after searching the web to have my eyes lasered at accuvision solihull. I was not pressurised into committing to anything which was great and the service I received was professional but friendly, putting me at ease.
On the day I was a bag of nerves, there could be no one more scared than I in that waiting room. The procedure was over quickly, did it hurt? Well the first eye was fine, the 2nd eye hurt for maybe 30 secs, apparantly you tense after the first eye, it felt wierd but I think your mind makes it worse than what it actually was.

Would I have it done again? absolutely, I can see perfectly, the staff were wonderful and the procedure was over quickly, I am proud of myself for having this procedure and wish I had done it sooner, dont go anywhere else but here.

Oh......I'm so pleased with my vision. I have just had my 3 month check-up today. I had mono vision performed on 24/11/05.[that means I had one eye lasered for long vision and the other fot short vision] Having worn glasses for the past 10 years I can see beautifully. I cannot fault the service at all times of Accuvision and thoroughly recommend them.

I'm typing this the day after surgery and still cannot believe that I no longer need glasses. I've just had my first check up and I have 20/20 vision. Yes it's a little hazy but I can see.

The surgery was so quick I was in the clinic for an hour and a half but surgery time was only 10 minutes. Even on leaving the surgery I could read number plates which, my sister who accompanied me, couldn't without her glasses.

The procedure was uncomfortable, but not painful and be preapred for a slight burning smell but it's worth it.

The staff were lovely too, I was talking and even laughing with the the surgeons and nurses whilst having it done! And they fully explained everything to me throughout.

I'd researched a lot of other clinics and been umming and ahhing for years but I knew as soon as I spoke to the surgeon on my first consultation that this was the place to go.

Now after 18 years of glassess wearing I can see, I can see, I can see. I'm off to bore more people with this revelation...

I spent 10 long years hiding behind glasses, hating every moment. I was unsuitable for contact lenses, I was told that I wouldn't be able to have laser surgery either. But after weeks of badgering by my daughter, I booked a consultation with Accuvision (thinly disguised as a London day trip incase I chickened out). I couldn't believe it when they told me that not only could they give me treatment, but that it would only take about ten minutes! The only draw back was the slight discomfort during the treatment, and being forced to rest and eat chocolates all afternoon. Because I had a stigmatism, they tailored my treatment so that my left eye is for reading and my right is for distance, luckly they work together, and any fears of looking like a lizard have been resolved. My night driving, although a little hazy to begin with, is fine now. Everyone at the centre were extremely kind and supportive, and had the kind of attitudes that you would expect when you are putting one of your most valuable senses in their hands. Wish I had done it years ago. Thanks again.

I had been considering laser eye surgery for quite some time but until the last couple of years, my prescription had not been stable enough. Over the last 2 years my prescription had not changed (-6.25 & -6.00) so I decided to take the plunge and go for it. I'd had enough of glasses and contact lenses and always hated my dependence on them. I spent time researching what was available and stumbled on this website. Having read the comments posted on each clinic, I decided to go for a consultation with Accuvision, mainly due to the fact that nobody had a bad word to say about them. I went along for the consultation and even at this point I knew I had made the right choice of clinics. The staff are friendly and the first thing that happened was I was offered a cup of coffee while I waited. A small thing perhaps, but it does make you feel welcome. The consultation was thorough and professional and everything was explained to me, including the potential risks and possible complications. There was absolutely no hard-sell and you are left with a fully informed decision to make. I decided that I was going to go for it and an appointment was made for approx. 2 weeks later. I was quite nervous beforehand but my surgeon (Brett Halliday) was very down to earth and reassured me that the procedure was quick and painless. I had 2 main fears about the surgery, the first one was that the eye clamp would be difficult to fit and very uncomfortable, the second one is that I would freak out when I saw the blade of the microkeratome coming towards my eye. Fortunately both fears were unfounded. The eye clamp just seemed to flick into my eye with no trouble at all and you don't really see the microkeratome at all, just red & green lights throughout. The surgery was over in minutes and before you know it, they're finished. Initially my vision was sharp but foggy (a bit like looking through a misty window) and was rather blurry for about 3 days. When the anaesthetic wore off, I had shooting pains in my right eye (not unbearable, but uncomfortable) but no reaction in my left. This subsided by the next day and after that it felt like just something in my eye. Not much changed until day 4, when the discomfort suddenly stopped and the blurriness disappeared (almost instantly - quite weird!) and I was amazed how good my eyesight was! I can't think of a "Wow" factor that could beat this one. After 15 years of bad eyesight, I could now see more clearly than I could with by glasses on previously. I spent ages just staring out of the window at work amazed at just how much detail I could make out. When I went back for my checkup the following week, my vision was 20/20 and I could even make out some of the letters on the 20/15 line! I am writing this exactly 2 weeks after surgery and my vision is still excellent. Still getting some halos at night but this is improving gradually. All in all, I would certainly recommend this surgery to anyone who hates the hassle of glasses and contact lenses (the few days of discomfort is definately worth it) and I really doubt there's a clinic anywhere that is better than Accuvison.

