What can I say? there can be few greater gifts than your sight. Accuvision are Fantastic, I went to the Fullham clinic, they were friendly and reassuring and I felt safe with them. I had thought about lazer surgery for many many years before I actually got enough courage to have it done, now I wish I hadnt waited, my sight is perfect and I am very happy, Thank you Accuvision

I recently had my laser surgery just over a month ago my prescription was very high and I was generally getting very fed up with wearing contact lenses and also the fact that I was wearing glasses for nearly twenty years.

I visited Accuvision for a initial consultation and I was very impressed with the friendly service they provided.

They were very informative about the whole procedure and explained everything to me. They made me feel very relaxed about the whole process and made me feel more confident about having the corrective surgery done considering I was very nervous about the whole process.

When I finally underwent the corrective surgery, they made me feel very calm about the whole process. The surgery was over within minutes and I was unable to feel anything. During the first few hours I experience some discomfort but they explained that this was normal. I went home to sleep and the following day I woke up and my vision was excellent it was like I was this new person and I was so excited about the fact that I could wake up and be able to see everything again without having to reach for my glasses also the fact that in the long run I considered this to a cheaper option rather that continuing to wear glasses and contact lenses.

I was given the all clear the following day when I visited the clinic and I was able to resume back to my normal working life. I was able to drive and use the computer. When people say that you cannot drive and use the computer for a couple of weeks I found to be a myth. I recovered within 24 hours and I was fine.

I would say that I found the whole corrective surgery an experience and has made me a new person. I found that the staff at Accuvision help me achieve this as they calmed me down during the whole process, were informative and very helpful which I felt was top of their priorties when I first visited them.

I would recommend corrective surgery to anyone who is considering it. I would also recommend Accuvision as a Clinic who are committed to achieving the best results possible for you.

I had sight correction with Wavefront procedure done Wednesday 22 June 05 and I am really pleased with the results. I didn't have a strong perscription (-2.0 in each eye) but it was enough to mean that I needed glasses/lenses all the time. I can't believe how well I can see now! I even felt confident enough to drive home from the 1 day follow up appointment (my husband drove to the appointment as I wanted to wait until I had been given the 'all clear').

I didn't experience any pain but did feel a little faint afterwards - I am convinced that is due to my nervousness leading up to the procedure!! I was subsequently told that this can happen but that might have been said to make me feel better. I have not had ANY discomfort and have only experienced slightly dry eyes on one day at 4 days post op which are alleviated by the artificial tears provided by Accuvision. I also found that keeping myself hydrated helped with the comfort of my eyes.

I have to say that I have been very impressed by the staff at Accuvision. During the initial consultation and on the treatment day they take the time to explain what to expect and to answer any questions you have (I had many!). The initial consultation was very thorough and I came away with a realistic expectation of how they could help but also with the confidence that they would 'look after' me. I didn't feel the need to visit any other clinics for a consultation but having said that I had previously made a vague enquiry at Optical Express in Holborn, London and I definitely got the 'hard sell' which put me off immediately. As Accuvision is a smaller company they seem to have the time to provide a comprehensive follow up programme (1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months & 1 year!) so patient care seems high on their agenda. I realise that there are many 'high street chain' companies who can provide the same procedure but I, personally, felt more comfortable with the personal attention Accuvision provided.

All went well at my one week and 1 month checkup and I have a longer term appointment booked for January 06. I will not post to this site again unless I experience complications.

I would highly recommend Accuvision to anyone – it really has made a huge difference to the quality of my life.

Had both eyes done 5 days ago and the results are fantastic. My prescription was 1.75 in both eyes and - from the day after surgery - I'm now the proud owner of 20/20 vision! I researched eye surgery very thoroughly and Accuvision impressed me with their surgical team, equipment, patient care and reviews. The initial consultation with Vik was extremely thorough and honest, yet also reassuring. My surgeon was Brett Halliday and he and his team (I think there were about 6 people in the room on the day) were brilliant. Not only did they talk me through every moment of the procedure; they were also genuinely very caring. It's a big thing to have done so this is very important. I can't recommend them enough. Post-operative care is great too. The eyes are taking a little while to adjust to their new capabilities and are pretty dry but it's all been so worth it.

If you're thinking of Laser Eye Treatment, then DO IT!!!! It's the best thing I've ever done! Glasses since I was 4, an astigmatism too severe to be able to benefit from contact lenses and now, as a result of Laser treatment, 20/20 vision! It feels like a miracle - no more squinting (because I was too vain to wear my glasses on a night out) which in turn lessens the crows feet! Accuvision staff are the friendliest, most professional and reasuring people you could hope for on your journey to perfect vision!

Had both eyes done, staff were friendly and curtious, and the result was better than I dreamed possible. Near perfect vision, in all conditions night or day. The proceedure was painless with only minor discomfort, for 24-36 hours post op.

For those of you looking for a clinic that has the most experienced surgeons, the best equipment and staff who really care about best advice and acheiving the best possible results you should go to Accuvision.

My prescription was R +6.00 -5.00, L +7.00 -6.50. Two days after treatment my site was good enough to drive and after six weeks my site test shows I have 20/20 vision with just 0.5 astigmastism in both eyes.

Given the severity of my astigmatism and long sight you can imagine I took great care to choose a clinic that really had the experience to take on the challenge. I looked at other top clinics and it was evident they did not have the experience of treating more complex prescriptions.

I cannot recommend Accuvision highly enough - whatever your prescription. I am happy to act as reference to anyone who would like to learn more about my experience.

