I had been wearing glasses or contacts for about 25 years with a prescription
of -5.5 & -5.75. I wanted corrective surgery but waited until I found
a recommended, safe procedure. Accuvision were suggested to me by a neighbour
who had his eyes corrected there a year previous and had experinced no
problems. The free consultation was extremely thorough & profeessional,
plus the specialist surgeon performing the procedure instilled confidence.
The whole procedure took about 20 minutes. It was rather like going to
the dentist...but not as bad! The next day I could see fine, with just
a slight dry itching and two weeks later it was as if I'd never had glasses!
After 6 weeks I have better than 20:20 vision. I'd recommend it.

It is now 3 weeks, since I plucked up the courage to have laser surgery
to my eyes! Like many people I was very anxious about making what was,
to me, such a huge decision. However, the pre-op assessment allayed most
of my concerns and gave me a really good understanding of what I could
expect at the time of surgery and afterwards, and of the potential complications
and likely benefits. Many thanks to Vikash Patel, for his patience and
calmness, and for answering all my queries, without putting me under any
pressure to make a decision.
The surgery went exactly as planned with all the staff helping to put
me at my ease. What amazes me most, is that for me, there really was no
pain at all! The surgeon Mr Rostron was highly professional and the whole
procedure took about 15 minutes.
Unfortunately, at my follow up the next day, it became apparent that the
corneal flap had moved during the night and was ruckled up, leaving my
vision blurred.Within minutes, after a comprehensive explanation, I was
back in the treatment room, having the flap repositioned. Once again the
procedure was swift and painless, many thanks to Daryus, and the following
day my sight was perfect.
This has been one of the best decisions I have made, my eyesight is perfect
and it is great not to have to wear glasses any more! I would highly recommend
the friendly staff and the expertise I found at AccuVision.

i had my eyes lasered in febuary this year. due to a very bad astigmatism
i had to have the tapography laser treatment which maps the eye so it
can exactly remove the correct amount of corneal tissue. my vision is
perfect now and it has changed my life, i am only 19 and it now means
that i can pursue my dream career of becoming a police officer. i would
advise any person who is thinking of having laser eye surgery to go to
Accuvision, they have done an amazing job with me and i wouldn't have
tried anywhere else. i give them 7 out of 5 excellent job.

Prior to visiting Accuvision i had been turned down by every laser eye
surgery the length and breadth of the country! This was due to my difficult
prescription: -12 both eyes with +3 astigmatism and thin corneas. BLIND
AS THE PREVERBIAL BAT! I had almost given up hope, and had even considered
ICL's, however i was fortunate enough to hear of Accuvision through a
friend of a friend. After a quick discussion on the phone Accuvision were
confident that they could do something for me as they specialised in difficult
cases such as mine. Even though i remained sceptical i booked for a consultation
with a provisional booking for surgery the next day and a check-up appointment
for the day after. I set off from Glasgow on the day of the consultation
with the full backing of friends and family which hepled settle my nerves
although given my previous experiences i didnt hold out much hope of being
suitable for treatment. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful
and after all of the measurements had been done they advised me of what
i could expect in terms of correction. They anticipated that i would be
left with approx a -1 prescription which for me was very acceptable given
my thick glasses and specialist contact lenses. I went ahead with the
surgery the next day and everything went smoothly, the whole procedure
was handled very professionally and i felt totally at ease. Afterwards
i only suffered slight discomfort and by the next day i walked along the
street and could see signs and read posters. Amazing!. At the check-up
my vision was measured at -1 both eyes and now 6 weeks later both are
at -.075. I have not worn glasses since although i will get a pair for
night time driving. My eyes have been fine and i have not felt any discomfort
or suffered from dry eyes. My life has changed
dramaticallyand i cant thank the staff at Accuvision enough. I would recommend
Accuvision to anyone who asked.

I had my eyes lasered at Accuvision in May 2005. I
am absolutely thrilled with the result. I am 54 and had a prescription
of -6.5 with astigmatism. The results are fantastic and I'm certainly
very pleased that I had it done. All the staff are very polite and friendly
and they really put you at your ease. The surgery does not hurt at all,
the most you could say is some slight discomfort for a short while but
it is certainly worth it.

I have recently had my one year follow-up appointment
at Accuvision having been treated in April 2004 and they have been fantastic
from my initial consultation through surgery and follow-up appointments.
I had -7 prescription in one eye and slightly higher in the other, both
with astigmatism and larger-than-average pupils - now I have 20/20 vision.
I never thought this would be possible! Having started wearing glasses
aged 5 and having had several unsuccessful and uncomfortable attempts
at wearing contact lenses in my teens and twenties I never thought I'd
be free of glasses.
I had looked into laser surgery in the early 90s and been told my prescription
was too high and that basically I would never be treatable. When I went
to have a consultation with Accuvision (aged 37) I had prepared myself
for a 'No' to avoid disappointment. The consultation was very thorough
and I was delighted (and amazed!) when told I was treatable.
Everything was very clearly explained, and I was reassured at how thorough
the post-operative care sounded with several regular check-ups following
the procedure.
Because everything was so carefully explained (and also because I found
the comments on this website very helpful and reassuring) on the day of
surgery I felt fairly relaxed. I had Wavefront Lasik and it was quick
and painless. I took it easy for the next few days and made sure I didn't
rub my eyes. I was delighted and amazed with the results - I never thought
it would be possible. Without my glasses previously I wouldn't have been
able to read the top letter of an optician's chart - now I can read the
bottom line!
Many thanks to everyone at Accuvision - their care and treatment is fantastic
- I'm so glad I came to see you!