I have just been for my check-up 5 months after the surgery. I have better than 20/20 vision.

My eyesight was not actually that bad before I decided to have the laser treatment. Only -1.25 in one eye and -1.00 in the other, but blurry enough for me that I wore daily disposal lenses every day. In the summer of 2005 I tried a new type of lens- Ortho K that you wear overnight. After messing around with these lenses I decided to take the plunge.

The surgery itself was very quick- really only a few minutes. There was no pain, it is more the thought of what is happening that I think concerns people. I know friends have not wanted to hear descriptions!

The evening afterwards was slightly uncomfortable- the advice was to keep your eyes shut as much as possible and drops every hour. The next morning things were a little blurry, but by the end of the day my vision had cleared.

I cannot recommend this more highly- even if your eyesight is not that bad!

Hey Everyone, I just had my eyes lasered on 27/02/06 and i have 20/20 vision in both eyes. I am so happy iv told just about everyone i know i had it done LOL.

Right, down to my experience it happened so quick as it only takes a few minutes to do for each eye. If you are getting it done stay calm as there is no pain then once done DO NOT RUB YOUR EYES WHATSOEVER as this will probably cause major complications. After surgery i went straight home to my bed and kept my eyes closed for the rest of the day whilst inserting eye drops every hour. Literally the next day i woke up shocked to see really clear. Make sure you take enough time off work my personal need was at least a week as i needed to slowly and safely get used to my new eyes plus i wanted it to heel as much as possible before i went back to my stinking computer at work Lol. Its been 8 days now and my eyes are still adjusting and varying, as in my left eye is better one day then my right is better another so i reckon a couple more weeks it should be sweet.

I Cant thank everyone in Accuvision they are all profesional and make you feel easy at all times. I did a lot of research before doing this surgery and knew Accuvision is pretty much the best out there and although you cant put a price on eyes its really good value and worth every penny.

If you are not sure whether to go for a consultation then you have no idea what you are missing!!!

I will keep you all posted on my monthly check up!!

It took me 7 years to have this procedure done, a few friends had success with Accuvision and I finally decided to do it. I was so nervous on the day that I talked myself into all kinds of scenarios. It wasn't the most comfortable or pleasant procedure, and I wasn't ready for the intense burning sensation in my eyes for a couple of hours after BUT I CAN SEE!!! All the staff were SO friendly and understanding about my fear, I could not have asked for nicer people. I would recommend anyone who is tired of lenses and glasses to JUST GO FOR IT! I wake every morning with a sense of wonder and what I can see
Thank you!

A very positive experience. I came to this site before I chose to go with Accuvision in Fulham. I've followed eye surgery for many years but always thought it too risky. The most recent techniques have cut down risk substantially and make a positive outcome for high myopes like myself a really good chance.
My prescription was -8 in both eyes and slight astigmatism, no other major problems. I had custom lasik on Thursday and have carefully followed the regime since then. My vision is better than 20/20 some 3 days later and getting better!
I've religiously stuck to the post-op regime, including keeping my eyes closed for most of the time immediately following the op.
A very professional company with ultra-modern equipment, and they're looking for perfection if they can achieve it.
It's a fantastic result that puts an end to 33 years of wearing glasses.

Accuvision provided me with a free initial consultation which was very thorough and professional.

Based on this I knew I was in the right hands and decided to have the surgery.

On the day of surgery everything went well with a perfect outcome.

The after care is just as thorough.

In addition I thought the cost of surgery was very affordable.

I am delighted with the outcome of my experience at Accuvision. The surgery has been life changing and I have already recommended others to Accuvision!

(posted on the listings lab blog; http://blog.listingslab.com)

Miraculous!

That’s the only word to describe lasik laser eye surgery. Actually, uncomfortable also describes it pretty well.

I didn’t go blind. Far from it. Less than 24 hour after the procedure and I have better than 20/20 vision. OK, my vision is a little hazy and my eyes hurt a little bit because essentially they are still recovering from injury, but I no longer need to wear glasses.