I had been deliberating over whether to have the surgery for quite a few years and finally decided this year to make that extra special effort to save. I looked around on the internet for advice and inspiration as to where to go and I was recommended Accuvision by a friend of a friend who had her treatment in October 2004. She raved about everything to do with Accuvision so I decided to make the effort and call them. I had my initial consultation with Vik on 30/9. This lasted approx an hour and was extremely thorough. Vik was brilliant too keeping me informed of everything he was doing and why! As I had really made up my mind before going for the consultation I was put off at all and delighted when Vik told me that they could do it. I booked my treatment day before leaving. Treatment was done on 17/10 by Mr Rostron. Everything about the day was professional, friendly and informative. They didn't do anything without telling me. It was a bit scary and uncomfortable but is done so quickly that before you realise it you are back in the waiting room for a rest before getting checked and then ready to leave. Worst part of the day was being in the car for an hour and half and not being able to open my eyes. I had to keep my eyes closed for the rest of the day. I used a sleeping mask to help - I found this quite easy because my eyes didn't really want to be open anyway. The stinging lasted about an hour and grittiness about 5 hours but the eyedrops helped. I haven't experienced any halos or fuzziness at night and results so far is 15/20 vision from being shortsighted at -2.50. The one thing a really hated about the whole experience was wearing the aweful plastic shields over my eyes at night. During my sleep I would try to remove them, sometimes successful but other nights I would wake up fighting with them to get them off. I was so glad one week on when Vik told me I could stop using them. Everyone at Accuvision from the Receptionists, the the person who made my appointments for me, to Vik and Mr Rostron and team in the treatment room have been brilliant. There is nothing negative I can say about the whole experience (except those eye shields !!) Thank you

I spent two years deliberating whether to have surgery or not and finally decided to go for it. Had the surgery 2nd November with Mr Rostron, prescription was -7.5 and -8.0. Surgery went well, slight stinging and grittiness for a few hours after surgery, but the drops relieved that. Had the checkup the next morning and both eyes were healing faster than expected. Had my one week check yesterday and I'm continuing to improve: 20/20 vision and that was on a bad eye day! Left eye is healing a little slower than right, but is getting there gradually. Getting halos and starbursts at night but was told that would clear up in a few weeks. Overall I can't believe how good my vision is! I would say I wish I'd had it years ago, but actually I'm glad I didn't. The technology has improved over the last few years so I'm glad I waited - I just wish I was younger! Many thanks to everyone at Accuvision who are very helpful and professional.

I had wavefront treatment to both eyes on 2nd November at the London clinic. My prescription was -6.5 & -7.00 and now less than 1 week later my eyes are settling down very well with no need for glasses or contact lenses anymore. I had my 24 hour check up with my vision not quite 20/20 but hopefully by my 1st week check up it will be. I am able to see very clearly which includes reading, working on the computer and watching TV.

The team were all very helpfull and made me feel at ease at all times. The actual treatment took about 20 minutes and there was only a small amount of discomfort for just a few minutes on each eye.

I am very pleased with the results so far and with the overall service Accuvision provided and would recommend them to other people.

I will send updates as my eyes settle a little more.

I had my surgery last Wednesday (2nd Nov) and on the following day I already had 20/15 vision! It truly is amazing. I have gone from -3.00 & -3.75 to being able to see better then ever before. Being glasses free after 15 years is incredibly liberating.

Everything from the word go has been 1st class, I booked the surgery on the very day of the consulation as I was so pleased with the service I received.

Vik is an absolute gem, he is so caring and explains everything in such a way that is reassuring without being patronising. I'm going for my second check up in two days time but know everything will be fine.

The surgery was a little scary but I only suffered stinging for about 20 minutes straight after and then a sharp gritty feeling about an hour after that which only lasted 10 minutes or so. Within 5 hours I was feeling fine. I have a little dryness now but the drops are helping.

The rating of very good isn't high enough, I just can't thank Accuvision enough.

I am now 6 weeks post treatment. Overall am very pleased with Accuvission. The pre surgery info was all spot on. The staff were all very professional and friendly.

Prior to surgery I had a mild prescription (-1.5) in both eyes. I now have better than 20/20 vision, and am thoroughly enjoying being able to see the details that I couldn't previously. The vision was up to 20/20 in my right eye the day after surgery, and the left one soon caught up, and is just as good now.

I had laser surgery on 17/10 & although I still have afew weeks to go before I reach my final improved sight the results so far are amazing.
I was recommended accuvision by a Consultant Ophthalmologist (You can't get any better than that)and went for my consultation on 11/10.
This was extremely thorough and professional, but at the same time Vikash was very friendly & made sure that I understood everything he was doing. He explained the surgery & the possible outcomes to me but it wasn't sugar coated and he made sure that the cons awell as the pros were clearly spelt out to me.
I left accuvision that afternoon a very happy person with my deposit paid and a date for the following Monday.
The surgery itself was very quick and painless. Mr Rostron & all the other staff were friendly & made me feel very at ease. I was in and out of the clinic within the hour.
That day was spent resting with my eyes closed as much as possible (this was the hardest bit because it got quite boring). I experienced watery eyes, afew shooting pains & a feeling likened to when you have worn contact lenses for too long (eyes a little sore & tired). Thankfully this didn't last long.
On my 24hr check up I was told that my right eye was already nearly at 20/20 vision, but a had alittle dryness in both eyes
The rest of the week was fine,I was using eye drops for the dryness & had afew pains in my left eye but apart from that everything was great.
I had my weekly check up yesterday with Vikash, the flaps are healing nicely & the sight is getting better by the day but I'm still having problems with the dryness(I was assured by Vikash that this wouldn't be a problem it will just take a little longer for my eyes to adjust). I was given different drops to use awell as something to use at night to help lubricate the eyes, hopefully this will sort me out.
All I can say to anyone thinking of this surgery is that the staff at accuvision were & still are fantastic & supportive, the only problem for me was that I wished I'd had the money years ago to have the treatment.
It has been a life changing experience for me & has already given me the freedom I've only ever been able to dream of before.