I was turned down by a couple of clinics
as I was very short-sighted, have flat eyeballs and very large pupils.
I found Accuvision through Lasikeyes and phoned them, half expecting to
be turned away. To my relief they said that they thought they could treat
me, although could not guarantee me 20:20 vision. After a very thorough
consultation and a chat with one of the surgeons I decided to go ahead.
I had my surgery in March, and am delighted. I went back last week for
my latest checkup and now have better vision unaided than I had with glasses
before surgery. It was not entirely problem free, there was a problem
with the healing of one of the flaps, but it was sorted out promptly and
efficiently. All the staff were great, and I think it was money very well
spent. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I am back at work 48 hours after having surgery which says a lot about
how easy the procedure is. My initial check-up said better than 20/20.
My prescription was -3.00 in each eye. I compared 3 clinics, Ultralase,
Optical Express and Accuvision. I went for Accuvision because the environment
felt right and the surgeon, Chad Rostron works in the NHS which is listed
as an important criteria on the choosing the surgeon page on this site.
The surgery was very quick and their approach was very calming. Nevertheless,
you do worry that you are completely mad in deciding to have your eye
cut into! If you are nervous of dentists etc ask if you can take a valium
or something. Fortunately it is over very quickly and is completely painless.
I kept my eyes shut from surgery until the next morning as this helps
healing. It basically feels like you have some soap and an inside out
contact lense in your eye for about 2 hours post surgery. The next day
feels like you have been wearing contact lenses for too long and now,
48 hours later, I just feel like I have contact lenses in, I always found
my vision slightly blurry when scrolling down a computer page too quickly
with contact lenses in and this is exactly the same sensation. I will
post again in a couple of months to confirm that my eyes feel 100% normal
but so far I am really happy with the result.

mind up that you want treatment, I'd definitely recommed this place to

It is about two years now since I had laser eye surgery at Accuvision.
Prior to deciding whether to have treatment I looked at a number of sites
& found this one the most useful. I was interested to know what peoples
experience was some while after surgery, rather than just after a few
weeks. As I am now in that position myself, I thought it might be useful
to recount my own experience. I had laser eye surgery two years ago when
I was 51. The entire process was speedy, without pain & completely
successful.
Pre-treatment, I had short sight. My prescription was between –8.5 &
-9.5 with severe astigmatism in both eyes. I became aware that some clinics
only dealt with less severe conditions & after some six months of
looking at the web, dithering & irresolution, I decided to make an
appointment at Accuvision who seemed to cover all eventualities. They
had received almost evangelical praise from people having used them &
I think that was what tipped the balance for me. When I visited, there
was no hard sell & I felt that I was being given space to make up
my mind. Measurements were taken & I was assured that I was a suitable
case. After a few more days pondering, I made the appointment for the
surgery a few weeks hence – in May 2003. I did nothing in particular before
surgery other than have a couple of days off work to rest (if not relax)
before the treatment.
The actual treatment was a pleasant anti-climax. I recall having some
form of drops put in my eyes a few minutes before being ushered into the
treatment room. The laser didn’t look much different to the sort of equipment
I’d see in a dentist’s room (but of course my sight wasn’t very good!).
I think I recall some checks to line up laser & I. There was no discomfort
as such, but there was some form of fitment to make sure I didn’t blink
mid-zap.
Each eye took only about 30 seconds to a minute. I could hear whirring
& it looked like I was looking through an old fashioned kaleidoscope.
The instant it was over, I could see better albeit through slightly watery
eyes. I doubt I was in the treatment room for more than 10-15 minutes.
After treatment, I sat out in the main reception area for some minutes
& then back in to another room to check that all had gone to plan.
I was already seeing well, but it was emphasised that I should keep my
eyes shut for the rest of the day & take drops in the eye for a two
or three days at gradually increasing intervals. I was told that the first
24 hours were very important & to stick to the regime suggested.
Although I’d read of others going straight out after surgery, I followed
my instructions to the letter. We took a cab home & I had a very boring
afternoon & evening with my eyes shut, but with the consolation of
Radio 4. I took the drops at the times recommended. There was no pain.
Once at home, I found the first two or three hours mildly uncomfortable
– a bit like your eye might feel if you’ve taken a lash out – when it
still stings a little, but that was all. For the first couple of nights,
I had to wear goggles (to protect the eye in case you rub it unintentionally
when asleep) & could do a fair imitation of a human to bluebottle
mutant. I took a further week off work to give my eyes a good rest. Personally,
I think this is a good idea. You might not feel you need it, but having
paid good money out to get good eyesight, it seems worth taking a few
extra days just to make sure. If nothing else, it gives you time to get
used to what you look like in a mirror!
And that was that! I returned the day after surgery & was assured
all had gone well. I could see perfectly. I returned at the requisite
times – as I recall it, a week after, a month after & three months
after. For good measure I returned after a year & (finally) recently
after all but two years. Each visit confirmed that the treatment was a
success, that there was no problem with the eyes & that all was fine.
I have no need of glasses, I can read perfectly, use a computer. I have
no problem driving – day or night & experience on ‘night-vision’ problems.
I’ve no need to go back to Accuvision anymore – but I think I will actually
miss it! I felt I owed them a debt, for what they have done for me – hence
this message.
This surgery really can be life changing. I had worn glasses for 40 years
& resented the fact for about 39. The psychological effect of my not
wearing glasses has been immense. I feel far happier inside my own skin
& I think my dealings with the outside world – friends, family &
work have all been enhanced. This is a big step & you would be well
advised to think it through at your own pace. If my experience is anything
to go by, Accuvision are well worth a visit. For me, everything promised
has come about with minimum hassle & to considerable effect. I really
cannot emphasise enough how much better it has made me feel – hence my
recommendation & thanks to Accuvision.