I met Phil at the clinic in Parson’s Green at 2:30pm. We had to have a quick eye test to make sure that our eyes hadn’t changed in the 6 months since our initial consultation.

If you have an image of the clinic as a hospital ward, it’s nothing like that. A stylish, well appointed waiting room. Comfy chairs, big screen plasma TV with rolling news and good tea and coffee on tap.

It is a little bit of a production line and all the staff are slick and professional. So while Phil and I got on with chatting about Meagan’s party in Kingston at the weekend, we were whisked off here and there to meet the surgeon, be briefed on aftercare, sign our consent forms, and then finally into the treatment room for the procedure itself.

Which is not very nice. Have no illusions. This is Laser. Eye. Surgery. You are awake and there is no way to do this without staring up at the laser beam. If I ever make a film about alien abduction, it will look like the experience of having lasik.

So I’m lying there, trying to stay as calm as I can and relax as much as possible. Not easy when the surgeons are clamping your eye open and you’re seeing it all coming. Then comes the aesthetic and something very weird. A scalpel thingy on some kind of runner comes down and skrr skrr, you KNOW that they’ve just cut a flap right through your cornea. Then the weirdest bit. Some tweezers come down and you actually see the flap of your cornea being peeled back and your vision suddenly goes completely blurred.

2 more minutes. The laser is positioned and then zzzt zzzt. There’s a slight smell of burnt pork as human tissue is burned away, but it’s done in a split second. Then the flap is closed, a contact lens put over the wound is cleaned and bosh. Job done. On to the other eye.

That’s it, you’re done. Like I say. Not nice. But you can live with it.

Next step is to go back out to the waiting room and hang about for 15 mins with your eyes closed. All the better if you’ve got a mate there you can chat to. Another quick check up and some eye drops and you’re good to go. We were both finished by 4pm.

I’d booked a B&B just up the road to make things easier. You need to be back in the clinic for a check-up the next morning and you don’t want to be buggering around on the tube.

It was cold outside and my eyes hurt. When the aesthetic wore off later in the afternoon they hurt more, but the antibiotic eye drops you need to put in every hour soothed & helped a lot.

A couple of hours of recovery and Phil and I were well enough to go out for dinner. After a nice bottle of wine at Strada in Parson’s Green it didn’t hurt at all and we both started to notice how well we could see. Like we used to see with our glasses.

So yes. This morning my eyes hurt a bit, but I’d had contacts in over night and I’ve never worn them before, but having the optician check my prescription again and tell me I had better than 20/20 vision. Well, quite frankly it’s well worth a little bit of discomfort.

A thousand pounds well spent too. All of a sudden I’m thinking about what other kinds of elective surgery I can have. Maybe I’ll put my name down for a liquid titanium double ‘ard exo-skeleton so I’m first in the queue when they get invented.

I like most people did a lot of research before going ahead with my surgery, I opted to go and see Accuvision and Ultralase who from this site seemed to me the best bets. My first appointment was at Accuvision and Vik took me through all of the complex test - he was really nice and obviously new his stuff, and really made me feel at ease, and also kept me well informed of all the tests he was doing and the outcomes he observed, the tests took 1 hour in total, and at all times, all of the staff in Fulham were really friendly and professional. He noted that I had a very minute cataract and printed out a picture of it for me but stressed that the cataract was very small and looked congenital, and was nothing to worry about. I was advised that as my eyes were well within all of the parameters and that they recommended the normal Lasik at a cost of £1398 for both eyes. My second appointment was at Ultralase on Tottenham Court Road, the _expression "poles apart" comes to mind when trying to compare it with Ultralase. Where do I start - well the initial tests were carried out by the 'receptionist' who seemed to me to have no idea what she was doing, she had to re-do 2 of the test 2-3 times as she wasn't getting correct results. She never said one word to me whilst carrying out these tests which even though I knew what was going on as I had had similar tests at Accuvision still made me feel really uneasy. Once these initial tests had been carried out I was sent outside to wait to see the Optometrist for 40 mins! After the optometrist who I thought was not much better qualified than the 'Receptionist' I was sent in to see the 'Sales person', who proceeded to tell me that my optometrist had advised I go for the Custom Procedure at a cost of £3000 (the most expensive), without any real explanation as to why I they thought I warranted this particular procedure other than trying to infer that if I didn't go for the custom I would "probably" have night Halos!! They then proceeded to try and get a surgery date from me there and then, no "well, go away and think about it and get back to us with your decision", and seemed quite shocked when I said I would not be making any appointment at this stage. To be honest there was absolutely no way I would ever let them near my eyes. In total the whole experience took just over 2 hours, but most of this time was spent in the waiting room! I obviously opted to go ahead with my surgery with Accuvision, who were and have been absolutely brilliant, the surgery in November, aftercare, information provided has all been second to none. My prescription was -2.5 and -2.75 and I had 20/15 vision @ my 1 month check-up, which is absolutely and scarily accurate, even and in fact more noticeable at night. The surgery was I thought absolutely painless, although the smell of your eyeballs burning was a little weird! And took in total no longer than 3 minutes; afterwards and for about 8 weeks my eyes were extremely dry and scratchy, like having your eyeball covered in salt and vinegar!!! But the drops sort out this problem instantly. In summary I would highly recommend Accuvision in Fulham if you are considering this procedure.