Being shortsighted I have been wearing glasses for about 14 years. After investigating Eye Laser Surgery for over 4 years I finally overcame my fear and phobias and booked in for surgery with Accuvision in Fulham for last Thursday 06th October 2005. I only wish I had done it sooner! The staff were extremely impressive and friendly, putting me at ease from the first moment and talking me through what was happening the whole time. They had a lovely nurse called Joan who sat and held my hand throughout the whole. My main fear (having witnessed the procedure on television) was the "eye clamps" used. I needn't have worried. The whole procedure for both eyes took around 8 minutes. And there was no pain at all. I felt no pain during the procedure and have experienced no pain since. The first 24 hours were very blurry and I would definately recommend that no one try to cook their own dinner the same day as surgery. Believe me you go to bed very hungry.
I have been back to the clinic today for my 1st week checkup and everything is healing nicely. I already have better than 20/20 vision. I have driven at night and experienced no "halos" although I did find some headlights a little too bright but I'm told that this will improve over the next few weeks.
My friend who accompanied me to the clinic on the day of surgery was so impressed with the entire operation and the clinic that she is now considering the surgery for herself.
For anyone still thinking about this I would say go for it! It is scary to put yourself in such a vunerable position but believe me you are in the very best of hands with Accuvision in Fulham. I took my time and had many consultations with different clinics to get a feel of the different levels of professional care and technology available. For me Accuvision ticked all the right boxes and with their Interest Free Repayment Option it just made the whole process that more affordable.
So good luck to anyone on the verge of going for this. G:)

I have worn glasses/contact lenses for the past twenty years and without them I was fairly restricted, my eyesight was nearly minus six in both eyes and therefore I was completely reliant on my glasses if I wasn’t wearing my contacts. My choice to have the procedure done came from my wanting to play more sports/swim and not have tried eyes at the end of the day from wearing contacts.

Having decided to do some research on companies I chose Accuvision. Other companies seemed too busy to even discuss booking the consultation let alone having a conversation with me. This gave me doubt; if their customer service skills were poor what are their surgical procedures like?

I looked into finding out as much as possible about the surgery before the consultation with Nick in Solihull. He answered all my many, many questions and allowed my husband to be there to help me remember everything, giving me the chance to fully discuss it at home before deciding.

I had the LASIK surgery on the 4th Oct with Brett and I am so pleased, the whole procedure was quick, comfortable and painless. Although it was the strangest thing I have ever experienced Brett made me feel calm, reassuring me throughout. After resting my eyes for twenty minutes when finished I opened them to realise I could see. As expected it was a little blurry I wasn’t in any pain and given instructions to go home and rest until my check-up the following day.

I returned the next morning for Nick to tell me I had 20/20 vision and over the next few weeks it would get clearer and better. I went back yesterday for my weekly check-up and again Nick was pleased with the results and my eyes have healed very well. Nick asked if I had had any problems over the week and I mentioned I had felt sick for a couple of days and he explained it was due to my eyes readjusting to my new sight and causing a similar effect to travel sickness. That has gone now. My eyes are also sensitive to bright light but naturally that is due being able to see everything quite clearly and my glasses/contacts use to absorb some of the light. Also my vision goes through stages of being a little blurred, but my eye drops help. I expected this as I was informed beforehand. None of the issues bother me at all; just thought I’d keep them informed.

I still have to attend a couple of regular check-ups to ensure everything is fine. For me personally it is the best thing I have every done. I am so impressed with the service, information given, the painless surgery and of course my 20/20 vision. What a fantastic result. Thank you so much.

Post-Op 20/15 vision.

I had my 1 week aftercare appointment at Solihull a couple of days ago and wasn't going to post until my 1 month checkup. But my vision is now so good, better than 20/20, that I can't help myself.

The whole team at Accuvision, from the Receptionist who gave me coffee, Nick Dash, my surgeon Brett Halliday to the rest of the surgical team have all been wonderful.

The whole experience was made as comfortable as possible by everyone that I just want to express my gratitude to everyone at Accuvision.

I will be boasting about my new vision and recommending Accuvision to all my fiends and family for a long time to come.

An amazing result...thanks so much...

I just had my 3 month check up and my vision is absolutely perfect with no side effects at all.

I have huge pupils and so I would have been prone to poor night vision without the wave front technology. I initially had halo's at night on bright lights for a couple of months but that has all cleared up now.

The entire team have been informative and friendly and I was particularly impressed by the fact that at no time did I feel I was been given the hard sell.

The results are better than I had ever imagined, thanks to everyone at Accuvision.

Just thought I'd add an update following my previous posting a few days after my lasik surgery. I was initially concerned because my right eye was perfect and my left eye was slightly blurred. I've had my six week check up today and am glad and relieved to report that my left eye is improving.

Immediately post op I was L +1.00 R 0.0
I've just had my six month checkup and my left eye is now +0.5 and my right eye is 0.

my overall vision is 20/15.

I still have halos and glare when driving at night but I was told this would continue to improve.

I've been really impressed with Accuvision and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Please email me if you would like to ask any questions about my experience.

I had considered laser eye correction for a while now and after extensive research came to the conclusion that Accuvision should be on my shortlist of clinics. There were many reasons; Chad Rostrons' (the surgeon)impressive CV, the fact that they use the Wavelight laser which has outperformed everything else in the FDA clinical trials and they charge a fair price for all this expertise.