I came across this site very recently and felt that I had to comment on
the brilliant service and outcome of my Wavefront Lasik carried out over
three years ago at Accuvision. My original prescription was -6.00 and
-6.50. Now my sight is better than 20/20. Remarkable when you think about
it. There's been no looking back for me. I believe that Accuvision were
the first clinic to routinely carry out wavefront treatments in the UK.
If you are serious about getting your eyes lasered trust them to a clinic
that excels. Second best was not an option for me.

My husband and I had our eye surgery about 9 weeks ago, and I think it's
time to consider the results.
My husband (with a real strong prescription, -11 / -9,
that means blind as a mole and not allowed to wear contact lenses any
more) and I (-3.5 and -1.5) had been interested in eye treatment for many
years, but we had the feeling that eye treatment in Germany is not as
common as in other countries. If somebody talked e. g. on TV about it,
in most cases it was quite a negative report showing the risks, side effects
etc. So we were very hesitant.
Nevertheless, two years ago my husband went to a prestigious
ophthalmologist in Germany for a first consultation. He was told that
his eyes could be treated by lasik, but a dioptre of about -2 would still
remain. Continuing to wear glasses after eye surgery was not the result
my husband wanted to have. So we again postponed the project “eye
treatment”.
As fate would have it, my husband's brother has been
working in the lasik business for a few years. Travelling around the world,
he has got access to specialists around the world, with a lot of experience,
best staff and equipped with the best technology, etc., and so, fortunately,
he got to know about Accuvision.
He had his own eye surgery there last year and he was so enthusiastic
and happy about the result, that he convinced us, in many and detailed
discussions, to take a trip to London.
Our flight was very early on March 17 and, a little bit
tired, we arrived at the clinic at around 11 am. We got a warm welcome,
and after some relaxing minutes and cups of coffee we both were called
for parallel consultations. The consultations were very thorough and everything
was explained to us in great detail. The outcome of the consultation was
that we met all requirements for lasik surgery with optimal results. What
a surprise for my husband, who hadn't expected that!
As we felt ourselves to be in the best of hands at Accuvision
we didn't hesitate, and decided to undergo the treatment the same day.
My husband went first. He was very nervous when going to the operating
theatre, but when he came back after about 15 minutes he was all smiles
and said that it was completely painless and there was no need to worry.
My turn came later in the afternoon. The whole procedure also took no
more than 15 minutes - I found it a little bit uncomfortable, but painless.
During the evening vision was a little bit blurred, but
the next morning the “aha” experience came when we woke up.
We could see details in the room and in the gardens outsight of the hotel
very clearly without glasses. The consultation on that morning at Accuvision
was again very thorough and professional, and we were pronounced with
20/20 vision. What a touching moment! We enjoyed the next two days in
London very much with sightseeing tours, a musical and so on. Without
glasses!!
After some ups and downs in the next two weeks (which were predicted by
Accuvision) we now have constant perfect vision. We still have moments
when we can't believe that those 15 minutes changed our lives so positively.
It was the best of decisions to have our eyes treated, and to have had
the surgery done by Accuvision.
The friendly Accuvision team does such an excellent job
that, with a clear conscience, we can advise everybody who is interested
in having eye treatment by lasik to get in touch with them.

Where do I begin! Last week I went into Accuvision with a -15 in each
eye and today I am writing this with a -0.5 in my right eye and pretty
much perfect in my left eye!
Accuvision were amazing, believe me with a prescription as bad as mine
I certainly did the research and I found Accuvision, the friendliest,
the most honest and the most caring out of all the others.
This was particularly noticeable when I went in for surgery first time
round and they discovered a small hole in my retina. Surgery was cancelled
and my money refunded, but more importantly than that the guys at Accuvision
arranged for me to see an eye specialist near my home to get the hole
checked out and phoned the next day to make sure I was ok.They explained
that I could retry the operation once the hole has stabilised but never
once pressurized me into it.
When I returned everyone greeted me by name and I felt like they were
all rooting for me! Although there were a few of us having operation that
day you never feel rushed, or get that conveyor belt feeling!
So now apart from a few artificial tears I can drive, use my pc and go
out in the evening without the dreaded glasses! Thanks guys - you changed
my life xx.