After wearing glasses for over 10 years I decided I would like a change and started looking into laser eye surgery. I visited the solihull branch and received excellent advice and service. My surgery took place on 5 september 2005 and although the actual procedure was very strange I did not find it painful in the slightest. Every second of the surgery you were advised as to what was going to happen. After the surgery my eyes watered for a few hours after but come the evening I could actual see the television clearly. I went for my regular check ups which my vision had improved on each visit, and on my last visit on 16 January I was told that i had 110% vision which is excellent. I do not need to go back unless I feel the need to. I cannot fault accuvison on any of the advice or after service that I have received, and I would like to thank them very much for freeing me of glasses.

I can honestly say this is one of the best things I have ever done & is money very well spent. The staff in the Fulham clinic are extremely friendly & professional & put you completely at ease. I was very nervous on the actual day of the procedure but they were very kind & even offered for someone to hold my hand during the process! In the end I didn't need it as it was over so quickly & was so utterly painless that I soon realised I had had nothing whatsoever to worry about. The worst thing of all was not being able to wear eye make-up for 2 weeks! But I got over it! I now wake up every day & can see better than I ever could with contact lenses, I can shower & see what I am doing & am really looking forward to going on holiday & swimming & sunbathing without a second thought. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness & helpfulness - they are always on the end of the phone if want to ask anything. I would also like to thank my mate Ben who took the plunge before me & pushed me into finally getting it done myself - I wish I had done it 10 years ago!!

I had the laser treatment last August and have just completed my final check up. I am amazed that, for 37 years of my life, I woke every morning with very blurred vision and now I find myself taking for granted the fact that I now have better than 20/20 vision all the time!

I know what it's like when you first decide to go for this procedure and how nervous you will be. Please be assured that the staff at Accuvision made me feel confident from the outset both through their professionalism and the way they explained exactly how each step would go in as much graphic detail as you fancy!

The actual operation itself, yes of course I was a bit nervous and the experience itself was a bit freaky but utterly painless. It was over in no time and I had total confidence in the surgeon and his staff.

The aftercare has been great and I would recommend Accuvision to anyone considering this treatment.

My journey to excellent vision took a little longer than I expected. This was due to having a very high prescription (nearly -11 in both eyes) and in conjunction with this I opted for monovision as I was approaching my mid-forties. Monovision deliberately undercorrects one eye, enabling you to focus close up without reading glasses as you grow older whilst the other eye is corrected to full vision for distance purposes. I first underwent the procedure in December 2004 and would agree with others that it is not painful, although not exactly pleasant and I was glad to get it over with! As the months went by it was apparent that my distance eye had not achieved perfect vision and ended up at around -1. With the deliberately undercorrected other eye, this meant that although my vision was vastly improved, things were still not perfect and I was obliged to wear glasses to drive and watch TV. Daryus at Accuvision felt that this outcome was the result of a) the very high initial prescription and b) having worn contact lenses for so many years, such that my eyes were still 'relaxing' after the long term pressure which in turn affected the shape of the cornea as it healed. It was therefore recommended that I wait a year to check how my eyes stabilised before going for 'enhancement', i.e. undergoing the procedure again. With so much time to think over the year, I was full of doubts as the enhancement date approached. I was worried that the distance eye would still not come up to scratch and simply concerned about 'pushing my luck' by having the procedure done again. When I went back for the second procedure, I expressed a desire to go for full vision in both eyes to give me the best possible chance of distance vision. Both Daryus and Chad Rostron the surgeon counselled against this, as it would just mean swapping one pair of visual aids for another (i.e. reading glasses) as I grew older. So we left the undercorrected eye as it was and re-corrected the distance vision. I am happy to say that a few weeks on, things are great. I can see very sharply with my distance eye and although I am still getting used to monovision (where the brain has to learn to make the transition from one eye to another depending on what you are looking at) I am feeling very confident about the outcome and in fact quite smug as I see friends and relatives of a similar age resorting to reading glasses!! Furthermore apart from a little initial dryness I had no side effects at all. Thank you everyone at Accuvision for allaying my fears and encouraging me to stick it out to the end. It is an indescribable freedom to be without contacts or glasses for the first time in 35 years! So for anyone reading this and considering the procedure, I would urge you to go for it. Accuvision are an extremely competent and compassionate team who despite the large numbers of people they treat every year, retain a very personal touch.