Anyway, my consultation with Vikash didn't disappoint and Mr. Rostron was excellent. My results are beyond my wildest dreams: 20/15 vision with each eye and pushing 20/10 with both. Aftercare has also been brilliant and it seems that nothing is too much trouble for the Accuvision team. A BIG THANK YOU!

My life has truly been changed overnight and I can't believe I have endured hideous glasses for 16 years and contact lenses for the past 30 years. All efforts in the past to have laser surgery were dismissed by my optician on the grounds that my eye sight was too poor (+8 prescription and stigmatism) and it was only through recommendation that I made contact with Accuvision.
From the initial consultation to my laser treatment they could not have been more helpful or re-assuring. The procedure was totally painless though I'm glad I was one of those people who didn't want to know the details of what they were going to do!! At worst my eyes were sort for a day or so but a couple of days later I could see... and I keep reminding everyone so! The worst part for me was wearing those glasses for 3 weeks before surgery (as you are not allowed to wear hard contact lenses) But it was worth every minute. I can't thank you engough.

I had lasik surgery before back in the day when it had pretty much just started out. Over the years my eayes had started deteriorating a bit and I was forced to wear spectacles again. I decided to try Accuvision firstly because trying to get in contact with anyone from Optimax was worse than having teeth pulled. Getting an appointment at Accuvision was easy and hassle-free. From there things only got better. Because of my previous lasik surgery, my case was not not a straight-forward one - but everything went perfectly!! The staff are friendly, helpful, professional and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering lasik surgery; whether it's your first time or like me your second. Thank you to all the staff at Accuvision for everything.

I was 2.25 short sighted in both eyes. Had operation (wave-front) on 4.08.05 after feeling very confident with the very thorough and professional eye examination prior. The operation itself was not painful, I was made to feel very safe by the team and was pleased to be accompanied in the room by 5 staff all together. Though it is totally painless, I only felt anxious at the process about to take place, but was made to feel calm and safe by the surgeon who contiously explained what was happening and what he was going to do next. Once over, I was thanked by the surgeon and team for "trusting them with my eyes". All went perfectly, they said and I was very happy. I waited, took the drops and was advised to keep my eyes closed and rest. Before I left, I sarted feeling a shart scratch-like pain in one eye, but was told this will pass. Indeed, when I got home, i could not open my eyes, they were very watery, sore, and I was in quite some pain for about 6 hours after. The pain was similar to someone scratching the eyeball with a pin. This was the only thing I experience which I did not expect to, as most others reported only feeling uncomfortable or gritty sensations. I did not, they really were sharp pains. They would come and go, sharply every 10-25 mins or so. The next day, the contacts were taken off and after the check-up I was told my eyes were perfect. The amazing thing was that every day my vision got better and better. The blurriness went, the pain dissappeared and a week later I was very pleased to read 20-15! I cannot stress the professionalism and friendliness of the whole team at the Fulham site. Absolutely fantastic.Thank you, you have changed my life. I CAN SEE!!! A month on, and my eyes do not feel dry at all, I do not have trouble with lights when I drive at night or at any other time, which I understand can be quite common. So I feel very lucky that I have not experienced this, bar the first few days after the operation. I recommend Accuvision highly and thank them warmly for all their care. Mirona Istrate.

I had laser eye surgery on April 20th 2005. Let me admit at the outset that I am one of life's worriers. I reasearched Laser eye surgery for over two years following an initial consultation with Ultralase in London, and I mean RESEARCHED!! I was in two minds - I wanted it done, but didn't really think I could trust anyone to slice into my eyes. When I met Nick Dash at Accuvision, Solihull I was incredibly impressed by his obvious knowledge, experience and genuine continued interest in Laser surgery. He very thoroughly answered all of my questions (I was there for a LONG time) and showed me the operating room which helped remove some of the mystery/fear of the unknown. I left with his email address for further questions. I also saw the CV of the surgeon who would be performing the surgery - Dr. Jyotin Pandit.
I have large pupils and had learnt early on that I should have wavefront treatment and boy am I glad I did. I was offered ordinary laser eye surgery for much cheaper (£1200) by a company who said my pupils weren't large by their standards. As many others have said on this site money shouldn't really come into this decision. I willingly (and this is someone who is generally financially cautious!) paid £2000 to Accuvision. I wasn't buying a pair of shoes. I didn't want to be treated with archaic technology, wanted the best possible outcome and professional, intelligent and sensitive staff to treat me.
Before I decided to go ahead with the surgery I read a sensible review from a guy on this site who like me was delighted with his new perfect vision. However, he added with it a word of caution that you cannot guarantee anything and that is exactly how I feel now.
I would hate for someone to read this review and solely on the basis of my experience be influenced to decide to have it done. See, I told you I was one of life's worriers!:) In my case I looked at the statistics on the web of what can go wrong and had to choose that I wanted to give it a try (I've been blessed with a very smart mentor-type of father who encouraged me by saying "Hey, with those odds I'd bet the farm!). Accuvision seemed good and indeed they are. Links that I particularly remember as useful were www.nurseowens.clara.net/lasik_diary.htm for a description of a personal experience of surgery and for statistics and risk http://www.londonvisionclinic.com/process_risks.html .
My prescription before was -2.75 & -3.75 with significant astigmatism. I now have almost 200% vision! Good luck.