It came down to 2 clinics - Accuvision and Ultralase.
Both offered same price, but Accuvision had the edge on customer service
and convinced me that their procedure was more up to date. I have no regrets
and almost 3 weeks after surgery all is well, but for a little dry eye
and some bruising of the eye ball above the eye lid. I have 20/20 vision
for the first time in my life and it's amazing. I would definately recommend
getting Wavefront Lasik and Accuvision surpassed themselves in customer
service.

only one with the expertise to handle such a complex prescription. After
2 years of deliberation, I finally decided to take the plunge. The whole
experience was fantastic. The staff were friendly, reassuring and extremely

For the first time in my life I no longer need to wear glasses. I am delighted

only regret is not having it done sooner !

After researching for two years - finally had the procedure done 24/2/05.
I went to Accuvision because of all the clinics I visited - they seemed
the most knowledgeable and had the best laser for my eyes. My eyes were
not terrible, but I was tired of contacts for sports and outdoor activities
(3.75 in each eye with moderate astigmatism, 5.00 at night due to larger
than average pupils). End result - I've got 20/20.
My advice:
* Do your research - ask lots of questions. Find the best clinic at the
right price for your eye sight. I'm not sure that a more expensive clinic
equals better vision. The laser does most of the work. However, if go
too cheap, don't be surprised if things are less than professional.
* The procedure doesn't hurt - but it's a very bizarre, surreal experience.
Don't under-estimate the discomfort the first night. (Imagine dirt under
your contact lenses - it's about the same feeling for a few hours)
* Be patient, my eyes had slight fluctuations for the first 1-4 weeks
until they settled down. It was hard to stay optimistic about the results
with my eyes changing all the time. However things are looking good now.

I am 26 and have been wearing glasses since I was eight. In June last
year I had laser eye surgery at accuvision after being told from several
other companies that I could not have surgery as I had a very high stigmatism
in both eyes as well as being long sighted. After the surgery the results
were apparent instantly. The procedure was thoroughly explained and all
concerns I had were talked through in detail and I was confident in all
the staff and doctors . My vision is just shy of 20/20 and have so much
freedom and confidence in my life . A big thank you to all at accuvision

Having thought about LASIK eye surgery for the last few years I decided
to find out my suitability and book a consultation. I went to one other
clinic first before my friend recommended ACCUVISION where he had his
eyes done 18 months earlier and his cousin had her eyes done 12 months
before that.
The consultation was very thorough and all my questions were answered.
I was suitable so I decided to go ahead. On the day they redone some of
the tests and then I was taken in to meet the surgeon. He done some further
tests and answered more of my questions. Twenty minutes later I was taken
in for my surgery. The surgery team were friendly, efficient and confident
which was reassuring. The whole procedure was over very quickly. Immediately
I could see an improvement. The first day I was told to keep my eyes shut
as much as possible to aid the healing process. As the day progressed
I could see my vision improving all the time. I woke up the next morning
and my vision was great. I went for my check up consultation and when
they checked my eyes my vision was 20/20.I would now say that my vision
is better than when I wore glasses and I still can't get over the fact
that I don't need to put on my glasses or my contact lenses in to get
great vision. Also would like to add that the whole staff were very friendly
and helpful.

I have worn glasses since the age of 3 and soft contact lenses from the
age of 16. With a prescription of +7.5 with a severe astigmatism in both
eyes, I assumed that I was destined to wear my glasses and lenses for
life. This appeared to be compounded by a condition called Pigmentation
Dispersion Syndrome, which is apparently very rare in long sighted people.
When I was told last authumn that I may no longer be able to wear soft
lenses due to a growth of blood vessels in my right eye, I was devastated.
I contacted a number of clinics to enquire about laser surgery and was
told by all of them that my prescription was way outside the range for
treatment. Then, purely by chance, I came across an advert for Accuvision
and was encourgaed to find that they were willing to see me for a consultation.
Within a few weeks, I received an extremely comprehensive consultation
which dealt with every aspect of the surgery and possible related risks
in the most informative and empathetic way. The staff at the clinic were
the friendliest and most helpful professionals I have ever encountered
in the 32 years that I have been receiving treatment for my sight defects
and I was dumbfounded to be told that they could help me. A week later,
following a short and painless procedure, I was able to see almost perfectly
without the use of glasses or lenses. Now 3 months after the surgery,
I am delighted to report that I have better than 20/20 vision in my right
eye with no astigmatism and my left eye is -0.5 with no astigmatism. I
no longer need to wear glasses or lenses for anything and its all thanks
to Accuvision. Yes, it may cost you a little more but never underestimate
the value of your sight - these people are true professionals, not GPs
trained in laser surgery as found in some clinics and they have access
to the most state of the art technology that they have been involved in
developing. No other clinic can compare, so save yourself the time and
effort and go straight to the professionals. I would recommed this clinic
to ANYONE.

For a number of years I have wanted to get laser treatment and decided
after much research and 2 consultations with 2 seperate companies that
Accuvision (which was the 2nd consultation) was the company that instilled
full confidence in my trust with them with regards to the entire procedure.
I had a prescription of only -2 in both eyes and after a very efficient,
professional service I now have 20/20 vision.
To say that I am happy would be an understatement...