I was treated on 10 November and I'm writing this just after an 8 week check.

I have been very impressed with Accuvision and their laser technology. Everyone at the Fulham clinic has been so friendly and helpful. I have really felt like part of the family. I will actually miss going there when all the aftercare visits are done.

Regarding the technology, I did a lot of reading about different lasers. It can be quite confusing but at the end of the day it was all about results. Accuvision's success rates are some of the best that I have seen. My eyes were -4.5 and -5.0. Accuvision's 20/20 rate for this prescription range is over 95%. Check that against your friendly local competitor who charges more because they offer "the best technology".

I was shivering in the waiting room before treatment but I needn't have worried. The procedure was an absolute doddle. It didn't hurt a bit and wasn't even uncomfortable. I would almost go as far as to say that I enjoyed the experience. It was certainly fascinating. The nicest surprise was that I had absolutely no discomfort afterwards - not even the gritty, watery eyes that I was expecting. Accuvision advise you to keep your eyes shut as much as possible for the rest of the day and I think that must really help.

My vision is now 20/20 with both eyes together (although my right eye is 20/30) and I can do things like cycle in the rain and see my kids in the swimming pool. I'm looking forward to snowboarding in February without the hassle of my clumsy glasses/goggles combo, or the pain of trying to arrange contact lenses for just one week.

On top of all this, both eyes were done for £1,398 and I really feel that I had some of the best treatment available - not "cheap surgery" at all. I really cannot understand why people pay more.

The absolute icing on the cake was when I received a Christmas card from Accuvision with a picture of a snow covered mountain with fresh snowboard tracks. Now this may be coincidence, but I had told Vikash that one of my reasons for having this done was snowboarding. Coincidence or not, it was a beautiful experience to receive the card and to picture myself out there on the snow enjoying life without visual aids.

The only (very minor) annoyance was when I was told that they don't recommed tube travel after surgery. It was a bit late as I had travelled in by train/tube and I wasn't about to pay about £150 for a taxi home. I just shut my eyes and hung on to my wife's arm. Nothing to worry about.

I could go on all day about how excellent the Fulham clinic is but I suppose I should let someone else have a turn!

Three and a half weeks since the LASIK which was so simple &
quick it was less uncomfortable than a dental check up , I was -3 in both eyes , now the right is close to 20/20 and the left a little behind . The results are amazing and Accuvision were my choice after consulting 3 other clinics and I'm sure it was the right one . One small note of caution , getting used to reading glasses is quite a learning curve afterwards although I've gone from + 1.5 a week after to + 1.0 presently . No pain no overnight discomfort , just slight confusion every morning when I realise I've left home without my specs . The brain still isn't sure which eye to favour , time will tell .

I had wavefront LASIK on both eyes at Accuvision in July 2005, performed by Mr Chad Rostron and his team. Prior to this, my prescription was -4.25/-5.00, and I had been wearing glasses/contact lenses for about 15 years since my late teens. Without them, I couldn't even watch TV, let alone drive.

The operation was a textbook success: I had mild discomfort (grittiness/sensitivity to light) for the rest of the day, but the next morning woke up feeling fine and able to see almost perfectly. By day 3, I could easily have gone back to work, but had chosen to take the whole week off just in case.

Now, 6 months later, I've been discharged from Accuvision's aftercare programme, as my eyes have fully healed and I've suffered no problems whatsoever in the meantime. My vision has stabilised at better than 20/20 in both eyes.

I really can't fault Accuvision at all. Their initial consultation is free, genuinely no-obligation and very detailed, the treatment is fully explained, quick and painless, and the aftercare programme is spot-on, including a 24-hour helpline in the unlikely event of any urgent problems.

Accuvision aren't the cheapest, but knowing a friend who went to one of the bargain-basement laser eye clinics and suffered quite bad complications, the words "false economy" spring to mind...