After reading some testimonals on the Accuvision website and following research of other clinics, I decided to go ahead and have a consultation for laser eye surgery with Accuvision. I had my consultation on Friday 26th August and happily was told I was suitable for treatment. Bearing in mind my prescription was +5.25 left eye and +5.00 right eye I was not overly optimistic I would be accepted. I booked my surgery day for last Wednesday 31st August. I can honestly say that the whole experience was totally painless and all the staff were very helpful and willing to discuss any questions and worries. I only had slight gritty feeling on the actual day and woke up the following morning with brilliant vision. I could even see the GMTV clock! I went for the first checkup on day 2 and had excellent vision, even able to do the crossword on the train. It has been getting better and clearer each day and I cant for my weekly checkup on Thursday. I will update the entry. All those "thinking" about it, go for it. I just wish I had done it years ago.

After starting to wear glasses circa 1997 just for reading and working at the computer and ten years later having to wear them practically for everything, I knew it was time for action. Having thoroughly reviewed many many eye clinics offerings (including Harley Street)and conducted research over a period of six months, I finally based my decision on four key ingredients, listed now in order. Surgeon qualifications and availability, top technology, the best rating on this site after taking into account the number of people rating the clinic in comparison to the actual rating score and finally, value for money (not that one should ever put a price on eyesight). There was only one, in my opinion, that stood out head and shoulders above the rest - Accuvision. I'm not going to go into masses of detail 'cos it's been highlighted many many times in the many many reviews you read here. I will simply make these observations: they do what it says on their website, 110% professional but with good humour and the most wonderful way of making you feel relaxed, comfortable and SAFE. Cannot thank the entire team enough. 24 hours was all my little miracle took and I've never used glasses since the surgery was done in early June 2005. 99.9% 20/20 vision and mine was complicated!! 10 x better than a dentist visit and 100 x better than a female healthcheck ;-) Get your appointment booked now.

I had surgery at Solihull on 28th July. After my original consultation I was very impressed with the clinic, the atmosphere was excellant.Nick was superb during my examination and answered all the questiones I had, even looking at the ones Id printed from this site. I was shown the operating room and the laser. I was so confidant and relaxed. The consultation lasted just over an hour. Anyway I checked out another clinic but they just couldnt live up to the standards shown by nick danash, who was very easy to talk to and honest. On surgery day I arrived at the clinic, some people were waiting for surgery others sat with their eyes shut (this was advised after surgery as it helps the healing process) The atmosphere was relaxed and the clinic staff were friendly and helpful, I felt totally at ease, as did the majority of people in the clinic. My prescription was -3.00 and -2.75 with an astigmatism in one eye, I also had a thinner than normal lens and my pupils were very large. I went in for an examination on machines that fed the laser information, then went to meet the surgeon who checked my eyes and was happy with proceeding. I was taken through to the laser room and given drops, the staff were 100%, a nurse asked if I wanted her to hold my hand and apologised because her hands were cold. The first eye was started, drops were added and then the machine which cuts the lens was put on my eye, the cut lasted approx 1-2 seconds (at which time everything goes black) once lifted off everything was very burred, more drops and I could see the surgeon brushing my eye, the laser was switched on and I could smell burning (this is not your eye it is apparently the laser evaporating the drops on the eye)this lasted 13 seconds, more drops then the lens put back and a contact lens placed on my eye(to help the healing and stop infection)
A wait of maybe 5 minutes followed whilst the laser was checked and reset. The same procedure for the other eye but the laser was actually on my eye for 30 seconds this time. The time goes very fast. I was amazed by the number of drops that the surgeaon kept putting in my eye throughout the procedure. Immediatly after I could see (blurred slightly ) the surgeon examined my eyes immediatly and was happy. I walked back to the waiting room and sat with my eyes shut. Approx 15/20 minutes later further drops were added to my eye and I was ready to leave, I had to put drops in my eyes every hour until bed time when you tape hard clear plastic lens to stop you rubbing your eyes in the night, (I worn sunglasses until bedtime to stop me rubbing my eyes.
THERE WAS NO PAIN DURING SURGERY. The only discomfort was for the 4 hours after surgery and this was similiar ro an eyelash in your eye, or when you leave your contact lenses in too long -this went off when the drops were added.
The next day I returned to the clinic and the contact lens was removed - my vision was really good, very slightly blurred, this improved when the lens was removed. I could see clearly - my vision was 20/20. I have been for my second check up and stopped using the drops, Im going for my third check up tomorrow. My vision is 100%. I can read a book, work at the computer, drive its amazing.
The staff at solihull are amazing, 100% professional and worth every penny.I wish Id done this sooner it really is fantastic.

Had consultation with Nick at Solihull on Mon 8th Aug, was so impressed that I booked surgery for Wed 10th. My prescription was -6.00 and -5.75, extremely short sighted. I basically chose Accuvision because Ultralase and Optimax I didn't find very friendly on the phone but Accuvision were totally different, nothing is too much trouble. Was very nervous on the day (I have been known to faint at a check-up at the dentist!)I pleaded with my husband to take me home, I even convinced myself I liked my glasses, but luckily he stuck to his guns and made me stay! At that point I was called in and became very calm really, I think because they are so friendly at Accuvision it really does put you at ease. I lay back and prepared myself for a horrendous experience of eyeballs being squeezed and stinging and all sorts of uncomfortable things BUT my goodness me it was almost a pleasant experience (well nearly!) really you do not feel anything, just lots of flashing lights and a slight smell of burning which for me was probably the worst bit, I actually think that a visit to the dental hygienist is a worse experience. The operation was extremely successful, a week on and my vision is as good as with my contact lenses, although Nick has told me that it will get even better as time goes on, which I know it will because it has got better and better over the past week. It is a fantastic feeling not having to rely on glasses and lenses and for anyone out there who is thinking of having it done go ahead and do it the whole thing takes a few seconds, and for me it has certainly enhanced my life. I cannot thank Accuvision enough and would most certainly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of having laser eye treatment.