I was first introduced to Accuvision in autumn last year when I was at
my local Opticians for a routine two year check up. I was discussing my
poor eyesight with my Optician and I said that I had considered laser
eye surgery but had been told when I had made enquiries with a laser eye
company that they did not accept anyone with a prescription of 5.00+ and
over. The laser eye company I had made enquiries with said that they had
not had good results in the past with higher plus lens prescriptions and
so were not taking anyone with that sort of prescription any more. I had
also e-mailed another eye laser company and sent my details and they had
told me that I was border-line. My Optician said that they were involved
with an eye laser company called Accuvision and did I want them to have
a look at my eyes and see if I was suitable for laser surgery. I agreed
to this but didn’t really expect to be found suitable.
I went for the assessment. Carol did the assessment on behalf of Accuvision.
She was very thorough and easy to talk to. She said that I was suitable
and told me quite a lot about the procedure etc. She did not put me under
any pressure to make a decision there and then and told me to go away
and think about it.
It took me about six weeks to make up my mind completely. During this
time I had e-mailed Accuvision with some queries and I had gone back to
see Carol to discuss some points, which I wasn’t
too sure of. I also kept looking at the comments of people who
had previously had surgery, on Accuvision’s web site (hence my contribution).
I had the surgery on the 6th December last year. It really didn’t
hurt! The Accuvision team are very friendly and understand just how apprehensive
you are. I had a very lovely nurse who held my hand (I’m surprised
I didn’t break her fingers I was so frightened) through the whole
procedure. After the surgery my eyes just felt really heavy and felt a
lot more comfortable when they were shut. After about 30 minutes my surgeon,
Mr Chad Rostron, looked at them again to make sure everything was okay
and I was told to keep them closed as much as possible and to go to the
nearby hotel which I had booked for an overnight stay and have a sleep,
which I did. I kept wondering when the pain would start but to my delight
it never did. I felt well enough after a little sleep to have a meal.
The discomfort I had wasn’t even bad enough for me to have to take
any painkillers.
The next day I was able to see a lot more clearly although my vision was
still very blurred but I wasn’t too concerned as this was what I
had been told to expect. I wasn’t feeling any discomfort from the
surgery at all. I went back to the clinic for an eye examination and was
told that everything was going perfectly. It took quite a few weeks for
my vision to settle down completely.
I have recently had a routine check up, carried out at my local Opticians,
with Carol and Nick, from Accuvision. Before the surgery my eyesight prescription
was 5.00+ for my right eye and 5.25+ for my left eye for distance and
another 1.75+ on top of my distance prescription for close work (with
astigmatism). I currently do not need glasses at all for distance vision
and for computer work 1.50+ and 2.00+ for close work and reading. I was
told from the outset that because of my age (56) I would still need glasses
for close work. What I didn’t realise was that the lens prescription
would only be a fraction of what it was before surgery.
I am delighted with the results of my surgery. It is great to wake up
in the morning and not have to fumble around trying to think where you
left your glasses the night before. I was totally dependent on wearing
glasses and all the hassle that comes with that - but not any more! I
would like to say a big thanks to the whole Accuvision team. Denise Wellock

For 25 years I had to
wear thick uncomfortable glasses for a prescription of +6.00 r/e +7.00
l/e with severe astigmatism and a very lazy l/e, so as many of you out
there will know the dream of having to never wear glasses seemed unrealistic.
I had been refused laser treatment twice before when I was growing up
as my prescription was said to be too high.
In November 2004 my life was changed forever when I found out the Accuvision
would be able to treat me. Obviously, I felt nervous and had a million
questions in my mind but all the staff at Accuvision put my mind at rest.
I was very impressed at the relaxed and professional atmosphere I nearly
forgot I was about to undergo treatment that would change my sight forever.
Within 30 minutes after the treatment I walked out of the clinic with
my glasses in my hand with a prescription of 0.25 in my r/e and 0.50 in
my l/e (better vision than most people who don’t even need glasses). There
was no pain and I could see clearly for the first time ever!
My family and friends could not believe the transformation in me, I feel
more confident and relaxed and most importantly I don’t have to worry
about glasses/contact lenses anymore.
All I would say to you is that if you are thinking about having this treatment
done, just go for it, trust me that the surgeons and the staff at Accuvision
truly do make dreams come true.

I thought about the procedure for a long time and checked clinics in the
UK and the States. Although it is true that you will find the procedure
cheaper elsewhere, the standard of service is second to none. They answered
all my questions and more and will only operate on people who will truly
benefit from the procedure. How much are your eyes worth to you? Mine
are worth Accuvision's price. Trust them.

I had been considering lasik eye treatment for quite some time. and had
spoken to a few eye treatment centers But it was only after visiting the
accuvision centre in New King's Road Chelsea That I decided to go ahead.
My consultation and examination a week before the operation on the 17th
February 2005 was about 1 hour and answered all my questions including
some silly ones. it was explained to me that as mine was an age related
condition that I would still a need glasses for reading. But it would
release me from having to wear glasses all the time. the results are that
I now have 20 20 Vision which is astonishing when you consider that I
am 61 years old and have worn glasses for the past 30 years. My only way
of thanking these very friendly and professional people. apart from the
cost of the operation is to write about my experience on their website.

I have had glasses since childhood. My prescription was -6.5 in both eyes.
I was very aprehensive about laser eye surgery, however a few of my friends
who had their surgery at Accuvision finally convinced me to go for a consultation.
I have to say I was very nervous on the day of the surgery, but my fears
were totally unfounded. All I felt was a slight discomfort for a couple
of hours after surgery, which took less than 15 minutes. The next day
I had 20/20 vision- no more glasses.
A big THANK YOU to all the staff at Accuvision for transforming my life!!

I have worn glasses since childhood with a prescription of 2.25 and 4.0.
I hated going indoors and experiencing the 'steaming up' effect and having
to take my glasses off to do contact sports. The results of my surgery
are excellent! I had 20/20 vision the day after surgery and it may get
even better after my eyes have had some more time to heal. The process
was unpleasant but not painful and the staff were very thorough and professional.
I wake up in the morning and I can read the alarm clock; I can go swimming
and do contact sports and see what I am doing. I feel liberated. Money
well spent.

I HAD WORN GLASSES FROM THE AGE OF 12, I HATED WEARING THEM. IN ADULT
LIFE I BECAME A SOCIAL MOTORBIKE RIDER WHICH WAS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT WITH
WEARING GLASSES, IT WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WEARING A HELMET AND TRYING
TO KEEP MY GLASSES ON STRAIGHT. I STARTED WEARING CONTACT LENSES BUT WITH
MY TRADE AS AN ELECTRICIAN I FOUND THIS VERY DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF THE
DUSTY ENVIRONMENT. AFTER YEARS OF PUTTING UP WITH EITHER GLASSES OR CONTACT
LENSES I DECIDED TO LOOK INTO LASER EYE SURGERY. I ENQUIRED AT OPTIMAX
AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO OFFER ME LASER SURGERY BUT OFFERED PERMANENT IMPLANTABLE
CONTACT LENSES BECAUSE OF MY PRESCRIPTION, WHICH WAS +4 AND +4.25 WITH
ASTIGMATISM. I DID NOT WANT TO HAVE IMPLANTS BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS I WAS
HAVING WITH NORMAL CONTACT LENSES. I THEN APPROACHED ULTRALASE WHO ADVISED
ME TO HAVE A CONSULTATION. I ATTENDED AND HAD AN EYE EXAMINATION AND WAS
TOLD THEY WOULD NOT DO LASER EYE SURGERY AS I WOULD LOSE THE ABILITY TO
READ A LINE ON THE EYE CHART. AFTER BEING REFUSED I WAS DEVISTATED. A
FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS WORKING IN SOLIHULL ON THE NEW ACCUVISION CLINIC,
WHERE I MET NICK AND MIKE WHO ARE DIRECTORS OF THE COMPANY. I TOLD THEM
WHAT HAD HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY WITH THE OTHER COMPANIES AND THEY WERE NOT
SUPRISED. THEY WERE VERY REASSURING AND EXPLAINED ABOUT THE NEW STYLE
LASERS THAT THEY USED, WHICH MEANT THAT THEY COULD DO HIGHER PRESCRIPTIONS
AND ASTIGMATISMS. I ARRANGED THEN TO HAVE A CONSULTATION AND HAD A VERY
THOROUGH EYE EXAMINATION WHERE I FOUND OUT MY EYES WERE ACTUALLY +4 AND
+5 WITH ASTIGMATISM, I EXPECTED AFTER FINDING THIS OUT THAT THEY LIKE
THE OTHER COMPANIES WOULD REFUSE TO DO THE PROCEDURE BUT IN FACT THE OPPOSITE
WAS TRUE. I WAS REASSURED THAT THEY COULD INFACT DO THE PROCEDURE AND
GIVE ME BACK 20/20 VISION. I HAD THE PROCEDURE DONE IN OCTOBER 2004, WHRE
I ADMIT I WAS VERY NERVOUS BUT THE STAFF WERE BRILLIANT. THEY WERE TOTALLY
PROFFESSIONAL AND VERY CARING TO EVERYONE INCLUDING MYSELF THAT HAD THE
PROCEDURE DONE THAT DAY. AFTER HAVING THE PROCEDURE THEIR AFTERCARE IS
EXCELLENT, I HAD VARIOUS CHECK UPS AT ROUTINE INTERVALS. MY VISION IS
STILL BEING MONITORED, I NOW HAVE 20/20 VISION WITH SOME GOOD DAYS AND
SOME BAD DAYS, BUT I AM REASSURED THAT MY EYES DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF
MY OLD PRESCRIPTION CAN TAKE UP TO SIX MONTHS TO SETTLE DOWN. IT IS BRILLIANT
AT LAST NOT TO HAVE TO RELY ON GLASSES OR LENSES I CAN DO MY TRADE WITH
NO WORRIES NOW AND CAN AT LAST RIDE MY MOTORCYCLE WITHOUT THE INCONVENIENCE
OF GLASSES. I NOW FEEL IT HAS BEEN A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE FOR ME I
CAN SEE THINGS CLEARLY THAT I NEVER COULD WITH GLASSES/LENSES. THE SOLIHULL
CLINIC HAVE BEEN BRILLIANT I WOULD RECCOMEND THEM TO ANYONE LOOKING AT
HAVING CORRECTIVE EYE SURGERY.