I cant praise Accuvison highly enough from the moment you walk in you instantly feel comfortable with the surroundings, i was welcomed by the lovely Monica at reception - gorgeous smile. Vikash Patel conducted my consultation and was very thorough and relayed my initial fears as i effectively have only one working eye. I chose Accuvision as they were able to accomodate for my tricky Prescription which was L (EYE) +5.50 Astigmatism of 1.75 & axis of 145. i had surgery on the 8th August 2005 and i can honestly say i have not looked back since, for me it was the best decision of my life and i now have vision just shy of 20/20, The surgery team consisted of Darius, Mr Roston & Joan, throughout the painless surgery i was constantly spoken to - which made me feel at ease. The whole team at Accuvision are so friendly and extremely Professional, i can now wake up and not have to worry about putting contact lenses in or wearing glasses, i actually feel free and totally confident as i will not have to worry about getting red eyes through contacts. i throughly recommend you to Accuvision. Remember one thing Accuvision is the best forget the rest. Thankyou to everyone at Accuvision.

I was very short sighted, -8.00 in my right eye with astigmatism and -7.50 in my left. Before Accuvision I needed glasses before I got out of bed. I had my surgery on July 7th 2005 and have not looked back since. I now have 20/20 vision. I would only recommend ACCUVISION, professional and friendly service with every tiny detail explained. All I can say is "THANK YOU".

I had custom wavefront guided lasik on the 3rd August. I chose Accuvision mainly because of the laser they use and the fact that it uses less corneal tissue than all the other lasers. The service has been very professional so far.
I was -4.00 and -2.75 with astigmatism in both eyes. Surgery was uncomfortable but not too bad, post surgery was like having onions rubbed into my eyes and this effect lasted for about two hours. After that I just had the feeling of having left my contact lenses in too long.

I could tell straight away that the vision in my right eye was perfect and as a result I have started to worry about my left eye. I know it's early days (only two days post op) but I'm wondering if my left eye will get better.

Vision in my right eye in the follow up session the day after surgery was better than 20/20 - which I knew myself as my vision was just crystal clear. My left eye however was only just 20/20 and the vision was blurred.

This is still the case after two days and I'm worried I'm stuck with blurred vision in my left eye. Has anyone else had this experience? Can the vision in my left eye improve? I can't help thinking that they've undercorrected the vision in my left eye...

It's still great to walk around without glasses or lenses and I can't fault Accuvision so far. I'll update this forum next week once I have my checkup.

Cheers Ian

My short sighted astigmatic abnormal eyes were treated 48 hours ago by the team of Darius (centre founder), Dr Chad Rostron (surgeon) using the Wavelight Industries Allegretto laser. Some months before the surgery I had two very comprehensive and excellent consultations with Vikash preparing me for my decision.
In my research I was interested in specialist clinics which were not part of a large chain and which also had a large number of positive reviews on the lasik-eyes website. My list was then narrowed down to just three clinics.
Due to my abnormal corneas, one of my selected clinics turned me down flat, another other said they were 70% certain they would not treat me. This left me with a difficult decision as some of the “top guys” with the top prices in the industry advised me not to proceed with laser eye surgery.
Accuvision were the first clinic I went to see because I was impressed by the patient write-ups on the lasik-eyes website and also my web research into Wavelight Industries. I emailed a doctor in the states who has written a number of lasik articles and has experience of both Allegretto and Technolas. He came back with “They are both top line. The Allegretto has performed better in the individual FDA trials in the US (accuracy-quality of vision)”.
I now realise that because the team at Accuvision gets such a large amount of other clinic “rejects” their range of experience and expertise in the area of lasik is a lot higher, particularly with complicated cases and they are able to more finely differentiate between the unusual cases and definitely untreatable cases.
I know this is very early after the operation and am aware that with lasik over time vision can go down as well as up, but so far 48 hours on I’m over the moon to be driving around and enjoying life without contact lenses and glasses. (Right eye from -2.75 SPH, -0.5 CYL, Left eye from -2.5 SPH, -0.75 CYL. Requested target was right zero and left -0.75 for slight monovision. Age 43.)

I had worn contact lenses for over twenty years and during this time had increasingly followed the research into laser surgery. I always used to think how wonderful it would be to be free of contact lenses and glasses. I was extremely shortsighted, my right eye was -7.00 with an additional astigmatism of -1.50 making an overall prescription of -8.50. My left eye was -7.00 with an astigmatism of -2.00 so giving a prescription of -9.00. So without lenses or glasses my vision was poor at best. I also had a prism requirement, my prescription for this being -2.

About eighteen years ago I had a partial detached retina in my right eye. One of my on-going concerns with laser treatment was the risk of a further detachment due to the necessary pressure that is applied to the eye during the procedure.

However, upon becoming totally intolerant of wearing contact lenses early last year due to the onset of dryness in my eyes and not being happy with the transition to wearing glasses full-time, in June 2004 I went for a consultation at the Midland Eye Clinic to enquire about laser surgery. The upshot was that after an examination I was informed I was not suitable for laser surgery as my corneas were too thin. I was devastated as I had set my hopes so high on this treatment however, obviously not at the cost of jeopardising the vision I had.

Not being one to give up easy I made further enquiries and saw another eye consultant, forever hopeful of finding a resolve to this obstacle and of being able to ditch or reduce my dependence on glasses.

During this time, the name Accuvision came up in the same sentence as 'on the leading edge of technology'. Being female I admit to not being technical and do not often understand the way technical things work. However I DO know advances are being made all the time moreover, that my best shot of obtaining my goal was to seek advice from an clinic I had heard to be at the forefront of technical advances.