I cannot sing the praises of the Doctors and staff at Accuvision highly
enough. I wish also to thank Lasik-eyes. I had been considering laser
surgery for years but it was only after contacting Accuvision that I felt
confident enough to go ahead with the procedure. Accuvision's 'state of
the art' technology and the patience of their staff, as I asked hundreds
of questions, was commendable. My prescription was –5.5 in both
eyes, I’m 25 years old and I had worn glasses since I was 13. I
had areas of concern when I first spoke to Accuvision. The main questions
were, would be able to see as well after surgery as I did with my lenses,
and would I need glasses in the future. The replies were honest and understandable
no guarantees but a better than 95% chance I would see 2020 and only a
small possibility of needing a reduced prescription. I was reassured with
the honest approach of no guarantees albeit from their previous patients
then odds were heavily in my favour. After my initial consultation, Accuvision
were able to provide me with outcomes of patients with a similar prescription
to mine the numbers were very good. They also explained that I would (like
most people) need reading glasses after the age of 45 this would be the
case if I was to continue wearing contact lenses. I went ahead with the
procedure. Having surgery should give me approx 20 years of ‘glasses
free’ vision after which I would probably need to start wearing
reading glasses as my eye muscles weakened. The likelihood of 20 years
without glasses was enough to persuade me to go ahead and have the laser
eye surgery. I am a travel agent and travelling with all the kit that
goes with contact lenses and then also taking specs was getting me down.
I was scared perhaps terrified would be more accurate, but my fears proved
to be totally unfounded. The procedure took approx 10 minutes and while
it was slightly uncomfortable it did not hurt at all! My vision was instantly
‘cured’, as I left the operating theatre I was able to see
my glasses on the table at the far end of the room. You are advised to
keep your eyes shut as much as possible in the next few hours after the
op. To be honest that was the most comfortable thing to do, as my eyes
felt as if I'd over worn my contact lenses. It was an amazing feeling
to be able to read car number plates without glasses as I left Accuvision
and walked out. My eyes felt gritty for about 4 hours. That evening I
went out for a meal confident in my vision only a slight haziness, which
cleared over the next few days. Now with the opening of a Midlands clinic
close to the NEC I have my appointments with the clinic staff there. I
can not congratulate the staff at both the Accuvision Centres. Also I
would like to thank this web site for the help in navigating my way to
a successful outcome of better than 2020. I am surprised at the volume
of testimonials that you have collected. It was this volume and diversity
of patients both on lasik-eyes and Accuvision that helped me build up
the confidence to undertake this “life changing” surgery.
THANKS LASIK-EYES and ACCUVISION. I cannot stress how much easier life
is without having to worry about lenses and solutions and glasses. I have
travelled abroad a number of times and thank god for Accuvision. If you
are considering laser eye surgery. Don’t be frightened at least
ask the questions.

Having had to wear varifocals for as many years as I can remember, the
idea of never having to wear them anymore seemed to me a lot to ask. I
made enquiries to ultralase but after an examination they said they did
not have the eqipment to perform the surgery. This was not what I wanted
to hear but I went away thinking that was the end of the matter and that
I would have to wear glasses forever. Then about a year later I saw an
advertisement for Accuvision showing results for someone with a prescription
of +8.0 and mine were +4.5. I telephoned them and was invited in for an
eye test and they were confident that I would be suitable for the treatment.
Because my prescription was high I was told that even after surgery I
would need glasses for close up work but my long sight should be 20/20.
My appointment was in August 2004 and was competely painless which meant
the nurse did not have to hold my hand so I missed out there but the results
were amazing. On the way home on the train (I live in Kent) I could not
resist raising my sunglasses to have a look around and everything was
in focus which of course delighted me. After about three months I noticed
that my close up work was becoming difficult and it was suggested I may
need an enhancement to correct the eyes with an adjustment of just 1.5+.
This was performed in January 2005 and a week later an eye test revealed
that the target of 20/20 had been achieved.
I am very pleased with this result and can recommend anybody who has worries
about laser surgery to speak to the very nice people at Accuvision who
will not only offer you great support but will not perform surgery if
you are not suitable or they think you might be at risk. Our eyes are
very precious and I only wanted people that I trust to look after them
and Accuvision was the right decision for me.I still find it strange not
wearing glasses but it is one of the best things I have done.

Its been 2 and a half years since my Wavefront-Guided laser op. I was
-3 in both eyes. I had a terrible first 3 months while my eyes settled
to the dryness factors. One day I would have 20/10 vision and the next
I would hardly be able to read the print on my screen with my face 5 inches
from it – incredibly frustrating, since you obviously can’t
get glasses to aid you when the prescription changes everyday. However
week by week this improved greatly. A lot was due to the fact I tend to
sleep with my eyes ever so slightly open. They settled down to 20/20.
Although I haven’t had them tested for 2 years, I am confident,
because I am able to stand back from the crowd (by at least 4 yards) as
we all look at the train times in Waterloo Station. Very happy I spent
the £3k. No more glasses to bend, break, scratch or lose and no
more dry, itchy and irritating contact lenses to fiddle with. How many
times had I put them inside out on my eye only having to remove them and
put them back in correctly, only slightly dirtier; worst of all - how
about putting in monthly lenses without having neutralised the peroxide
– Ow!; then those ultra thin ones as they slip behind your eyeball
where they get stuck for a couple of hours or simply just ripping the
little buggers! Couldn’t be any happier with my new eyes.