Accordingly, I attended Accuvision in London last June for a free consultation. What initially struck me was the calm, therapeutic ambience of the clinic. There was nothing cold and clinical about it.

My consultation was with Vik. It was thorough, I was not rushed and I was given every opportunity to ask as many questions as I wanted until I happily understood the answers. Moreover, Vik's manner was extremely kind, personable and professional but most importantly he was open and honest too about the potential risks of laser.

I had tried not to get my hopes up about Accuvision accepting me as a suitable candidate for laser however, I was over the moon when Vik told me that my previous detachment placed me at no further risk than any other myopic patient due to the years which had since passed since my detachment and the way it had healed. Further, due to having the most modern laser and way in which the laser procedure is conducted by Accuvision, my corneal thickness would not present as a problem either. My corneal thickness was 525 microns (right eye) and 534 microns ( left eye). My pupils were 7.0mm.

I understand that British Medical regulations dictate a corneal thickness should not be reduced below 270 microns per eye. I understood from my consultation, that Accuvision like to maintain a thickness of at least 300 microns per eye whenever possible, thus building in an extra 'safety buffer'.

I felt so assured by the openness and honesty that was imparted to me during my consultation that on 1st July 2004 I underwent the Accuwave LASIK treatment.

On the day, any anxiety or nerves seem to be predominantly overtaken by my excitement of hopefully reducing my dependence on glasses. Vik was as personable as when we first met, along with Mike who genuinely took an interest in all clients and who was so approachable and friendly. Before the procedure, Nick Jacobs the surgeon introduced himself and I couldn't believe how friendly, patient and reassuring he was too (this has not always been my experience with surgeons).

The procedure itself was fine, I truly felt nothing at all and it was all so quick. The only thing I did feel at one time was a pressure on my one eye, outside of this I honestly felt nothing. I appreciate some guys out there will equate such a procedure to having your head chopped off, but to normally anxious guys and to fellow females, from my own experience, I can honestly say the procedure is totally painfree.

I stayed in a hotel in London overnight and had to have the requisite hourly eye drops. The next morning I returned to the clinic and had the 'bandage lenses' (normal contact lenses) removed - again painfree. Then that was it! I was off home.

At my first weeks check up my left eye was 20/20 and remains so today. My right eye had a residual -.75 myopia giving an unaided vision equivalent to the driving standards but not the 20/20 desired. The corneal thickness in both eyes was still over 300 microns.

As such, in October 2004 I underwent an enhancement procedure on my right eye as due to the techniques of tissue conservation that were undertaken in the first procedure there was sufficent corneal thickness to safely carry out the enhancement. I understand that this is due to the kind of laser used by Accuvision which removes less corneal tissue and allows for a thinner 'flap'to be lifted than other lasers used in the UK.

The enhancement resulted in giving my right eye better than 20/20 vision.

I was realistic in my expectations of laser surgery. I would have been delighted to have just substantailly reduced my dependence on glasses but to obtain the result I did was indeed the gift of sight. Further, whilst I do not know how it is possible, my reliance on my prisms has been substantially reduced.

All further follow up appointments have since been at the Solihull clinic which opened at the end of last year. My primary care there is through Nick Dash who is extremely personable, professional and approachable.

I waited some months before submitting my comments to this website as I wished to give readers an opinion of the aftercare offered by Accuvision aswell as the procedure itself.

Whilst I do not intend to in any way suggest that Accuvision is some sort of miracle clinic, I truly cannot speak highly enough of their expertise and the care and service they provide both pre and post op.

If you are considering laser surgery then think long and hard and take on board any potential risks, for any kind of surgery carries a degree of risk. Further, you may pay slightly more at Accuvision however I feel you are being assured of the best treatment and of being treated as a person, not just as a number.

It has been seven months now since having laser eye surgery and quite possibly the best decision i have ever made. I previously wore glasses and contact lenses for twenty years and found it such a restriction on my life both personal and also career wise. I always thought about having the treatment but never got round to it until i decided to change jobs. I did alot of research and liked the look of accuvision. I was not disappointed. As soon as i arrived for the assessment i felt comfortable and could not wait to have the treatment so miuch so that i made an appointment there and then! On the day of the operation i could not believe how quick it took and how painless. My original vision was -3.00 and -3.75 with a huge amount of astigmatism but now i am 20/15! Unbelievable, just recently come back from holiday and what a relief it was to wear normal sunglasses and not have to put those horrible plastic things in my eyes. Thankyou accuvision.

Having had the treatment my eyesight is now better than 20/20 - something I never thought I would ever have. However, I have to say that I was a very nervous patient to say the least, and the procedure had to be stopped once because I was so petrified! But the surgeon persevered and the nurse had her hand crushed by me. I came out of the surgery and had to wait in the waiting room for about 15 minutes - not knowing that the whites of my eyes had haemorraged - they were bright red, which put the frighteners on a few people who were waiting to go in. I was told this happened very infrequently and would disappear on its own. It didn't hurt at all - just like bruising to my eye. I was concerned that it would be permanent as it was still there after three weeks. But to be honest I can't remember the day I woke up and the redness had gone. All in all, this op is totally worth it, I was just a very nervous patient who freaked a bit!