So far the results have been fantastic! I had the surgery on Monday 17th
January 05 and the whole experience from the initial consultation in December
04 through to the surgery itself couldn't have been handled in a more
professional and caring manner. At all stages you are kept fully informed
of everything going on around you/happening to you. I was always put at
ease either by Vikesh or Mike or any other member of the support team.
I noticed an immediate difference in my long sighted vision (I was short
sighted), but experienced some blurriness in my short sighted vision,
which I had been warned of in advance. Also some blurring on lights/traffic
lights, but this is to be expected and can take a few months to subside.
(But if you broke your leg, you wouldn't expect to be playing football
after a week!) I was given clear simple instructions in relation to aftercare
and the antibiotics I needed to take, which were to avoid me getting any
infection in the eyes. I have just had my week's check-up and the results
are very good and Vikesh is very pleased with the results. I am now back
to doing everything normally - driving, playing squash, using the playstation
and using a computer on a daily basis. Although rubbing my eyes if itchy
is still a no no! I would definately recommend Accuvision to anyone. And
thanks once again to everyone for their professionalism and support.

My perscription was not very high -2 and -2.5 but I wanted to do the treatement
to make my life easier. Travelling all the time and going out was often
uncomfortable due to the contact lenses. I had the surgery in October
2004 and everything has been perfect so far. During the consultation I
was told everything I needed to know so when the time came for the operation
I felt confident that all will be fine. I have to admit that the first
4 hours after the surgery I got a bit scared because my eyes were so watery
and the stinging didn't let me relax. After the first night however everything
was even smoother. I trying to be careful when I was out the first couple
of days so that nothing would get in my eyes. I have not heard any problems
so far apart from some dryiness but I had that problem before the surgery
so that is not something new to me. I was very happy with the staff and
I really felt that they cared. I still feel that I would be welcome to
call them with any questions I might have. I don't regret going ahead
with my laser treatement at all! My life is much simpler now.I would recommend
Accuvision to my friends and this of course is from my personal experience.

My eyes were originally approx -6.75 (right) and -5.5. Originally operated
on in August 2004 (Wavefront) and the initial results were VERY poor.
After one month they had improved alot..but only to -0.75/+0.75 left and
right -0.75. I was after having them redone, but I knew I would have to
wait slightly longer anyway for a re-op. 2 months later my eyes had not
changed more and they re-operated. Before the 2nd op I could go about
my daily business just fine and was feeling reasonably happy viewing the
world - just slightly short sighted, strong second image in my weaker
eye (with wavefront surely this should never happen?!) , but I had no
haze and low light levels were fine. After the second op, I came off with
a hazy view of the world, although I could tell of a slight refraction
improvement behind it. The main problem I have now 2 months after the
2nd op is the continual presence of haze all day long, which in my honest
opinion hasn't changed since the days after the op and is really getting
to me - big problem regarding my visual acuity and my general confidence
in how I go about in the world. Viewing things .e.g. number plate distances..
seems very poor..at times not being able to read them until right on top
of my car. Night vision - I seem to be noticing trouble now (even though
I have large pupils anyway)..changing to stronger light bulbs and using
more lights in the house. Having been through 2 lasing of my eyes and
witnessing the healing 1st time round, I am starting to strongly worry
about the outcome of my eyes - another 2 months, 1/2, 1 year's time, the
same strong haze afflicting my view will still be with me?...nobody can
say for sure. Now I wish maybe I never had the second op done. But also
I wish I never had the WHOLE thing done altogether. I had completely perfect
vision with contact lenses - I miss that ALOT - being able to read signs
properly in the street and seeing into the distance clearly. Although
my reason for having the op was the discomfort of the lenses after years
of wearing them....my eyes still feel dry and irritable at times now anyway.
My advice - it IS a gamble people..there are people who wish they didn't
have it done - like myself. I was no boarder line case either - health,
age condition of my eyes. One massive long waiting game for myself now
with no sure outcome at the end. A rating of 3*....a little meaningless..
how can anyone really rate a service like this against another one - you
only have it once/twice with the same clinic.

It's now 2 1/2 years since my wavefront guided lasik with accuvission
and about 1 1/2 years since my last review on this site. To recap I had
+6.5 long sight & it took over a year for my eyes to settle down.
I still have 20/20 vision within the conditions of an optition - however
they do notice my astigmatism which Accuvision said they sorted out. I
recently failed a driving test on not being able to read the number plate.
My vision is poor in dim lighting, in all but the most overcast days I
need sunglasses. My partner thinks it's the worst £3k I ever spent!
However I still feel liberated by not wearing glasses, sunglasses I can
cope with (that's what they're for!) & lights are there at night.
I have phoned Accuvision but was told by the receptionist I'd have to
pay for extra treatment as it's more than a year since I had it done.