I'd been interested in the possibility of refractive surgery since I heard about it ten years ago. I know four people who've had it done and all of them raved about it so I started investigating the various clinics offering the treatment.
My prescription was -2.5/-3.5 with a fair amount of astigmatism.
I booked a consultation at Ultralase in Birmingham. It was a bit hurried. Probably because of the amount of people waiting to be seen but what put me off them was being told that I couldn't have Wavefront because my pupils are about 3mm and their technology wasn't up to it.
Then I emailed Accuvision about whether I'd be eligible for Wavefront and they said in principle it should be no problem and they could further advise if I went in for a consultation, which I arranged.
During that hour or so, I was impressed with the professionalism and emphasis on realistic expectations. Vik also mentioned the outstanding results they have with patients, so despite the warnings of complications, I left there feeling very confident that I'd found the right place.
On the day of the operation (October 25th), I didn't have to wait too long until the surgeon was checking my eyes and I was soon escorted into the laser room.
After lying down on the couch, my eyelids were clamped open and then I could see a red-speckled cloud and a green dot that I had to fix my attention on. The only discomfort was when the flap was made in the right eye. After what seemed a few minutes both eyes were done. It was a surreal rather than scary experience!
I had to keep my eyes closed for as much of that day as possible but in the evening the itchiness had subsided.
Almost 9 months on, my vision is excellent. It was a lot of money but worth it.
Thanks very much to everyone at Accuvision.

I'm a dirtbike journalist and was fed up of contact lenses getting lost every time I wiped my eyes when full of mud - not good when you're in the middle of a race.
So I had laser surgery two weeks ago, the custom lasik in both eyes. My prescription before surgery was -4.5 and -3.5, with a stiggy and abnormally large pupils. Throughout the whole process the team were great. I had the consultation and the actual surgery all in one week. During the actual surgery I did experience more than average discomfort and even though I was fairly distressed the team, surgeon and nurses were fantastic, holding my hand and reassuring me constantly.
I now have perfect vision in both eyes, although my right eye is extremely dry and as a result blurs easily at the moment, but I have been told this will settle down as healing for individual eyes is different.
I cannot recommend these guys enough for their professionalism and patient explanations from start to finish. Thanks!

I like many others have spent the last couple of years pondering if I should have this operation. My eye sight is -4.5 in both eyes, I am 42 and still fairly active. 2 weeks before my operation my girlfriend told me I should go for it, which thank goodness I did what I was told!! From the initial consultation through to surgery it was 10 days. From picking up the phone to the operation I must say that Accuvision were the most professional company I have ever come across. Throughout they manage your expectations and ensure that you are comfortable about the whole process. I now have better than 20/20 vision and just over one week after the operation have just completed a 100km charity walk across the South Downs in 27 hours for Gurkha Trust / Oxfam, this was without glasses or contacts and it was bloody amazing!! Thank you Accuvision.

I HAD CUSTOM LASIK SURGERY ON THE 9TH JUNE 2005, I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH BEFORE I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND READ SEVERAL REVIEWS LIKE THE ONES THAT YOU SEE POSTED ON THIS SITE. MY EXPERIENCE IS VERY SIMILAR TO MANY OF THOSE WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO HAVE THEIR TREATMENT AT ACCUVISION.IT WAS VERY PROFFESIONAL FROM THE FIRST CONSULTATION TO THE PRESENT TIME. MY MAIN POINT OF CONTACT WAS MR NICK DASH, HE HELPED ME ALONG AND MADE IT VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCEDURE AND WHAT WAS INVOLVED. LIKE MANY I HAD BEEN TOLD BY OTHER CLINICS THAT MY PRESCRIPTION OF R +4.5 L +5.0 WAS NOT TREATABLE, BUT I WAS ASSURED BY ACCUVISION THAT THEY COULD TREAT ME. FIVE WEEKS ON AND I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I NOW HAVE 20/20 VISION. A LITTLE BLURRING FOR THE FIRST TWO WEEKS BUT NOW IT IS FINE. MANY THANKS TO ALL THE TEAM, AND IF YOU HAVE A SIMIALAR PRESCRIPTION GIVE THEM A CALL, IT REALLY HAS CHANGED MY LIFE.

Before surgery I was -10 short sighted and relied on specs from waking up until actually crawling into bed - this operation has changed my life. I didn't realise that the world was in focus in the distance - always pushing up my specs. The team at London are great - making you feel really at home and giving a personal service. I mean how many people do they see each week - and they still remembered my christian name. I would fully reccomend this to anyone - the best money you will spend in your life.

I had Custom Lasik surgery at Accuvision a few weeks ago. I was short sighted with a prescription of about -2.50 in each eye. I cant believe the result, I now have better than 20/20 vision. No more glasses, I should have done this years ago. The staff at Accuvision are very helpful and they really seem to care about the standard of treatment. I found the treatment to be completely personal and I felt that the surgeons were customising the treatment for my eyes precisely. A great result!

Well, here I am typing this with no glasses on! It's still very strange and I'm totally overwhelmed by it all! It's stunning to be able to see for the first time in my life. Anyway, you probably get how excited am I by now :-) I have wanted to get my eyes done for the longest time and spent the last six months researching in earnest. I went to a couple of other clinics first as I wanted to try out three - word to the wise, avoid Optical Express if your prescription is over a + or -3. Having been turned away, I discovered Accuvision. From the start they were efficient and very friendly. Not pushy at all. They agreed to take me on and I had my surgery last Wednesy 29th June 2005. I was +6.5 in my left eye and +5.5 in my right. The surgery itself was pretty yucky - have a valium! But totally painless and over very quickly. I could see straight away, and promplty burst into tears all over Mr Pandit who carried out the procedure. I had very little discomfort afterwards and apart from a little blurring, all is great. I am so thrilled I can't put it into words - Cloud 9 doesn't even get close. Went back the day after and am already 20/20 in my right eye! The left will take longer and may never be perfect as I have an astigmatism. I will check in again in a while to let you all know how my eyes have settled down. But if you have been thinking of having Lasik, go for it!!!! xxxx
